  4. https://towsontigers.com/news/2024/3/9/mens-basketball-second-half-surge-leads-no-5-towson-past-no-13-william-mary.aspx Redshirt freshman Dylan Williamson scored 15 points to lead the Tigers over the Tribe 67-56 in the second round of the CAA Tournament in Washington D.C. on Saturday afternoon. Towson was down 30-29 at the half and by as many as six points in the second half before going on a 20-0 run where William & Mary went scoreless for over 10 minutes. Nendah Tarke added 14 points, 8 rebounds and three steals for Towosn who moves on to take on No. 4 UNCW on Sunday at 2:30pm. Charles Thompson had 10 points and six rebounds in the second half, as he was not permitted to play in the first half due to his actions late in the UNCW game (head butt).

    CAA Men's Basketball Thread

This Stony Brook/Drexel Double OT thriller is nuts. Amari Williams is injured.
  7. Three more but if the win tomorrow night....?
  8. Ok, finally back. And let's just say that game felt like three games in one. 1)We start the first half with 10 turnovers. We open the first possession trying to get the ball to Charles, which happens in every opener and we fumble the ball away. Then we miss layups so badly that at least half of those misses don't touch the rim. 2)Tejada had three of those turnovers, but he had the miraculous 75-foot buzzer beater at the half where he took the shot without about five seconds left on the game clock, which is usually a no-no. You want to dribble it closer to halfcourt, but these freshmen? 3)I said on the chat that the freshmen had 19 of the team's 29 points at the half and that's a positive. I didn't see UNCW shooting 4 of 21 from three-point for the game and despite having two stars, our defense did a nice job on them. Very nice. It's also tough to defend that team knowing that White is going to get a call nearly every time you breathe on him. 4)The kids were great today. Lowery with 10 points, 7 rebounds, 2 blocks. Only negative was 0-3 from the line. It's why you can't have him on the floor late in games even on D, because if they miss or make, they will foul him right away if he gets the ball. Tejada wasn't great with 8 pts, 3 rebs, and 3 TOs. 5)Dylan was just fantastic, even if the shooting numbers (3-of-9, 1-3 3pt) weren't great, he was 11 of 11 from the line (or 10 for 11, our boxscore might be wrong). Let's just think about that number. The redshirt freshman from Good Counsel has been in the early sixties lately at the line. But in the last two games, he's 17-of-17 from the line (or 16 of 17). That's clutch and maybe for the first time in a long time, we have a prime time performer. 6)New starting lineup. Pat went with Sulaiman over Jones and Dylan over Tejada. Made sense and it worked for the most part, despite the 10 early turnovers. 7)Going small at around the 11:00 mark. Lowery, May, Thompson, Tejada with Tarke or DWill. Forget Jones or Sulaiman trying to defend White. Go smaller, lighter and quicker. May not work on Monday though against that big squad, but you can try it out. 8)Another weird press conference. Didn't ask about the Charles Thompson flagrant foul. Nobody did. But had they lost, it would have been a big topic considering they started losing the lead after that with Paar struggling though I'm amazed they have him for just one turnover when he dribbled the ball off of his foot at least twice. 9)Tarke's tipped offensive rebound to get another possession was incredible. He has stepped up the last two games with strong defense, he was great on the boards and I think his offense is a luxury. I'll take 15 points, two blocks and five rebounds. He's capable of 12, 5, 3 and 2 steals every night. The assist numbers have gone down as he's played more two next to Dylan. Still like to see an extra pass now an then, but he's doing a better job of attacking the rim.

  10. Still driving but I wanted them to use the Phillips’dunk as motivation and they did though the freshmen seemed to be more motivated than the upperclassmen especially Lowery.

Rainy day a the U. Not there, but watching on Lax TV. Matt C. jumped on the first face-off, but the defense held.

    2024-25 Transfer Thread

I don't know about the bad teammate part but the video and his numbers are not really what we need. A small and skinny point guard who jacks up a lot of shots but it will be a lot tougher to score at the D1 level with that frame.
  22. This was a strange game maybe because it was a bit of a look into Towson basketball without Charles Thompson in the first half. It was an ugly look with no real rebounder or defensive presence, though Chase Paar played adequately (0-3, 2rebs in 12 minutes). Charles was a leader in the second half with his passing and that three-point play where he head-butted the basket support after making the tough shot. No ugly, just Good and Bad today. Good *Tarke's defense and rebounding (8) were exceptional. Had 3 steals and one led to a rare dunk to give Towson a 15-point lead and that pretty much ended it I thought he and May were exceptional on the defensive end in the second half. *Sulaiman had a strong game off the bench with 12 points in 23 minutes. *Bench was 41-2. I know CT played the entire second half and was considered a backup in this game but still solid. *Survived the first half without CT. Didn't play well, but if that wasn't W&M, they'd probably be down by double digits. Shows you his importance on both ends of the floor. Bad *Three-point defense was terrible early on. Wound up at 10-of-30, which is not bad. I think the biggest issue was going for the pump fakes and they finally stayed on the floor. *Just +2 in rebounding margin. For some reason, Sulaiman (2 rebs) seems to drop and miss a lot of defensive rebounds. He's a strong offensive rebounder as is Messiah Jones. *Jones had to play some backup center so I won't get on him too much for his defense. But he has to make those chippies. He was 1 for 5 and all shots were around the basket. *May was 1 for 8 from 3pt and 0-5 from 3pt. Quality defense and three assists, but he needs to score as well for this team to have any chance on Sunday. *Transition game was ugh. Tomiwa and Tyler with some bad decisions trying to go 1 on 3 in the second half. DWill with a crazy spin move in the first half. We're so used to playing slow is that we get so excited to be on a fast break.

    Virginia Lax Thread

Mikey W. with 5 goals DeMaio with 1 goal, 6 assists Gallagher, Villagomez, Constantinides, and Mauer with 2 goals apiece. Cormier had 7 goals on 17 shots for the Cavs. 19-15 Virginia with the win. Good three quarters for Towson, but they were awful in the third quarter. Too many turnovers on offense. Bad D. Goaltending not good enough. 17 turnovers overall. Won 19 of 36 face-offs. Just ok. Wing play struggled at times, but that's not why they lost the game. Of course, you have a few more wins and it could be a closer game, but Towson's issues started on D in the first half, the O had just one goal in the third quarter as Virginia took away Mikey and DeMaio, forcing them to go right and forcing the other players to carry the ball. I'd be looking at a lineup change. They need to get Roussel (3 assists) in the game more either on first midfield. They inverted him. His lack of size (5-8, 150?) doesn't really matter much. He was still getting around Virginia's defenseman.
