    Ryan Conway is coming home

Not worried about the long break. It's not due to injuries. He was redshirted his first season probably because they picked up point guard Bryce Aiken from Harvard, who eventually had a concussion that ended his season. These guys play hoops year-round, whether he was a practice last season or the AAU circuit or Summer League. Could he have issues early on in the season and maybe PS starts Gibby in November? Sure, he has a lot to pick up. As his HS coach Lochte said, he's working out and getting bigger and stronger. Saw that he was listed at 180, which is fine. Hicks came in around 160 and Gibby is probably 170ish. The physical part of the game is usually an issue for most freshmen. Since he has an extra year to grow, don't think it will be a big issue. Now running the team along with a bunch of veterans like Cam, CT and NT, will be interesting. Hopefully they can get accustomed to him during the summer. I'd like to catch more AAU highlights. Like to see him against top competition. I'm asking anybody who is interested on this board in our team. Check out his highlights it takes 5 minutes to find out what kind of player he is and whether he can help. Will also be intrigued to see him go against Williamson to see where both guys are in terms of development.

Ok my bad then. But I can’t read minds. It sounded like you didn’t like the pickup because you said he was a wild card like the others and would be rusty.

I saw the Hopkins score. Not shocking. Maryland is one of the best regular season teams in recent memory. They can also choke in the postseason. Lucky is definitely the son of one of the greatest face-off guys we ever had. I don't know if we recruited him. Maybe he didn't want to be in his father's shadow. Not sure what happened there. I still think we need help at midfield for Berkeley. I guess Too many smallish guys playing around him. Probably missed Swain a bit today, though he hasn't had a very good year (9g, 5a). Will need to replace Brennan and Koby next season. Long looks like he has potential in goal. I'd prefer a super-athletic pole and move Colby Barsz back to close defense. Koby had an outstanding career at close defense, but I can only imagine how incredible he's going to be at the next level at the pole. I guess I shouldn't be worried about the D. Nads usually has that taken care of. It's the O that is usually a major question mark and well, if Constantinides continues to improve, he'll be a monster next season. Can't wait for Michael Weisshaar to step up and play attack and guessing he'll replace Shilling at the X. Not sure about DeMaio. I know he has 26 goals, but man, his shooting % is around 20 (19.5)%.

    Ryan Conway is coming home

This was an absolute slam-dunk, no-brainer. When I posted that he was leaving Seton Hall two days ago and found out he went to Dulaney HS, I thought it was an extreme longshot, but a shot. Not figuring out his brother was on the staff. Watching his highlights from two years ago, he is what the Dr. ordered. Strong driver that can finish with either hand. Quick and shifty and decent size (6-1, 180). Good 3-point shooter who made 11 of 12 in one game and can score either off the dribble or just shoot a few feet beyond the arc. Is he Kyrie Irving with the ball? Not quite, but he's good. Is he Trae Young with his long range shooting? I hope he has better shot selection, but he like Gibby, can step back a few feet beyond the line. Can he be Tyson Walker? If he's 1/2 as good as Walker his first season, we're in good shape because we haven't had a difference-maker at point guard in a very long time. I'm talking all-conference player. Not saying he'll be that in his first season, but I think the potential is there. We have 3 All-CAA players returning. We don't need him to be a star right away. The future might be him and Williamson in the backcourt. I don't remember what everyone thought about Gibby at point guard last season, but I think most of us felt he was solid, but not a guy that could take over games, get to the rack and score or feed. Defensively, he obviously has his weaknesses, but you move him to the 2 and our backup point guard and Conway is the guy right away. Does he have to be great right away? Sure, he could be rusty and he's going to have to learn this level and his teammates. With Cam has a secondary ballhandler (sometimes primary), he doesn't have to be the only guy to create. It's also why I would prefer a combo guard as well to keep Nic at the 3. But either way, on paper. this is as close to a home run that we can hit on paper.

Whatever. So that means he's a wild card? He lost a year due to COVID. I guess he lost his game too.

    2022-23 Transfer Portal

With Ryan Conway on board, let's take a look at the depth chart. Obviously Gibson can play the 1 and 2. Holden is a four but can play the 3, Timberlake can start at the 2 if they get a four like Sylla or someone else. Or he can start at 3 if they get a 6-4ish combo guard. I threw May at the 3, but he and Williamson will have to fight to get in the rotation just like any freshman. Conway will technically be a freshman as well, who hasn't played in two years, but he should start. PG Conway, Hicks, Williamson SG Timberlake, Gibson SF May PF Holden, Coleman C Thompson, Paar, Biekeu

A little background, a 6-1 point guard from Dulaney HS (3*) whose brother is on the coaching staff. Shot 41% from three in 2019-20. Did not play senior year due to COVID and did not play at the Hall last season. https://www.hudl.com/video/3/10456599/5e5334bb96766d15581b8d08

Big game against Hofstra to end the season. Getting the first seed would be nice and winning the home finale would be great. But Drexel has the home field advantage. The one thing that Nads talked about last week during his Coaches' show was that the offense didn't share the ball enough against Delaware. Totally agree. Today, we had just three assists, but I feel that the ball moved better. There were several good passes right on the crease that weren't converted.

That would be fine. This is not a team that is likely capable of making a run. Too many issues at face-off, shot selection, rope unit, but Brennan has been very good in goal lately. We did won 13 of 24 today, but the CAA is not loaded with good face-off guys. The NCAA Tournament has a lot of them.

12-8 final. Stewart, Avanzato and Shilling with two goals apiece. Brennan with 15 saves and some key ones in the fourth quarter. Probably should have had at least 15 goals, but we''ll take it. First place and back in the CAA Trny, which is held at Drexel this year.

11-7 Towson after 3. Bad shot late in the quarter when they could have held for the last shot. Fortunately, the Stags were unable to capitalize. Getting sloppy on the offensive end. A lot of forced passes in the middle. When we get the ball in the crease, we're not converting the layups on the crease. Not since early in the game.

Good half up 9-6. Their zone did what it was supposed to do and force an outside shot which Avanzato took with about 20 secs left in the half. Fortunately, the Stags did not have enough time to get a good shot off.
