Guys have transferred once, twice, three times. Nobody has to sit out anymore. My guess is he stays and becomes All-CAA and potential CAA POY.

    2022-23 Transfer Portal

Barring anything unforeseen (injuries, transfers, etc.), the 2022-23 season will be the most anticipated one since 2013-14 when Benimon, Burwell, Damas and Guthrie returned for their last seasons.

https://verbalcommits.com/players/andrew-carr Huge loss and not a major shocker. He had all mid-major offers coming out of HS, so I assume he wants to move up in the world. La Salle was the biggest school on his list. With Fran Dunphy there, wonder if he's interested.
  8. https://owlsports.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster Also notice she has one of her former players on the roster in Jaylyn Holmes.
  9. Right. I'm old. Temple used to be in the A-10. The AAC is actually a lot better. They are sixth in RPI. Whatever. Doesn't really matter much. I'm sure it's mainly about the $$$. If some kids want to go to a quality school in North Philadelphia, be my guest. That means the competition will be stronger and the grass is not always greener. Who knows if Coach Rich thinks those players can compete at a higher level? She now has the ability to create higher-caliber athletes. Longer wings, more athletic point guards and bigger posts. Thanks to Coach Rich, she established a tradition that I hope can continue for the next coach. Yes, she also was a great person off the court. Helped with the Special Olympics and like PS, dealt with Autism in her immediate family. She will be missed, but hopefully, she started something great here.
  10. Look, if I'm Steve Eigenbrot, I'm leaning towards keeping Zach Kancher, because I want to keep as many players as I can from last year's team. Who wants to rebuild? It took decades to finally find a women's coach who can win titles and become an elite CAA team. I'm not saying a new coach can't get the job done, but it could take some time. He knows the area. Get a strong female assistant coach from the area, maybe with Towson ties, and get the job done.
  11. The A-10 is considered about two spots higher in the RPI rankings so a slight jump, but to me, if you know anything about Temple and where it's located. It's not for everyone. If players want to follow her, that's fine. If a new coach takes over who is not named Zach Kancher, she/he might want some of their own players and they might bring a few players from their old school.
  12. Temple probably is doubling her salary. Actually might be triple.
  13. If Zach gets the job, will be interesting to see which assistants stay and which go to Temple. If he doesn’t get the job, I assume he goes to Temple.
  14. So if you look at next year's team, they have a chance to be special, but a coaching change could be good or bad depending on who stays and who they bring in from the Portal. The key is bringing back upcoming junior forward Alie Kubek and Tarriyonna Gary and upcoming senior guard Aleah Nelson (Cincinnati). Upcoming senior forward Rayne Tucker (JMU), upcoming senior forward Anissa Rivera (NC Central) and upcoming junior Kylie Kornegay-Lucas (Virginia) just arrived as transfers last season as did upcoming senior Ryann Evans (ECU). So the building blocks are Gary, Kubek, Nelson and Tucker (when healthy). Still could use more height up front. But if Zach Kancher doesn't get the job, a new coach is going to have to re-recruit the current players and immediately work on the Portal. It's unfortunate that this didn't happen two weeks ago and hopefully, they have a plan to get this done within the next two weeks. https://towsontigers.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster

I get the sarcasm. There's no chance he goes to a CAA school even if he got an NIL. He needs to go to a big-time school to prove whether he can play at the next level. My guess is since he's from West Va. so maybe there or a Big East school like Creighton. He has three-point range (49%) and is 270 pounds.
  16. I think if Zach takes over, most players will stay. But this is Steve’s first big decision. He might want to go with his South Carolina connections here.

Also, I have some hope that Williamson and/or May can be rotation players in their first year. That's always difficult as freshmen but I didn't feel that way about last year's class save for Hicks at the beginning of the season. His health issues really slowed his progress down, but even before that, there's no doubt he needs to get better at running a team and scoring. I thought Gill did a very nice job in that Elon game of managing the game, but at 5-11, he's very limited on what he can do and it doesn't appear he has the blinding speed or quickness to compensate for his lack of size. That's basically a long, rambling way of saying I wouldn't mind a veteran point guard, but I would take a big combo guard like Nolan instead.

That's why you need a big combo guard like a Tyler Thomas or Horton who can handle the ball along with Holden to take pressure off of Gibson. The quickness part is certainly a concern on both ends of the floor. When you had Rizzuto and Timberlake with Gibson, the pressure was on Gibson or even more on Holden to run the offense. If we can get a guard like Thomas, who can create his own shot. That would make it so much easier for guys like Timberlake and Gibson to get open looks. Also, would hope that Hicks takes a big next step next season. Live in the weight room and at the three-point line.
