Not saying best team. That's only if they win, get the 14th seed and shock the world or at least lose by single digits. Now that I'm looking at the numbers of the 2012-13 team, the numbers are a lot closer than I thought. That team shot 35.8% from three-point. Defensive numbers were similar and rebounding numbers were slightly down. The CAA was the same, though probably slightly down now. (currently 12 in RPI). That team fell to W&M in the semifinals in Baltimore on 2014. http://www.realtimerpi.com/rpi_conf_Men.html https://static.towsontigers.com/custompages/MBB/13-14/teamcume.htm#TEAM.IND https://towsontigers.com/documents/2022/2/5/Towson_Season_Stats_2_5_temporary_.pdf Terry Nolan=Ralph Guthrie Jerrelle Benimon=Cam Holden Mike Burwell =Nick Timberlake? Marcus Damas=Antonio Rizzuto Charles Thompson=T.J. Parker-Rivera Jason Gibson=Four McGlynn. Walter Foster, John Davis and Guthrie weren't much of a bench. It was really all Guthrie since the other two played less than 10 minutes per game. Gray, Nolan and Paar with some Hicks is obviously better. Benimon was the best big man we ever had. Holden is a smaller version at 6-5, 210, A better ballhandler and passer. Probably better defender, but couldn't block shots like JB (2.0). Since I'm older, I would probably lean toward the 2013-14 team, but they didn't play on the road like this team. They were 9-8 on the road and 15-1 at home. Burwell was an outstanding defender, but couldn't shoot like Timberlake or Rizzuto. We also played the more traditional lineup while this team plays basically four guards. Any thoughts? I don't want to compare ECC teams with this one. Just a completely different game now, a much weaker conference back then. But those were great teams that knew how to win the big one. Kurk Lee and Devin Boyd could play in any era.

Hmmm. I know CC Williams wasn't a great point guard, but he was a good defender. I would say the biggest issue with that team was PK. Kurk Lee, Devin Boyd and Chuck Lightening or Devin Boyd, Terrence Jacobs and Lightening were all great trios. I would have to take those guys over that trio. Hamm was an overachiever and heck of a player. Abraham was a decent big. Sure, maybe he'd better with a guy who would get him the ball more.

Net Ranking has only been around for four seasons but still impressive
-
The only way we could have gotten an at-large was to go undefeated in the CAA, get to the Finals, beat Ohio State and probably have one or two losses overall. Then it still might not be 100% in with 68 teams. That's despite our league having a 12 RPI Ranking and JMU helped that with the win over Virginia. How about Drexel in 2012? They went 29-7 overall and 16-2 in a much better CAA with VCU in it and they were left out.

Of course, we have to win the damn tournament, but we are currently a 64 KenPom Rating and a 70 Net Rating, but that was before Saturday's full results.

MBB romps over JMU again in the last FULL game of the regular season

Been around this program for a very long time. I can't think of a worse regular season loss in terms of a complete collapse at home. We're also not talking about a young team. Maybe some guys are young in experience. Berkeley and DeMaio didn't play much at Maryland. Our rope unit of defensive middies is inexperienced, but our back end is very experienced.
-
Just want to add that the 1992 team won the ECC Tournament and there was no automatic bid. The NIT won't care, but they do owe us from leaving us out of the postseason.
-
NIT is all about politics. Who is a good draw? I don't see them picking us over a Northwestern or Rutgers or some .500 shitty SEC team.
-
Never said there was a comparison between Thompson and TJPR. There is none (until last 10-11 games), though TJ has played overseas for awhile. Burwell is a much better defender than Timberlake. McGlynn was slow, but a great shooter when open. Gibson has become a better point guard, but is a bit streaky as a shooter. Guthrie had one freakin' move, but I'd take that guy over just about anybody we've ever brought off the bench in the history of the program. Nolan is a really a starter, who is only Sixth Man due to health issues. He's something that 2013-14 team did not have and that's the closest thing to a true point guard. Biggest difference in both teams is passing. It's certainly much more enjoyable to watch, because Four was truly a great shooter and would have benefitted from better passing. He would have done well with the way this team passes, but defensively, he would have struggled. That team averaged a bit less than 10 assists per game, while this team is over 13 assists. The only thing that this team doesn't have is Jerrelle Benimon, a player we could go to when the game is close. My choice for go-to-guy is Nolan if the game is on the line.

Yes, or you can send a combined team of UNCW/Towson if they both lose (lol). Nobody wants to go to the NIT, but I guess for us, it would give us a bit of exposure that is sorely needed. If we finish second and don't win the CAA, I don't see us going to the CBI or CIT.

This dude is hilarious. He always has to take a shot. Many of the same guys? Timberlake and Thompson were only guys. Gibson was hurt. Gray was out. Rest of team was bad.

At least got see the Demaio game-tying goal done it wasn’t shown originally
-
Richmond wins 16-15 in 3 overtimes. Horrible loss after being up 9-1. Offense just went completely dry. Two shots by Gallagher and Schilling at the crease you have to finish. Just not a very good lax team right now.
-
Third overtime. Chop Gallagher had the game in his stick and whiffed at the crease. DeMaio also had three clear shots on the EMO and missed the cage all three times. He's taken 20 shots if that's possible.
-
Berkeley has taking some shots this game. They call a late penalty. If Towson doesn't score on the EMO, they don't deserve towin.
-
What am I watching? How do you not use your timeouts in overtime if you're Nads? Richmond had plenty of chances to win and they showed no urgency.
-
No clue why Nads keep saving his timeouts. DeMaio has another great look but shot the ball right-handed and he's a lefty, but never saw the goal.
-
Towson very lucky to be going to overtime at 15-15.
-
You have to be kidding me. DeMaio scores with no time left and the camera never followed it. Three seconds left and Berkeley hit DeMaio. Apparently. Horrible camerawork.
