Just received the ballot this morning. I can wait until after the last few games on Monday to sent it in. There are nine guys on that ballot fir Sixth Man of the Year and Gray is one.

My fault guys. That was a misleading headline. Changed it to predictions.

    All-CAA team predictions

He’s started 14 of 24 games and Nolan has started 15 of 21 so I guess neither would be a Sixth Man candidate. Juwan Gray would at 6.8 and 4.4. Probably not enough but usually they give you five candidates

    All-CAA team predictions

That's not how the writers are going to select the teams. I agree that CT should be in play for at least 2nd team, but he's been fantastic in the last 9 games, not the entire season. His regular stats are just meh and I don't think enough guys look at conference stats. Maybe they do. I certainly gander at it, but that's just part of the equation. Remember, these are not my picks. They are who I think will be selected. Is Timberlake better than Nelson? It's close and because he's been in the league for 10 years and Nelson just got there, maybe he gets higher, though Nelson has a big name due to his father. Nic's defense and lack of consistency is a bit concerning. If we wanted to just pick conference stats than let's check them out: Cam Holden is averaging 13.7 and 6.3 rebounds on 41% shooting and 20.6% (7-34) from downtown. Timberlake is averaging 13.6 points on 43% shooting and 37% from long range. Both of those guys' conference numbers are down from their overall averages. For Cam, we know why it's way down, but it's still down. CT is the opposite, averaging 13.7ppg and 7.7rpg on 64% FG. So you can cherry pick stats and Charles has been very good in conference play, but he hasn't been better than Painter in the long run offensively. Now if it were my pick and Towson is still second before the Delaware game, I'm not putting Cam and CT on the first team. I don't there is a good enough team to have two players on the first team. I haven't decided how I'm going to divide it up, but depends on the JMU games. Bottom line with Cam is that he gutted conference play out. He's waiting on the doctors as to when he can remove the mask and it might not happen this season, which would suck. I think if he doesn't fracture his jaw, we're looking at him or Estrada for POY. But the good news is that Thompson has really flourished and taken over a lot of Cam's duties. He's become nearly as a good a passer, esp. in the double teams. Take that mask off and I think we see a different CH. Ultimately, it's fun to guess how many players we get on the team or the All-Defensive team or whatever. We know what trophy means the most.

Most likely walk on considering he’s coming from Clarion College.

    All-CAA team predictions

I think Charles gets DPOY. Best defensive team and best defensive player. Sixth man could be Nolan even if he has been a starter for more than half. Underwood might be the overall best defensive player and could get it by they aren't a very good defensive team. We're definitely not in the running for ROY, that's for sure. Davis has really come on for Hens. Estrada is an easy choice for POY, but if Towson wins the league, Pat could get COTY. But voting will be this weekend I believe. So it will likely be Siddle since he's new and they had no expectations.

I don't assume they will beat both. I'm just saying it's a possibility that's it's not important for either team.

We need to beat JMU twice, but if UNCW loses one of these games, do they play the Delaware game if it means nothing to them? Also, Nolan will be available if they play that game. If I'm Delaware, why would you play Painter? Just save him for the tournament.

The Bowie State kid is a D2 All-American and just got an offer from Richmond.
  11. https://towsontigers.com/sports/mens-basketball/stats/2021-22/charleston/boxscore/22060 Nicolas Timberlake scored 19 points including hitting several free throws in the final seconds as Towson came back from an 11-point second-half deficit to edge Charleston 80-77 on the road in front of 5,060 at TD Arena. Charleston had a 7-point halftime lead and that grew to 11 as the Tigers were in constant foul trouble. Jason Gibson picked up his third foul late in the half and his fourth early in the second half. Terry Nolan played well in his place and finished with 14 points, three assists and three steals in just 20 minutes before fouling out. Charles Thompson also fouled out with 17 points, six rebounds and two blocks. With the game tied at 75 with 58 seconds left, senior guard Antonio Rizzuto hit a tough jumper in the paint and was fouled. He made the foul shot and the Tigers never trailed again, holding on with just enough free throws and a last-second stop to get the victory. Towson has a share for first place with UNCW, who takes on JMU at 7pm at 21-7 overall and 12-3 in the CAA. The Tigers shot just 39.7% from the field and 30% (7-26) from beyond the arc and just 19-of-32 (59%) from the line. Cam Holden had a rough day offensively, shooting just 4-of-15 (0-2 3pt) and 2 for 5 from the line with four turnovers. But had 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Towson had 14 turnovers, but forced 19 with 11 steals. That was the key to the comeback with Nolan and Holden getting seven combined steals. Towson was also fortunate to win the game considering the Cougars' top scorer John Meeks was out with a knee injury, but Charleston still shot 51% from the field and 39% (9-23) from beyond the arc. Dimitrius Underwood stepped up big with 21 points and six assists, but passed off a potential game-tying shot to hit Reyne Smith for the 3, who missed badly from the corner. Here is PS after the game: "I just appreciate our kids and our staff. I don't know how we won that game. I couldn't push the right buttons. Couldn't make a FT, a 3, couldn't stop them. Major foul trouble. Great environment. Team that couldn't make shots. Made a bunch of them, "We just hung in there. We didn't win with coaching. Apologized to the players and staff at the half. How big was Nic? Terry was good? Charlie. Chase Paar did a really good job. A lot of guys in foul trouble. Credit to the kids and the staff. It was not the coaching or game-planning. These guys just found a way. Cam is terrific. This environment is worth a lot of points. Raucous crowd. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good."
  12. Joe D. will call the President of Flo Sports or CBS Sports Network first.
  13. Look, there's no doubt there's favoritism by the home teams with the huge crowds. There were enormous crowds at Hofstra, Charleston and UNCW and there's no doubt, those teams got favorable calls whether it was due to the crowd or something else. I don't think the CAA dictates what goes on during the games or asks officials to call the games certain ways. NE and JMU just choked the games away with missed FTs and turnovers and maybe you can say the same thing about the Cougars. The top three teams in this league find ways to win, though I would say I've never seen a first place team as lucky as UNCW in my 20 years of carefully watching this league. It's why KenPom has them 4th in the nation in Luck. Will they go on the road and beat Drexel and Delaware after getting banged up tonight? With a possible suspension or two? My guess is they will split maybe worse, but we will still need to win out to get the top seed.
  14. All UNCW had to do was shoot and it was going to be a foul. But what wasn't fixed was a JMU kid missed two FTs at the end. Unreal. We'll never win this freakin' league in the regular season. Though UNCW isn't a lock to win their next game.
