Very good win considering we were off to a very slow start and Kubek had just three points. She rarely played in the second half. Not sure if she was sick or just didn't have it. They just used a lot more Anissa Rivera at the 4 and she has hore length to cover the perimeter. Either way, Kornegay-Lucas was fabulous in the end with 20 points. Big one is coming on Wednesday against Delaware.

Justin Harper’s nephew. Sounds like a future tight end at 6-2 215 or OLB

At some point, Nic has to realize it’s not his night from three point range. Has to drive and cut more and not take eight threes (not counting the last half court heave). But unfortunately we need him to give us 20 when you are getting very little from Gray, Rizzuto and Gibson.

It’s great that Charles is playing the best ball of his career and that if they can get Cam a clearer mask, he can be more effective as a shooter and passer. But ultimately it comes down to the guards. All five that play and if Nolan returns full time, I still think there is a role for Hicks. Especially against a guy like Phillips know of UNCW

Why can I not comment on something without some a-hole remark from you? It's my own opinion. We sucked today. I wasn't using the Cam injuries and other stuff for losing to 0-11 NE. I was just talking about the overall picture.
  7. Dylan is No. 10 in white. More of a combo or two guard here. The big dude for McNamara is 6-11 Favour Aire. Going to a high major obviously.

In some ways, I really think this program has a dark cloud over it. Our best player is playing with a fractured jaw and bad back. The transfer point guard we were hoping would finally be the guy, who at one point averaged 11ppg, 4.6 assists and two steals per game has played limited minutes in conference play or not at all due to what is some sort of respiratory illness (apparently). Even Rizzuto (knee) doesn't look like the same player athletically I saw over the summer. Glass half empty is we've got problems at point guard. The addition of Nolan was supposed to help move Gibson to the two. Last five games for #11: 20 combined points, 16 assists, just five turnovers. Good QB but need more points and dimes. Just three treys in the last five games. No attempts from the 3-point line today. Hicks was strong defensively today, but doesn't shoot it and we've seen why earlier in the season. I do think we missed him against UNCW and hopefully, when we go down to Trask in about a week and a half, we'll have Nolan back. We certainly need him. But our guard play still isn't where it needs to be to get that trophy. It will help with Nolan getting dribble penetration and getting Rizzuto, Gibson and Timberlake open shots. But those guys still need to be more consistent overall, though we know there are physical limitations with some of those guys athletically. As for Nic, he was a 41% three-point shooter before today, but that's almost fool's gold for him. He's so damn athletic, would love to see him get more looks near the basket with those CT hand-offs near the baseline or just cuts to the rim. He doesn't have to score on 3s or mid-range shots. But we need him to score. Especially when Gibson is struggling to get his shot off and Rizzuto isn't making rare open shots. Today, just everything that could go wrong offensively in terms of the perimeter guys, went wrong. Even Gray had two wide open looks. He's also been struggling from long range lately, but his MO is not as a 3-point shooter. (he's 0-6 in his last four games) Glass half-full? With all these issues we're still second in the CAA at 8-3. Must bounce back next weekend in a big way against W&M and Elon. Take care of business. Get off to better starts in the first half. Before everyone comments, it's never a good thing to go 1 for 15 and lose to a winless NE team. They might win another game or two, or maybe this gets them going. But our point guard play just wasn't there today and Walters sort of gave his fits with his size. That's certainly where we miss the 6-4 Terry Nolan (hopefully he'll be back against W&M), but having Jason play more at the 2 will help. Of course, who know if Nolan returns and guys will have to change roles again so it could be bumpy. I just didn't like the ball movement and the offense early on. Looked like we were stuck in mud. Maybe that's a little bit of fatigue and some guys are playing 30+ minutes and more like 20+ guys. Cam Holden was as good as you can ask for today with his mask issues and now has a back problem according to Pat on the postgame. I didn't think he looked right against Hofstra, but he gutted it out today. When he gets a minute off the floor, the offense just doesn't flow. Doherty also hurts us with 14 and 10 and Charles had 14 but just four boards. Timberlake led with 7 rebs. It was a rough one, but sure trap game. Letdown. Hofstra hangover. Whatever cliche' you want to use. I thought maybe that bothered us early, but once we sort of got into a flow, the bottom line is that they made nine threes and we made one. That's basically the entire game in a nutshell. Should Nic have taken nine threes while Gibson takes zero and just one shot the entire game? It's why we need Nolan back and get Gibson off the ball to get him some open looks. W&M is now on Thursday. Would be nice to have a good first half in that one.

Right I’m just following your lead. Lol. Stunk was the wrong adjective. Shaky was a better word. I’m also looking at the future and for them to beat Delaware which is Wednesday, they will need to step it up. Jasmine Dickey had 52 last night. Guessing she’s the best player in the league since EDD.

Got a little sloppy in the end when most of the reserves came in, but a very solid overall road win.

Allie Kubek is 6-1, which is about average for a post player in the CAA and he's as good as anybody in the league. She can face and hit the three or post up. I wouldn't say driving is her specialty. She can put the ball on the floor, but he's she's explosive enough to get by people. But she can go left and right and can finish with contact. Defense kind of stunk that half. Too many bad possessions where we allowed a layup or open shot at the end of both quarters. Rayne Tucker was the best player on the floor for Towson and W&M can't stop her. Going inside on every possession is crucial.

Leonard didn't do much of that. I think Mike Gathagan does a nice job of promoting things on Twitter. That's more of his job than Dan's. I think Waddell was probably one of the first AD's to promote through social media.
  15. https://towsontigers.com/sports/mens-basketball/stats/2021-22/hofstra/boxscore/22055 Nicolas Timberlake scored 26 points, including 17 in the first half on perfect shooting from the field to lead Towson over Hofstra 78-68 from Hempstead on Thursday night. The Tigers had a 10-point lead at the half, but then lost it at the start of the second half, but they regained the lead towards the midway point and never let it go. Charles Thompson had another big game with 16 points, six boards and four assists. Towson shot 61% from the field and 8-of-15 from three-point range, including an 8-of-11 mark in the first half. They also outrebounded the Pride by 10 led by Cam Holden (10) and Timberlake (8). The Tigers also had 21 assists led Timberlake's six, but did turn the ball over 18 times. Towson made 20 of 27 from the line (74%) led by Juwan Gray, who went 7-of-7.

    Late Signing Day thread

A brief look at some of the late transfers Devin Gill, 6-4, 240 tight end from Ventura College. Pretty good size. Good blocker. Can run with it after the catch. https://www.hudl.com/profile/13258494/Devin-Gill/about Ralph Paige, 6-3, 305, Merrimack College (Bishop McNamara) Good size for a center. Started for Merrimack last season as a redshirt freshman. Added for depth behind Cole Cheripko. Evan Roberts, 6-2, 285, Myrtle Beach Collegiate (North East, Md.) Played prep school. Benches 335, Squats 500. Will be around in the spring. Can play guard or tackle, though just 6-2. But even if he has long arms, there are very few 6-2 tackles so he'll likely end up at left guard. https://www.hudl.com/profile/13115072/Evan-Roberts Josh Roberts (6-7, 325), Lafayette, Grad student, Virginia Beach. Can play left tackle or right. Towson has to figure out how to use the grad student who will likely solidify the left side because they don't have any experience at left tackle. https://goleopards.com/sports/football/roster/joshua-roberts/9190 Looking at the offensive line for the spring: LT Josh Roberts (6-7, 325), LG Alex Desire (6-4, 310), C Cole Cheripko (6-4, 305), RG Jean Germain (6-6, 355), RG Roman Warheit (6-6, 335). Desire could play either guard spot or maybe move to right tackle. Germain may end up at left tackle or could play the right side. But assume they'll give Roberts the shot at left in the spring and see how he performs. Obviously, they need another tackle to play either side and a swing off the bench, Linebackers (Towson needs a bunch of transfers here. They mostly brought in freshmen. Daniel Benjamin and Mason Woods could be two who have the speed to make plays in 2022 if they get better and bigger in the spring) Dumkele Idehen, 6-0, 215, Fort Mill, SC Most impressive was the fact he averaged 18.4 tackles per contest and rank in the 200 and 400 meter dash. Also appears to be one of the few scholarship freshmen added in the last signing period. Did have an FBS offer from Army. 4.6 GPA https://www.hudl.com/video/3/7913861/5fb3868ad45ec30b580a6185 https://www.hudl.com/profile/7913861/DUMKELE-IDEHEN Ethan MacNair (6-0, 200) Somerville, N.J. https://www.hudl.com/profile/11230430/Ethan-MacNair Blake White (6-2, 205), Cumberland, MD. Fort Hill HS 4.62 40. 285 bench, 385 squad, 430 deadlift https://www.hudl.com/profile/9092895/Blake-White DE/OLBZ Jordan Sampson (6-4, 230), Palotti HS (Severn, MD) https://www.hudl.com/profile/13372384/Jordan-Sampson TE Malik Jackson (6-4, 230) Sophomore transfer UofMd. Laurel. Was a 3* recruited coming out of Meade HS and was considered No. 1 TE in the state of Maryland. https://247sports.com/Player/Malik-Jackson-46054161/ https://saturdaytradition.com/maryland-football/maryland-te-hops-into-transfer-portal-following-2021-season/ Bottom line is that we still need a ton of help on the defensive side of the ball at linebacker and cornerback. Need a RB on the offensive side as well as backup QB, several more OL. Like the WRs, but never against adding a burner. Bottom line is they have a QB and hopefully he's the guy. A lot of UAB people do like him a lot and are rooting for him. Committed to a school that was coming back from having the program cut. Did a pretty darn good job getting them to bowl games.
