I don't know if he has the physical tools to be a Shane, a Darius Victor and certainly not a Terrance West. It's about making people miss on the first contact and in space, especially if you are not a big back. He's strong for his size, but he's not going to drag a lot of 275 pound DTs if they get their hands on him. I love the potential of our offensive line. They are gigantic and should be able to open some holes up front. But if you watched him last season when Shane went down, Yeedee Thaenrat became the prime back late in the year. He was a short-yardage back to start the season. And he wasn't really a home run hitter. But Yeedee was 220 pounds and that helps if you don't have electric speed and quickness like Shane. Those three I mentioned are likely eventual Hall of Famers at Towson. Not saying we need that but each guy was either very powerful or had top-flight speed and quicks. Kobe has some of those characteristics, but I thought he'd be close to 220 pounds by now at 6-0. Last I heard he was around 210, but not sure what he is now. So I'm not saying AP has no chance to start. Shane is not here, so you do have competition. They all have something to prove, but if you are looking for the next T-West or close to him, Folley could be that guy.

    NCAA COVID rulings

Again, I wouldn't worry about it. A lot of these seniors won't be coming back if they can't play in the spring. A lot of our guys have had serious injury issues including ACLs. If most return, then the incoming class might not be as big as expected or they would just bring a lot of preferred walk-on types.

    Zane coming back to TU?

I think if Zane gets the waiver, you have a lot of different possibilities on the floor. Zane coming back to TU?

I would say put 2+2 together. We know Holland has a waiver. I assume Zane is not going to be a walk-on, so...

    Zane coming back to TU?

Bottom line is winning. If Zane can help you win, and even if he averages 15ppg instead of 20ppg, he's replacing Fobbs. He's going to a lesser conference and not having to worry about elevation. Gibson, Timberlake and Dottin are nice kids, but they are not capable of averaging 20ppg. Not as for the defensive side, late free throws and clutch play? I would hope that Zane would become more of a team player with guys that can stroke the ball around him like Gibson, Holland, Allen (good 3pt shooter), Gray, etc.

    Zane coming back to TU?

Cam Allen is also there. Zane is not really a point guard, but he demands the ball a lot. Gibson can play more off the ball. Dottin is a backup at best. Allen can be the guy off the bench pushing the tempo. Zane shot poorly last year at New Mexico, but he did average 3.1 assists. That's more than Gibson and Dottin. https://golobos.com/roster/zane-martin/

It's real. Craziest transfer story ever. Just have to get him eligible.

    NCAA COVID rulings

Lacrosse has to deal with this and they only have 12.5 scholarships. They’ll figure it out. In lax, seniors had obs lined up, so many didn’t return this fall. In football, I can see the same thing. A lot of guys will graduate and not return. They’ll spread some ships out. It will sort itself out.

    Adrian Feliz Platt

Welcome to the board. It's nice to talk football for the first time in weeks, if not months. Assuming we have some football in the spring, I think Platt will compete with Kobe Young for the starting job. There is 235-pound freshman in Sabias Folley, but I doubt they trust a true freshman right away. But I assume they will bring in an FBS transfer from somewhere. Maybe a Juco. You need more than two experienced backs to compete. While we lost Shane, pretty much every CAA team, who had NFL prospects lost guys in the fall. My opinion about Platt, while he's a nice back, all the high school records in the world mean very little at this level. He's not very big or explosive, though I liked the way he played last season. He just didn't show he was ready to be a prime back after Shane went down with the ACL injury and Kobe decided to redshirt. Our offense lacked a lot of explosiveness with Platt or Yeedee in the backfield and without Jabari Allen at WR. Maybe he'll be a bit quicker this season, coming off an ACL injury in 2018. Young also has something to prove. Maybe they will share carries, though I think Kobe adds a little more size and the ability to catch the ball. Neither guy is Shane, who is a legit star because he can make people miss and fly when he gets in the open field. Huge questions at running back and quarterback, if we have a spring. We had a lot to look forward to if we had played the fall with Jake Constantine at QB and Shane back at RB. Now, the only thing to get excited about is that we could have legit football and not just spring practice, even if it's eight games or less. Then likely a limited fall season as well. The best thing might be just to scrap the spring season, have a normal spring practice or add a week or two. That's assuming we have a vax.

This is making me desperate for some hoop action this season. I really wanted to see what Cam Allen could/can do, pushing the ball with Gibson waiting on the wing. Or what Mims and D. Jones bring with their aerial feats. Who is going to replace AB's scoring? Is Fobbs even replaceable? Can Gibson and Timberlake take that next step? Shame that we may not be able to see them until 2021, though I really think the Pac-12 panicked on eliminating winter sports until 2021.

    Second 2021 commit

I have to admit that the Gill move now looks a bit puzzling and let's face it. He has not signed an LOI and is just a commit, since the signing period I assume will stay in late November/early December. Or if Holland doesn't get the waiver, he has two years left at the two starting next season, Timberlake and Mims have two more after this one, Jones has three more, though those guys might be considered small forwards. Mims might be able to play some 4 if he can add bulk. My guess is that Hicks could be good enough to allow Gibson to play the 2 when Holland sits. I don''t know where Gill fits in if Dottin is back as a senior, other than redshirting. That's assuming we have a vax or the 'Rona has dissipated by next winter, because we have to go through this shit again, I wouldn't redshirt anybody. Certainly not this season, assuming we play at least half the season.

BTW, watching Hicks in that second clip. He's really impressive defensively. He doesn't appear to be super-athletic, but he's Philly tough. I know that hasn't always been great the last two players with ZM and AB, but both had talent and size. A lot bigger than Hicks. Guys that are smaller, they have to use their brains and body. I like his body control and reminds me of old-school point guards. Not saying he's the next Rod Strickland, but that was a guy who could finish under the rim as well as anybody. Fortunately, he won't have to come in and start next season. He can sit and learn behind Gibby and Dottin or play some two behind Holland, if Timberlake moves to the 3.

    Second 2021 commit

If Dottin returns in 2021-22, we have four point guards. We've always complained about the lack of production from that position, so why not go quantity of quality? But seriously, I think when you look at what Hofstra did with a very small backcourt, you don't need a 6-4 shooting guard to win. Gibson and Hicks can be combo guards and it appears that Hicks is the better prospect on paper than Gill. But Hicks can also play the 2, even though he's just 6-0, while Gibby is 6-1 and hopefully will add another 10-15 pounds between this year and the next. He's a very good spot-up shooter and not so good off the bounce quite yet. Remember, Cam Allen is a grad student, Gray is a senior and Gueye will probably get the waiver (since everybody appears to getting one). So you are losing three players that we know of. Even if Gueye shockingly doesn't get the waiver, does he just get the degree and return to his home country? Maybe he goes overseas to play pro ball or not sure when NBA Africa is beginning, but that could be an option next season if he doesn't get the waiver. But we assume he will. So next season if Gueye gets his waiver? We have 12 players on scholarship. Gibson, Dottin, Hicks, Gill, Holland, Timberlake, Mims, Darrick Jones, Solly, Chris Biekeu, Victor U. and CT. We definitely need a big that can play both post spots or if you can grab a stretch 4 transfer. Go for it. PG Gibson, Dottin, Hicks, Gill SG Holland, Timberlake, Gibson, Hicks SF Mims, Darrick Jones, Timberlake PF Solly, Chris Biekeu C Victor, C. Thompson
