Last year, we struggled offensively and still put up 28 points in the 7 point home loss. The defense allowed 408 yards and 6.7 yards per play. We had 142 rushing yards but just 3.6 ypc. Simpson has 45 yards rushing on 13 carries and 7 catches for 69 yards and two TDs. Flacco had 101 rushing yards on 19 carries and 225 yards passing with three TDS. The problem? He had two picks. They also shut down Jabari Allen, who had just one catch for 14 yards and did not have any plays over 24 yards in the running or passing game. Improved defensive line and receiving corps should help. Flacco has to limit mistakes. Need to be 0 or better in turnover ratio.

They haven't officially ruled him out for any period of time but I'm going to guess he's not going to play in the near future. Read into that what you want. Was still on crutches on the sidelines. Going to be Christian Dixon's job with Chiz playing some against the pass. I think it would take two guys to do do his job.

If I'm a scout, I have to see him kickoff the ball 10 times in practice before I even consider him. He can make a 50+ field goal. That's a given. So he's not Justin Tucker or Greg Zuerlein. Can he kickoff? Under pressure? Can he consistently make an NFL extra point? Kickoff?

I wouldn’t have gone for that long field goal but I think with such a big lead, he was experimenting. No way he does that in a close game against a quality opponent.

BTW, the attendance mark of 8,322 fans was the biggest crowd since 2014. Great student turnout tonight. They didn't stay in the second half, but not because it was 28-0. The 39-point margin was the largest margin of victory since 2013. And Delaware outlasted Rhode Island in 3 OTs while Holy Cross upset UNH.

Guys, I went to the press conference, but I'm not going to transcribe the quotes tonight. Not really worth my time to be honest because what can you say about a 42-3 game. Now, a couple of things. Brandon Cassels, the normal starting center, didn't play. He was injured. So they went with Cole Cheripko at center and r-freshman Alex Desire at right guard. Then with the game in hand. Brown Tuisasosopo went in at center. A couple of bad snaps. Offense wasn't always crisp tonight. That might explain it though allowing three sacks is worrisome, especially when you have the Maine Black Bears coming up. That defense is top-notch. While the offense hasn't quite hit their stride and will really be tested next week, the defense looks improved. Keon Paye was outstanding tonight and Ricky DeBerry's replacement, Christian Dixon, was all over the field. He had 9 tackles and a sack, while Keon Paye had the pick-six and three pass breakups.

For those who don't want to chat. Really good student crowd about 20 minutes before kickoff. I guess it's the free Gold t-shorts to first 1,000. The nice weather doesn't nurt.

We did, 42-3 win. Solid D, O was spotty at times, but did put up 35 of those points. Thought Dixon and Paye had great games.

So here's the story. Michigan DT Ron Johnson considered coming to Towson over the summer. Decided to go home to Rutgers after graduating Michigan. Apparently he didn't graduate on time. So his only other option was to go to Towson and here we are. He has two years left, is 6-3, 280 and can run. A former four-star who didn't play much at Michigan because they were loaded up front.
