Towson has run the "power" for the most part with a fullback, which they rarely used this year. So sure, they changed the offense to use Flacco's strengths. What they didn't do was enough play fakes. Not enough play action, which is tough when you are in the Pistol. They did that in the past when they had a strong running game.

That ain’t happening considering the way he left them.

It's not a matter of waiting for a better job. FCS coaches are not getting P5 jobs. So you have to climb the ladder and start out low and move up when you take Charlotte to a bowl game or win Conference USA. He can probably wait and get a better offer but most of the jobs might be filled. With the early signing date of Dec. 19, schools need to get coaches in ASAP.

They’ll be successful but that’s a big loss.

I want to thank the passionate Towson football fans who joined us this season on these boards. The old guys that have been here through thick and thin, the newbies who just joined us and some people who were on CAAZone and decided to pop up. I appreciate it and am only doing this to create a bond among TU fans. This is a place where we can whine, gripe, bitch, applaud, laud, etc. I wish the season didn't end like it did but if not for a 7-4 regular season, I might be talking to just a few loyal people instead of 15-20 or so. We all can disagree about certain things but one thing that we can agree about is that we care about this program. We might be a tiny portion of Towson alums who give a crap, but we are a strong vocal minority. People read this stuff, some coaches, some people in athletics and some do listen to ideas thrown around. On this Thanksgiving weekend, I'm thankful for this small community we've created, even though it's taken nearly 20 years and two different message boards to do so.

Both teams do play GW though WBB has now lost two straight.

Any win is good at this juncture after the Bahamas debacle. Fortunately, the transfers came through. Good move to start Dennis Tunstall, who played 30 minutes. Sanders, Howard and Fobbs combined for 62 points. Defense wasn't great but much better in the second half. Loyola shot 52% in the first half but just 27% in the second half. Still gave up too many backdoor layups, especially by the freshmen guards. But they defended and contested shots much better in second stanza.

MBB facing Loyola on Sunday at 6pm (chatting)

McNeill is not Scottie Pippen, Michael Jordan, Gary Payton or Draymond Green. But if he doesn't embarrass you and can stay in front of most guards, he can get by on five years of experience. He'll have some decent scoring games here and there The other guys are just so green that if we want to win games, you can't play through them through all their mistakes. As for Howard, sure, I'm old school about point guards. I want them to drive and dish but who does he have to dish to other than Fobbs? If we had a legitimate true point guard, I'd like to see him play off the ball. The bigger issue with him are turnovers and defense. -

Timberlake and Betrand both got abused by the Princeton offense on backdoor layups several times in the second half. Skerry had to take them out for McNeill. -
Appreciate it guys. It's been a good but not great season. Weird that it felt stressful even though we don't play or coach the games. Imagine what those guys go through before every game. On the 50th anniversary, we kind of saw it all. From the ups and downs of this program, the great performances and the struggles on defense. Last year, was kind of the opposite as the offense was barely watchable. I think I'm still here after 29 years because this program is like a family. The ups, the downs, the dysfunction, the good decisions, the bad decisions, the tailgates, the lack of tailgates, the students or lack of students at games. There's always something to cover even if it's just 11 games every season (sometimes more). I'm not a pessimist about next season even though I know the schedule is tough. Having the bye after The Citadel game and after the Florida game is key. We're not far away from being a great team but we're not there yet. They added some seriously big dudes for next season on both lines though I'm sure most will redshirt. As bad as that loss feels, it's good to come to place to unload your thoughts and a day later, it still hurts just as bad that we're not playing next week.

Yes, you guys figured it out. He does. You know how fans are, start out 1-4 and fire everybody even though I've been saying it was going to be a long season and let's temper expectations. They were picked 10th for a reason but beating Loyola is a start. For some reason, we keep beating local teams. Now Vermont on Friday is much tougher than Loyola. Fobbs might need 40 for us to win that game. -
Strength coach Jeremy Pick was great but he’s gone. I think they are happy with the current strength coach. You can only do so much when all three linebackers are 5-10 to 6-0. I don't think we're weak, just not very tall and arm length isn't there.
-
Sure other than the screen pass, they didn’t need to throw it because they were gashing us for 8-12 yards every carry.
-
So what did Duquesne do differently other run that screen? It rained harder in the second half so that helped their D.
-
Welcome to the board. Let's take a look at 2nd half PBP or just the third quarter because once they got down by two TDs, they couldn't just run the ball. Also factor in that Shane was hurt and they had just one back. So in three drives in the third quarter before Duquesne took a 24-10 lead in the fourth, they had 8 rushes and 5 throws. They did have 3rd and 2 after two decent Kobe Young runs and should not have thrown on that possession. Bad play calls yes. The others? I don't know that if we go 90% run that we get downfield like the Dukes were able to do. Two smallish RBs in a torrential downpour is not a recipe for success. The rain wasn’t an excuse but it was a factor in the game. The snow would have been a factor in South Dakota. My biggest worry was that this team wasn’t built for a long run because we couldn’t run the ball effectively between the tackles. Not good in bad weather conditions. Yet if Shane doesn’t fumble there, we’re probably discussing SD State,
