That makes zero sense.

He can play Miller four games and still redshirt him under the new rules. That's something they can test with a lot of these freshmen but I don't see that unless Flacco gets hurt or is terrible. Stover obviously has to get his act together but as I mentioned above, they may not want to take that chance and could add another guy for insurance purposes.
-
Flacco is likely the guy not because of Western Mich but because he’s older and has leadership qualities. And A little FBS experience doesn’t hurt.
-
Possibly or there might be another option at qb who hasn't arrived yet. I think they really want Miller to redshirt unless he comes in and is just too good to sit. .
-
You do realize that they have no clue about Tom Flacco....It's just an odd article with same strange quotes from Ambrose. But I basically insinuated all that stuff in the spring, that Stover struggled and wasn't even playing because he had some issues. And that they would hopefully bring in some competition. They did and I believe even Tristan Harris it not competing for the qb spot. More like a change in position.

Obviously we can't move to Division III unless we move the entire program there. We've gone through the non-scholarship era, which was brief and forgettable. We dropped the program in 1990. Improve the team first, then deal with tailgating. Students loved tailgating so much that many didn't even come to the games-even when we were good.

Sorry, I meant Juwan Gray. Tough to remember all the new names, esp. when you are approaching a special birthday in a few weeks. Really like that kid. Gives us a more modern 4 in that he can stroke it from 3 and handle the ball. By next season, he should be big enough at 6-8, 220? to handle the rigors of post D. Imagine playing him next to Tunstall in a zone press. It's the summer and we can be positive. When the games start, who knows? I expect this team to be picked at or near the bottom of the conference. That's the way it should be when you lose four starters and the lone returning player is not very productive. Expectations should be realistic but that doesn't mean that they won't be good or at least competitive. Adding Sanders is the biggest move because he's proven and then Howard and Fobbs should be ready for D-1 ball. But after that, I have no clue how the team will respond. I guess that's the fun part, not really having a clue.

Also, forgot to mention how nice these kids are. Not saying the last squad was filled with a bunch of prima donas (ok maybe a few), but very impressed with Fobbs, Dottin, Howard. Honestly, I'm just sitting there and a few guys walked up to me and introduced themselves. Not sure that's happened in the 25+ years I've covered the team. Maybe they thought I was somebody more important than just some blogger. But still, character is important after seeing what happened last season. There also seemed to be a division between the sophomores and seniors. Some jealousy. Can that happen here? Sure but if it wasn't for last year, I wouldn't be discussing personalities. I'd be just talking about their games.

I think they will be fun to watch and wait to you see Juwan Gray next season at 6-8, 210. Super athletic and long with a 3-point shot. I think ultimately Sanders is the 5, Fobbs is the 3 and Howard at the 1. Big questions at the 4 (Tunstall?) and 2. We'll see in October who is ready to go. Timberlake? Betrand? Solomon? Yagi? Dennis? Glad these kids get these reps in the summer to prepare them for the fall. But I don't know if you can go wrong with Yagi at the 4. He's that impressive on the offensive end but whether he can guard more athletic and smaller 4s is another question. If he was as athletic as Solomon, he probably wouldn't be here. Big Al is very important against big dudes and big lineups. He defends decently but you can't put him with Tunstall because you're playing 3 on 5. I just think he might be better coming off the bench. Maybe he'll supply more energy. (And won't have to lose the opening tip). The other impressive thing is how strong these kids are. Of course, they need some time in the weight room. But not a lot. These are not kids that need 20 pounds of muscle like Tunstall needed when he came in or McNeill (all redshirted) or Ingram last year. They will not be pushed around. Not saying we got pushed around last season but there was a lack of toughness. But the perception of a young team is that they can be taken advantage of. Here is my guestimate of weights (getting good info), a little different from roster. TJ. Howard (6-2, 185) Jakigh Dottin (6-2, 206) Nick Timberlake (6-4, 190) Allen Betrand (6-3, 200) Jordan McNeill (6-5, 196) Brian Fobbs (6-4, 215) Solomon U. (6-7, 230) Yagi S. (6-7, 240) N. Sanders (6-8, 232) A. Thomas (6-9, 270) D. Tunstall (6-8, 230) Q. Drayton (6-5, 210)

I see where you are going but I don't want a figure head. I'm not saying Bill Hunter was one but he was a baseball guy forced into a role as an AD and did the best he could. Schuerholz would have the most credibility. He's 77 though, so I don't expect him to want to deal with the NCAA. Bill Ripken -uh no. I think nowadays, you need a college degree. Bill did not go to college as far as I know. Billick seems quite content living on the Eastern Shore. He's very intelligent-just ask him. He'd be a great quote and the media would love him. He'd certainly help us in football. I don't think Towson could pay him enough though but if there was a job opening, I would try to gauge his interest in college sports. Problem is that he's been involved in the NFL for over 30 years. -

A little bit more info on teams in the tournaments: AC will have La Salle Tulane Alabama A&M Bahamas: Pepperdine Geo Southern Incarnate Word FAU Montana Ball State ND State
-
It's a decent schedule with two tournaments and yes, this is going to be a very young team so playing Kansas, Duke, North Carolina, NC State, Syracuse, and even Maryland, wouldn't have made much sense along with Virginia. I understand the yearning to play a tougher home schedule or bringing in somebody with that wow factor. If it were that easy, I'm sure we'd have a Temple, GW, Dayton, VCU, or some solid mid-major every season instead of just once in awhile. But it's not. It takes two to tango.

Perfect place is taking it a little too far. Great place to watch a basketball game yes, but not the perfect game or even site for a tournament. Comparing it to the D.C. Armory is more about age than aesthetics.

This is an utterly stupid argument about crime and I don't get why TU Alum is arguing with the wrong person. I'll try and find more info about this but my guess is that there are no decent venues that are not on campus that they could play in that seats 6-8,000 people. That's the rule. No on campus venues even though the Richmond Coliseum was less than a mile from VCU. So what really are the options from No. Va. to Philly? Some small arena in Chester? The D.C. Armory that was outdated 40 years ago? The only other option maybe would be to play on another campus like Villanova or hell, the Palestra (speaking of outdated but not as bad as the Armory). As for the crime, I'm no expert but grew up near D.C. Southeast was not considered the safest place but that was 30+ years ago. I'm guessing that Ted Leonsis is smart enough to build a place (cheaper land?) in D.C. where the crime may be iffy but the Mystics will play there next year and the G-League Go-Go team of the Wiz will play this season. The thing opens in September so let's see how it goes in the first two years (before the CAA heads there) before making proclamations about crime. And yes, the RoFo Arena in Baltimore is also not in the best area but I never heard of issues there concerning crime.
