Did this recruiting class solve all issues?

Just trying to get some talk going in the offseason and appreciate the conversation. I don't think I've ever been more excited about seeing practices in preseason or in the summer. Until I see them live, I have no clue how good this team is but I can speculate that we will be better on defense and at the line based on addition by subtraction. However, Sanders has to be better from the line than he was at Duquesne because he will be a focal point on the offensive end. Because let's face it, we have no proven scorers. But I think we'll find out in practice which guys are ready to go. Hopefully we don't have to rely on just one or two guys. If you start Al Thomas, you are playing four on five on offense. Same with Tunstall though I think he can score 6-8 ppg if he's given 25mpg at the 4, where he can just elevate and use his length over shorter players. Last year, were often playing 3 on 5 when Starr was cold and it really was 2 on 5 because the defense didn't respect EK's jumper. Yet, we found a way to put points on the board because the bench was pretty good until Morman's departure and Ingram leaving. I'll guarantee one thing: if Timberlake starts, we'll have a better passing team because he can handle the rock and play some point. Howard can play some off the ball. I think we will struggle early on as we attempt to gel, but I think we'll be fun to watch. Also like the Gray move for next year though he would have been nice for this season based on his experience and talent.

There are always job openings but for him, it would have to be the right one along with right price. I'm not sure he'd leave if he was thrilled with his situation but I don't think he's 100% happy here.

    Juwan Gray has committed to...

Brand new team. Whether that means better or worse, we won't know until they start playing. I do like the fact that the staff jumped on the best available guys. I think the Timberlake pickup was as close to a HR as you'll get this late and Yagi Selcuk was a solid pick. I'll take his skillset over what we've been getting up front and good news is that he doesn't need to add much weight. Same with Solomon O., who should be around 230+ when he plays next season at 6-8. My assumption is that Gray could play both forward spots. He could put on 20 pounds (assuming he's still 190) and still play the 3. Of course, there's little chance that everybody will be back in 2019-20 but here goes with McNeill and Al Thomas gone. PG TJ Howard, Dottin SG Timberlake, Betrand SF Fobbs, Drayton PF Tunstall, Gray, Solomon O., Yagi C Sanders Good news is that Gray can play both forward spots, Solomon O. can play 3, 4, 5 and Yagi can play 4 and 5.

Well, that pretty much wraps up that class. Nice pickup for next season. I guess he deleted his Twitter account.

Height doesn't matter much but you can't be 5-10, 150 pounds and be effective unless you are Mikey Powell or a ridiculous athlete. Most likely, these guys will redshirt if they don't bulk up. Look at Wies this season. He was about 6-0, 170 and it showed. He struggled against contact all season and had just 8 goals and 7 assists. Not good numbers for an attackman who started every game. Unless we have some strong redshirt freshmen, I see us going the transfer route again. Maybe a juco on offense. We haven't had a good one in awhile. We struck gold with Ewell and we need a big-time player up front, preferable a feeder-type to run the offense. I don't think Johnny G. showed enough to be a starter. I'd move Sunday back to midfield assuming Mazza is back. Move Monahan to attack though I understand Gilardi being skeptical of making that move considering he was a turnover-machine this season. But putting him on first-midfield is not good either. I'd like to see more of M Andrew Beacham next season because he has some of that electric quickness we are missing. He just needs more strength and playing time. Other question is whether Nads will return. I know he was courted last year by Michigan and he considered it. Not sure if there are any job openings that would intrigue him other than Hop and they look like they could be a Fianal Four team.

A couple of more guys going to Towson next season Ryan Swain, M, Breakers 2018 / Calvert Hall (Md.) I could not help but be impressed by Swain’s skills – he’s a nonstop player and controls the game all-over the field. Really showed a lot of versatility with his two goals. The first was a goalie outlet and ran the full length of the field and then scored, followed by a great dodge turned inside roll. Garrett Zungailia '18, D, Calvert Hall (Md.) / @FCA_MD_Lax committed to @Towson_MLAX. 6-foot-4 lefty has been playing with confidence as of late: https://recruitingrundown.com/2017/11/21/breaking-down-over-40-standouts-from-the-fall-national-high-school-lacrosse-showcase/ … Garrett Zungailia, D, 2018 – The tall lefty defenseman showed good instincts in covering his man and playing team defense. He showed an athletic play in the middle of the field by picking off a clearing attempt and bringing it back to initiate the CHC offense.

I wish there was a Scout or Rivals or lacrosse. We obviously missed Drenner and Seider, but Mike Lynch was very underrated. He was fast with strong shots from both sides. Tyler Young also brought great speed. Our middies are more big and lumbering and they need somebody to set them up. The transfer route obviously didn't work this year. Thought Chetner got better as the season went on but Monahan really struggled. I would move him to attack. Chetner graduates. Johnny G. was ok at times but he's limited size-wise and athleticially. He sat out last season due to injury after coming over from Loyola. I didn't see enough from Brody Mclean, the Canadian transfer from StonyBrook. He's only a soph., so he has two years left. Seems like basically a crease attackman. If Mazza returns, I'd have Monahan, Mazza and some other attackman either a transfer or freshman. Wies has to get much stronger. He just gets pushed off the ball to easily. At midfield, Sovero, Sunday, and Maloof are fine. From what I hear, Logan Zimroch is a big-time player from St. Paul's. https://www.connectlax.com/collegeteam/male-d1-at-towson_university https://www.insidelacrosse.com/recruiting/profile/2794 Sean Mooney, another big athletic kid from Kent Island. I like that he's 6-1, 192 and played football. Also Alex Reid from Loyola Blakefield, though he's just 5-7, 165, https://wrww.hudl.com/profile/4874576/Sean-Mooney

It's over. Congrats to UMass. They were the best team all year in the CAA. We need an upgrade on offense. Need more physical players on attack and more speed on midfield.

Maloof throws it away with 3:41 left. That typifies the season. Although I think we only had 6 or 7 turnover sin this game. Offense was pretty offensive most of the year and that was the big issue. D was good enough to win with. Not great but good. Suspensions were devastating but give UMass credit, they were the best team.

Scanoni with 14 saves. He's been good but we've made him look good as well.

Not a surprise. This is not an NCAA Tournament team. We're fortunate to be in the final. Attack is the weakest I've seen since covering the team since 1990. I think it's tough to win when you don't score in transition or don't even try.

Spencer scores on another long shot past Brennan. Not sure he saw that one. 12-8 and season coming to an end very shortly.

11 goals is just too much for this offense to overcome. This isn't Drexel or Fairfield.

Trainor with the long shot past Brennan. That should just about do it. You have to save that one. Good location but in a game like this you have save that one. Now 11-8 with 9:30 left. I think Brennan is the starter next season but needs to improve no doubt.

Johnny G. from Chetner at the crease. What a great look.. We'll certainly miss Chetner's ability to dodge and pass net season, Now 10-8 UMass with 11:14 left in the game.

I really think Monahan miscast at midfield. Like to see him move to attack next season. Not sure if Mazza will be back but we could use him.

Woodall lost another badly. But fortunately the knocked the ball out of Rak's stick before he could score or set somebody up in transition.
