He's basically their short-yardage back. Had 10 carries for 38 yards and 3 TDs.

    Morgan Game Notes

There's a 20% chance of rain at game time and 35% chance in 2nd half. And slim chance of rain expected (15-20%) all afternoon during tailgate hours. Hey, people leave at the half anyways so now they may have an excuse if the storms come and the game gets delayed . But as far as the buzz on the game, there is pretty good student buzz. Kind of tough to analyze this game because there's very little known about Morgan other than that they have a 6-6 quarterback who can move. Last time we played, they opened with a field goal and we scored the next 42 points. But that was 2011 and a very good Towson team. I don't think this is 2011 but I do believe we are better than 2016 and 2014 (better OL and QB). Also, I haven't really hyped this team up that much during the spring and summer. I haven't seen enough on D that shows me we are not going to be the team that allowed teams to convert 48% of their third downs. However, I believe, if given the chance. Lyndon Johnson will blitz more and play a lot more press coverage. I think we'll be a lot better against the pass but worried about our run D. On the other side, Morgan is really small at linebacker and probably fast but not huge on D-line either. We should be able to maul them up front because our line is really big (depending on who starts, probably averaging 305-315 across). What I do believe in is our playmakers. I think this will be an exciting team to watch. Shane, Leatherbury and Dorsey (if he plays) can all fly as can Lyrics when he returns kicks and punts. Greenwood is already listed as a starter because he's the real deal at 6-3, 200. Just big and long with a long reach. Kilgore can play and I really like Brent Richardson, who is a tough runner after the catch. I think if he's healthy, he would have fit in as a 3rd receiver last season. Jabari Allen could be better than all of them if he can get healthy. It's the best group of receivers I've seen here but again, having a good qb to get them the ball helps. I also think C.J. Williams gives us that tough inside runner that we lacked last season after Vito got hurt. So, I understand the skepticism about the coaches. They have something to prove as well but the players are better and it starts up front.

    Final Scrimmage report

He's a little better than the spring. I hope he's average enough for Rob not to regret not adding a transfer punter. I'm really not sure about that. He's certainly capable of averaging around 38yds/punt but will need to limit the bad ones.

    Final Scrimmage report

http://towsontigers.com/news/2017/8/26/football-towson-breaks-camp-with-final-scrimmage.aspx Comments from RA On scrimmage We're far along but not close enough. Much sharper. You have to manage the guys that are going to play. We're good but not there yet. On Morgan When he's at the point, where he doesn't think about what he's doing, that's pretty sexy. I just don't like when he doesn't feel like he's thinking about what he's doing, that's the antithesis of sexy. On O-line That should be solid by Tuesday. Defensively It's nice to have him back with a busted foot, that fortifies teh line. On cornerback competition It's really going to be who practices better and who is dialed into the gameplan more. On Coby Tippett He's a guy who is in consideration. By Sunday night, I'll have a 95% certainty of what first-year kids play in the first game. On LBs They look good, fast and physical. (Dondre) is growing up. Physically, he's always been a good player .You have to learn how to armor up your body. He still goes hard and physical when his shoulder gets dinged up. On Tibo He's a true freshman that speaks six languages. You are going to be able to pick up the system easier. There are certain times when you follow your gut instinct and you win, sometimes you lose. This time, we've won.

No shot at making the team unless they have an injury. Likely practice squad unless somebody else picks him up. Shame he fumbled because that's not his MO.

RA and somebody else told me or hinted to me that it was temporary due to the Zane minor injury and should go back to Antonio at LT on Tuesday, but you never know.

    Final Scrimmage report

Final scrimmage was pretty solid in front of some of the season ticket holders. A couple of notes. 1)D'Mitri Francis played left tackle and Antonio Harris moved to left guard. However, Zane Ventemiglia was out with a minor injury, and Aaron Gryzmkowski moved to right guard. That could be a temporary thing as Coach Ambrose said Tuesday everything should go back, assuming that Harris goes back to left tackle The good news is that there are many different options on this line. Personally, I like the size of Francis (325) and Harris (315) on the left side. We should be able to run on anybody. Grzymkowski (290) is more of an unknown quantity as a r-freshman. The cohesion of the line is the biggest question. Matt Kauffman and Antonio Harris are the only returning starters. But at least Ventemiglia and starting center Carnesale played in the spring. 2)Mahalak was sharp. He made some great corner throws over the shoulder to Greenwood and Nick Gray. Greenwood, Leatherbury, Richardson and Kilgore are the top four receivers. Still waiting to see Rutgers transfer John Tsimis get on the field. He apparently returned to practice this week but was held out again. Good to see most of the injured players back on the field like Reece Burnett. Nice to see his big body in there and even if it's just short-yardage and goal line, he's tough to move at 6-2, 360. Also good to see Dorsey back out there at WR. I think he's close to playing as a true freshman. That speed is intriguing. Same with Christian Greaves, who finally got on the field but has missed so much time that he was with the three's. Guessing he'll redshirt. 3)Safeties are a concern. Monty Fenner is fine but opposite him is a concern. Boals and Sheppard are both nicked up. Freshman Cody Tippett was in there with the one's but he's not a given to play due to a clearinghouse issue. 4)Tibo D. continues to play well. He made a nice spin move on what would have been a sack (can't hit QB). Very impressive for a true freshman. He should be in the tackle rotation with Cummings, Clifton Jones, ZHUP, Cook and big Reece, though Nieqquo was out for a change with an injury. 5)Also good to see Joe Green finally make a few big runs on short passes. Having seen much of the tight ends make many plays in the passing game. All are big (6-3, 250+). Zeus Barrio is 6-5, 265 and pretty athletic. He might be the second tight end after Green. Not sure where Metise Moore, Zach Herron and Knudson fit. At fullback, love Nick Vermillion. Jordan Waite should get the start but Vermillion is going to be a fan favorite. If you like short, squatty guys who are athletic (who doesn't hint), he's perfect. I could see him playing as a freshman.

    Second scrimmage update

http://towsontigers.com/news/2017/8/19/football-tigers-hold-second-scrimmage-of-preseason.aspx General Comments from RA on scrimmage "They did better in the heat. We pushed them harder, much harder. Fifty plus plays. They responded ok as a group." On Mahalak "Was inconsistent. We're rotating everybody in at wide out so they lack cosnistency. This guy is a little off here, guy is a little off there. That contributed some.." On Toomey "It's a lot easier to kick a ball in a warm weather than 30 degrees. I like to see a little more out of his kickoffs. On what made him mad "There were a couple of instances where something goes wrong and instead of accepting responsibility, they give excuses. It has to be my responsibility and we work from there." On CJ and Shane They were fine. Once Kobe knows where he is going, he'll be something. We are going to be alright. (held Platt out at RB). On Defense "Diondre (Wallace) played really well again. He's playing like a D-1 linebacker. CJ (Clifton Jones) and Zain are playing awesome.Back then, they never took care of their bodies and didn't sleep right, eat right. Now they are doing the right things. They just keep on going. They wore down two years ago. On Freshmen playing in the secondary That was ok. We tried to play everybody today. But after today, we're going to cut the depth chart. We're going to fine tune everything. Some could play this season. On next week Monday and Tuesday will be a bit of the grind. Then we start slowly but surely building to Morgan. Sunday is straight Mogran prep.
  18. Thought I'd try and update the 28-player recruiting class from February, which doesn't include late additions in Jabari Greenwood and John Tsimis. Also not including 2016 recruits Jabari Allen and Dymelle Parker who arrived in the spring and showed great potential. DB Mitchell Boals (Juco transfer)-fighting for starting safety spot with Brandon Sheppard. DB Warren Buckner Jr. -Injured knee, out for the season and will redshirt. OL Cole Cheripko -One of top freshmen lineman. Probably will still redshirt unless there is an injury to a starter. DL Tibo Debaillie-competing for 2nd unit on Dline. Might be rare true freshman defensive linemen to play. Helped that he played in the spring. OL Josh Diaz-Tall lanky lineman needs a year to put on weight but has talent. LB Christian Dixon - Athletic linebacker from North Carolina has shown some potential. WR Rodney Dorsey- Groin injuries have held him back but he can fly. OL D'Mitri Francis (Juco) - Huge lineman from Florida who played in Juco ball in California. Still learning system. Could start eventually. WR Christian Greaves-One of the top recruits of 2017. Having a tough time getting on the field due to injuries. Fortunately for Towson, they are deep at WR. Might redshirt. OLB Nygil Johnson -Former Nevada commit has flashed potential but why play him right away as a backup if you can bulk him up? LB Abdoulaye Konate-currently on 2nd unit. Very speedy and talented player. OL Ethan Knapp -not on roster OL Jacob Laub - not on roster FB Eric Magnfico - Has worked some at RB. FB/HB type. DB Vashon McCants-impressive player with some size at 6-0, 180 to play corner. TE Metise Moore (Juco)-Pushing for playing time DT John Mullins-Probably a redshirt but dominating at times on third team. OL Bryce Perkins -Another PA lineman who will likely redshirt and likely future guard. RB Adrian Platt-Can return kicks but leaving team for a few days and returning probably didn't help chances of playing this year. Definitely has shown he can play. DB Brion Seagraves - Another NC defensive back with similar size to Tye Smith. Likely future safety. DB Coby Tippett - At some point, well, he'll always be Andre Tippett's son but kid has playmaking ability. Likely redshirt. OL Jackson Truitt - Delaware guard who will probably redshirt. OG Zane Ventimigilia (Juco) -Likely starter at right guard FB Nick Vermillion - This dude is a beast. Linebacker, baseball player. Might play this season. TE Myles Wright -Offseason knee injury. Future star once he packs on a little more weight and recovers from ACL. DB Kobe Young-One of the young stars of the camp. Now playing RB. Could still move back to CB. Very talented.

http://www.nola.com/saints/index.ssf/2017/08/10_things_we_learned_from_the.html 9. Darius Victor is a 'Factor Back' The undrafted rookie running back out of Towson had a solid night with 58 yards on 14 carries. The 5-foot-9, 209-pounder has a low center of gravity and runs with good balance and power. He's not going to make the 53-man roster, but Victor looks like a solid contender for the practice squad. I love the way he runs the ball.
