I know it's just two games, but I think we're seeing a very different team in the Skerry era. No longer can they rely on a post player to lead them in scoring. You look at Zane scoring 15 in Game 1 and 17 in Game 2 and it's going to be tough to bring him off the bench this year. Brian Starr was solid after not playing in Game 1 (they want to a long look at Rolle), with 12pts, 3 assists, 1 turnover. That might be asking a lot but they are going to need him to score more. Same with EK at the 4 because Alex Thomas is not an offensive threat and if Morman starts, he's the defensive stopper that can score about 10-11ppg. Morsell was 4-of-13 tonight from the field after not playing in the opener. Not shocking of course and neither is the poor 3-point shooting in the first two games. Hopefully getting more transition points off of turnovers from the press will alleviate the lack of 3-point shooting.
But I know it's the one thing we're really missing (other than a Moto/Davis/Benimon). I do like Drayton's potential as a long-range shooter but it appears he's not going to play much with McNeill and Morsell ahead of him. I could see him redshirt while Ingram is just so darn athletic. But he has Morman and Zane ahead of him.
Also good to see Tunstall and Gorham get more minutes in the first two games. Maybe we'll see a different look with Tunstall starting at the 5 instead of Thomas. That dude is going to be our Dennis Rodman-lite without the drama. He's always around the ball.

I thought I mentioned it in my story on a summer practice a few weeks ago but I guess not. He had hip surgery but should be ok.

There was no story about it on TT.com and the boxscore I re-tweeted had to be wrong. We pressed a lot and forced turnovers, but it says our opponent turned it over just six times. Eddie played, Brian and Mike sat. Deshaun is not playing due to off-season surgery.

I wouldn't say everybody looks like a hero in practice. The quarterback play the last few seasons has been erratic to say the least. Even in practice.

The team practiced under the lights on Sunday night. Sure, they would normally start around this team but with no more two-a-days, they've stretched out practices.
I focused on the offense this time. I think the D is still adjusting to different schemes. Also Reece Burnett was on the sidelines for a change, running the stairs (conditioning?). Good to see Quinn Cox finally out there on the D-line. Harps-Upshur also looked good. First-team D-Line looked like Cummings, Clifton Jones, Harps-Upshur and Malik Tyne. Kaniya Anderson was still out with a hamstring issue.
Also wanted to see John Tsimis, the WR from Rutgers. He was being held out but he had practiced the first week. I'm assuming they are being very careful with him after all the knee surgeries. Receiver appears to be the deepest position on the team. With Jabari Greenwood now in the fold, the competition for the top four spots is going to be intense, though I expect them to rotate about 7-9 players. Brent Richardson, Jabari Allen, Greenwood, Shane Leatherbury, Trey Kilgore, all look like the real deal. Add Ryan Rutkowski, Tsimis and Sam Gallahan fighting for slot WR, though Tsimis can do more if healthy. Then you add Morgan Scroggins, Noah Straub, Brandon Allen and true freshman Rodney Dorsey fighting for time. Should be fun.
It's also fun that the quarterback play looks strong. It wasn't great last season, even at practice. It was ok in the spring, though it was tough to tell because the defense was decimated. When given the time, Mahalak and Stover were excellent and Triston Smith has improved. The accuracy looked good in certain drills but when Klugh, McDade and company were playing in man coverage not a lot of guys could get open. That's when both can use their legs. Also good to see Ellis Knudson out there and around 270 pounds, running around and over people at fullback/tight end.
The O-line had Antonio Harris at left tackle, Kauffman at right tackle, Carnesale at center, Ventemiglia at right tackle and r-freshman Aaron Gryzmkowski (6-4, 260) at left guard. D'Mitrif Francis was with the second team but I assume he'll move up since he's only been here for about a week.
Running backs look like Shane Simpson and C.J. Williams. He's an absolute beast of a runner and pretty agile. But they kid that continues to impress is Platt. My goodness is he quick and elusive. But can he pass block? Always an issue with young backs. He's also pretty similar to Shane where Williams complements him well.

More on Vito and his running style

Tye Smith pushing for a spot in Tennessee, Frank Beltre playing a lot with the New York Jets. Bushrod still in Miami, T-West in B-More, Dangerfield in Pittsburgh. Not sure what's up with Ryan Delaire. Haven't seen his name mentioned after he was cut by Carolina, which is shocking considering he's a pretty good pass rusher. But if Victor makes the Saints, we have a chance at six players in the NFL. https://twitter.com/jetswhispers/status/893986010660569094

Geez, that hard-nosed running style is impressive at first and we saw it fo four years. But it can also take a toll on him. I hope he can begin to add more elusiveness because he won't last or won't stay healthy taking so many collisions no matter how strong or muscular he is.

Yes, the NCAA got rid of two-a-days so there's that. And they also added the new early signing date for football.

I definitely like our chances showing up against Maryland after their ass kicking in Texas and prior to a week off. But I'm way too biased to be trusted.
What is SOT? I'm corn-fused.
Ed where are you tailgating for the Twerps game?
SOT is a term we haven't used in years but did apply to Towson sports from about 1995-2011. Same Old Towson.

Come on guys, we're all Towson fans. No need for this crap since we just started this new site a few weeks ago and are still trying to get the old posters back to the site.

I hated that logo when I was there, but love it now.
That was Kurk Lee who missed the dunk. No wonder Chuck was mad.

I think Zane has a better chance of becoming the star of the team and the guard we were hoping Mike would turn into then Morsell figuring it out. I would hope that Morsell becomes a better all-around player. Rebounds, defends, and dishes a couple of assists per game and not worry about his shooting %.
