    MBB lands big transfer

The great news for Skerry is he won’t be eligible this coming year, so PS has an extra year to make excuses for why he is doing such a horrible job.

    New Gymnastics Coach

Somebody needs to follow it closely. You mention Title IX to an administrator, the antennas go through the roof.

    New Gymnastics Coach

Once the funding was cut by Wayne Edwards,no one could match Filberts programs, since there were significantly smaller resources.

Now that the kids are doing this, we get all of the sad but true stories. This is what college administrators have been doing for years. AD’s, like the the one we had before TL, spend like drunken sailors, drive programs broke in order to have a year or two of progress and then head to a P5 school. The admins are using the mid major mentality to get to “the dance”, to showcase themselves for bigger programs. Place the blame where it belongs. These kids are just playing the system the way admins have for years

    UMass dominates MLax, 14-10

I love Coach N, but the fact is...if a kid has a choice to go to a Loyola, Georgetown, Hopkins, Maryland or Towson......the pecking order is obvious. As great as Coach N is...and he is as good as you get.....university reputation, goes a long way. He has done a remarkable job given the recruiting difficulties of the sport that he has to deal with in this particular sport.

Without knowing much of this fellow from Mason, the AD has to make a decision on the style of basketball she wants. Perhaps Paul Westphal/LMU up and down the court or more defense oriented Skerryball. Often the hire is based on the style the AD wants

The big difference is the AD wants “her guy”. Trying to put her stamp on the department

Coaching extensions come with a 20 win season. No further explanation required

    2 down...

I double checked. He has been at Elon 13 years, so he was the choice when Mike Herman got the job. I would keep an eye out on all Elon programs.

    2 down...

Maybe when Mike Herman got the job. Not 100% sure which one, but at some point, he was a first choice.

Guaranteed the new coach will be a great hire. The AD was the one Towson wanted to hire when Waddell eventually got the job. He is great!

    TOWSON 53, DREXEL 49 - CAA CHAMPIONS

It will be interesting to see how much the department values this championship in terms of length of coaching extension.

    TOWSON 53, DREXEL 49 - CAA CHAMPIONS

Now that’s what I call a great program turnaround. Congrats to all involved.

A business, just like the NBA. Pay them what they are worth to the school.

It will go over the same way it goes over in “professional” sports. You get paid what you are worth.....what you financially bring to the program. If you don’t like what you are paid, go to a schoo” that will pay you more, if you can find it. That is the way the world works.

Can’t answer that one......but a question I would expect on Jeopardy!

You can tell it is a new AD at William and Mary. Previous AD’s viewed the school for what it is academically and woul rarely if ever fire a coach for not winning. They are a unique school and while athletics is important, not nearly as important as graduating Presidents, Congressmen and CEO’s.

    CAA tournament records since 2011-12

So much respect for that train of thought. Some folks just like to plant a seed and watch it grow. Maybe not more money but certainly more satisfaction creating something out of nothing!
  20. I feel as though it was not meaningless until the NCAA kept expanding and expanding the field. It is just so watered down now that the field is barely an above average field. Post season play is great, but you want the opportunity against elite squads and that is not the NIT, CBI, CIT or any other combination of letters that you want to come up with.
  21. Sort of like the NFL’s old Runner Up Bowl
  22. It doesn’t matter. They are both good teams, but one will advance to the Big Dance. The other goes to a Made for TV event which is, in reality meaningless.

Skerry Era by the numbers, Part I

    Didn’t TL get a 4 year extension?

Skerry Era by the numbers, Part I

Are those the tournaments you have to pay 50,000 to play in? Quite a reward.

Skerry Era by the numbers, Part I

I would love PS to be successful. Next year does not matter as make or break. He has a longer term contract that this department can’t afford to buyout. That is just the way it is. I don’t like to be negative, but I need a reason to think something good might happen. Other tha Brian Fobbs, I don’t see it.
