    New TV Deal for CAA

Is there a TV deal for the conference championship?

    No press conference but.....

I was not particularly referring to you about a pass. That just seems to be the tone of the majority of people here. I just happened to see yours first. I am sorry if I offended you.

    No press conference but.....

So you want him to give back his extension year because his team did not win a POST SEASON game, but a basketball team that has won nothing in 8 or 9 years......not even getting to a conference championship game......gets the support because we are not in last place in a below average league? I wish I could understand why there is such a difference.

    MBB falls to Charleston, 54-53

Hard to believe that being a below average team in a below average conference is improvement. How low have our standards gotten?

    MBB falls at Drexel, 72-66

I apologize for jumping to a conclusion about the posters not caring. My mistake. It was just one of many possibilities. I will be more careful from here on out.

    That is very true.

Nobody posting is worse news than negative posts. Nobody posting means many of the followers just do not care.
  9. Not much to say. Just hope the players give it their all for the balance of the season. It has to be pretty tough for them.

    5 stages of grief...

We are 268 in percentage made at 32%

331 in assists to turnover ratio. The only reason I point out these stats is because this relates to fundamental basketball skills.

    5 stages of grief...

We are also tied for 257th in 3 point field goals attempted

Just checked the rankings. Towson is 343 out of 353

Billy Packer would always say that if Brian Magid hit the rim his shots should not count, since very few of his shots ever did.

This is very similar to the Ravens and Lamar. The NFL is a passing league. The Ravens brought in something different and it works temporarily until it gets figured out. College basketball is up and down the court and 3 point shooting. Slow down pound the boards, no solid point guard may have worked st one time. Now everyone knows how to beat that style. Brian Magid would be a superstar in today’s college basketball.

    New Year's Wish List

What does anyone think of buying 30 minutes on a local TV station on a weekly basis for an interview and highlight show of Towson athletics. Hopefully you could pay for it by selling advertising? That could help become Baltimore's college team.

    New Year's Wish List

IMHO, what is needed is a marketing guru. MW did a very good job of getting people excited. He had other issues, but he did get people excited. Someone needs to be hired who can bring a level of excitement. Right now, there does not seem to be any reason to attend a Towson athletic event if you are not a loyal follower of the program. Having these special nights, whether it be education night or military night or first responders night gets stale since everyone uses those.

MBB, Fobbs stun UMBC in double OT, 80-76

Good win. Shows how important free throw shooting is.

    Reality Check

While there may be no reason we can’t fill the bowl on one side, the fact is we have not. Towson has had every type of leadership possible. We have had a major league athlete as an AD. We have had an AD whose main focus was staying within a budget. We have had an AD whose actions and personality was mainly behind the scenes. We have had an AD who was braggadocio and spent money he did not have to generate student interest. We have had an AD whose history was as a great fundraiser. And still, the student interest has remained constant. We have a new arena and student interest remains constant. Is it worth going 20 million more in debt to see if that is the solution to a problem that really does not exist with money we do not have. Towson University is a terrific place with much to be proud of. History has taught us what Towson students want from athletics, under all of the varied types of leadership.

    Today’s performance was dreck

The recurring “it’s a new team” or “it’s a young team” needs to stop. Skerry is the one that put this team together. It is not as if someone on the street to,d him he had to coach a new or inexperienced team. If you get extensions when you win, you take the heat when they don’t

    Skerry recruits who’ve stayed

The discussion that goes on over 4 year players, 2 years, transfers and graduate transfers is somewhat interesting. However, the bottom line is to win something meaningful, whatever it takes. That is the formula that has not yet been figured out by this coaching staff. Each coach has his or her own style. That is fine, as long as it produces the desired result. We are still waiting.

    Skerry recruits who’ve stayed

I think you are missing the point. No one, at least in my opinion, is ripping Skerry in regard to 4 year players. You can make the case that the talent level has increased over the past 5 years. As I see it, all that any detractors is saying is that it has been 8 years and his teams have won nothing substantial and not even gotten to a conference championship game. How much time does a coach get to produce. Without question, the program is more competitive than when he got to Towson, but that is a terribly low bar. 4 year players, 1 year players, transfers, no one cares. What the Tiger faithful want is a meaningful win. I don’t see one on the horizon.

why we lost 4 of our last 5

    agreed

why we lost 4 of our last 5

I have no idea what the "fans" are thinking here. Most are already giving basketball a pass this year because we have a below average team. If they had or will make it to post season, Skerry is King of the Hill. He got an eight year contract winning nothing of significance, but RA is held to an entirely different standard.....without a brand new venue to play in. Ambrose gets post season twice in five years, once to a national championship game and you want to get rid of him and do nothing but complain. You don't know how lucky we are to have him.
