  1. Not so sure it is understandable. The better path would be for the fundraising arm to raise the necessary money. Otherwise, don’t spend money you don’t have. These kids already can’t afford college. Add increases in parking, meals, tuition, room an board and the debt the college students leave with just becomes worse. To my mind, it all comes back to fundraising, not increased student fees. If you can not raise enough money, it must not be important enough to a large enough base of people.

  2. Sometimes it is hard to understand, but the students at Towson, over the years, have shown they have very little interest in athletics. Winning does not, at Towson, to make much of a difference. When you are excited about a crowd of 2200, coming off a great conference win, that is all you need to know. That does have an impact on recruiting. Sellouts make a program more attractive.

Coach Ambrose as well as the other head coaches to varying degrees have reached out to the greater student body. I hope someone is able to get the students interested. As of now, no one has found the secret sauce. It would make a difference.

Overwhelming talent? Not in the frontcourt. We're starting Alex Thomas and Eddie Keith. They are role players. Time to start Gorham, who has been as inconsistent as the team. Maybe with more minutes, he produces more. Bring EK off the bench as a point guard/point forward.

Perhaps I did not phrase it properly. Compared to the rest of the league, Coach Skerry has the deepest team in terms of talent A to Z. I thought from day 1 that this team will go as far as Mike Morsell takes them. His play has to reach his talent level. If it does not, I cant see the team doing anything above average. If he plays to his level, this team has a chance to win a championship. Never was really sold on Eddie Keith as being a big factor.

  4. I was optimistic that 5he Wiilian and Mary comeback would be a springboard, having finally won a close one. With the overwhelim8ng talent, compared to the rest of 5he CAA, Coach Skerry has to be pulling his hair out, trying t9 find a way to get these guys to play to their ability.

As long as he can get it done before March 8n Charleston, th3 rest of these games do not matter.

  5. Neither Coach Skerry or Coach Truax or Coach Angotti has to be recognized as "THE MOST SUCCESSFUL". How about just recognizing that each had some strong accomplishments and contributed to the history of Towson Basketball. By declaring someone "THE MOST", you are minimizing the others.

Skerry has done some very good things, but his team does need to win a championship at some point and time (not the one against Manhattan) to strengthen his legacy.

You should, however, recognize the accomplishments of all, without setting up a list as to who is 1 or 2 or 3.

  6. Interesting, but totally understandable. Think about why Tom Brady is so revered....he finishes.. there are many teams that in football are good for 55 minutes...in college basketball, good for 38 minutes.  It is the teams that are great in the last two minutes that are the teams that are remembered. All you can do is work hard to be one of those teams and without doubt, Coach Skerry will have the team working hard to be one of those. Hopefully they reach that goal, but until they do...........

  7. The guys played great. Was a significant win. Just as you hold your horses after a four game losing streak, this is just something to build on, not get carried away about . They need to continue to play like this. The capabilities were shown yesterday, but the key for a really good team is to do this consistently. Looking forward to more efforts like this and less like the ones from the losing streak.

  8. It all starts at the top. I read the questions as to why Z did not touch the ball and Starr took the last two shots. This comes from the coach. It comes from the bench. Practice should have set up the play for this exact situation. We now have played 5 good teams and lost to them all. Beating Manhattan and getting a trophy was not a significant day.

While we lead the CAA in wins over the past few years, I continue to look for a significant win. Beating W & M at the buzzer last year was nice and beating Temple a couple of years ago was nice, but I can't remember, though there may be one I don't remember, a win that we can hang our hat on as a program builder. You talk about lack of a big man to score. You talk about basketball IQ. This is all the responsibility of the coaches. While this staff has changed the mentality from 1-31 to an above average CAA team, that was a while ago. Now is the time for significant wins.

  9. Nobody is finding a way to shoot the team down...they are headed in the right direction......but you just need to hold your horses before you name them national champions. They are a good CAA team....and that is something to be appreciated. Coach Skerry has done a wonderful job....but to get to the next level, they need a signature win.....and a win over Pitt does that...a win over Manhattan does not.

  10. I said absolutely nothing negative. All I said is, YES, we need to beat a Pitt on the road if you want significant media coverage in Baltimore.....and NO, losing to Pitt does not make it a fraud....it makes it mid major.

This team appears to be a solid CAA team.......but that is not enough to get coverage instead of Maryland.

Again, this team looks good, but many of you have been following a Towson longer than I........when was the last time, TU got coverage......above the fold. The students don’t care and generally the community does not care either. You need to have a signature win.  Post season does not mean CBI.......post season means either NIT or NCAA.....then folks might pay attention.

All in all, just enjoy a good basketball team.

  11. This team does look solid, but the battle for media is one that Towson will always face. Baltimore is Orioles, Ravens and Maryland......when the Tigers get do something extraordinary, the media...Sun, Radion, TV News, etc. ..they will get a mention. To win the tournament they beat LaSalle and Manhattan.....I understand that it is great to win the event and where the program is now is unquestionably in the right direction....but they beat LaSalle and Manhattan. Once they beat a Power 5 school or a strong basketball school, such as Georgetown, the media will improve, but it will never be comparable to what Maryland gets here. That is what made VCU (as well as Shaka Smart ) and George Mason (as well as Jim Larranaga) hot commodities. This team can do it, but until they do, they are a media afterthought.

Does it matter?  Fans (what few are left) are growing tired of rob and co. Attendance is dropping drastically. Season ticket holders are not renewing   Students don’t care.

Program isn’t stagnant, it’s on life support

so easy to take pot shots. as an athletic program (in all sports) TU needs folks who are positive and reach out to try and hep rather thank take satisfaction in being negative......making Towson Athletics relative in the Baltimore market is a tough job and Coach Ambrose, along with Coach Nadelen, Skerry and others are doing a remarkable job against all odds. . This fan is not tired of rob and co....so speak for yourself.

Good ending to the season as some have said here against mediocre teams. I'm almost confident we'll be in the same position and saying the same things next year at this time just like before. Another 4-8 season or so...

Good thing we have such loyal and true blue fans/supporters.
