Well there it is... Wonder who is the odd man out.

Serious question... I know how/why larger schools cut sports programs (no football/basketball cash coming in), but the smaller schools, is this do to loss of student fees? Mid Major sports aren't making money and overall are a money pit. WM has a new AD whose been gungho about a lot of things and have rubbed many of their old snooty alum the wrong way. What are we doing? Not cutting sports, but are pay-cuts being forced? It's interesting because we have 3 big money spenders among mens sports, which is higher than other schools in the CAA.

Not exactly on topic... but WM just announced the cutting of 7 sports, including track, swimming and volleyball.

LOL. Busted. I just looked up the player, and he went to Seneca HS in MARYLAND, not NJ... why the Hell is his dad calling it Townson? Really?!?😤

Parents are the best supporters... LOL I'm surprised that an off-season football thread on a depth player got two full pages.

As much as I hate the reputation we have, around the league, as a transfer U, we are what we are. This goes for football and basketball. Rob and Pat have built their reputation on the transfer route, and it has lead to some successful seasons and some where it blew up in their faces. Recruiting and developing young talent straight from HS has been a major weakness.

I mean if Zane can average 4 assists a game, we should throw him and the team a parade down York road. We have one guard since 2011-2012 (Kris Walden! LOL) under Skerry total more than 82 assists in a season. *Checks notes** ZANE MARTIN!

We don't agree much... but had the same feelings/thoughts on this. As a lot of people stated this is either going to end very well or blow up. I only saw a few games, most were late in the year when he was getting more PT. They obviously press more than us (who doesnt?!) but it seemed like he was giving better effort on the defensive end. NM also had lots of players leave/get suspended last year, they were dysfunctional as one could get. Also, we don't get Fobbs without Zane leaving. While I think Zane is a better scorer, Brian was a better all around player than Zane. And most importantly wanted to be here.

Or May, or June. Doesn't matter when the CAA tournament is held.

That is my question.. is someone leaving? At first I didn't like the move.. taking someone back who quit on the team and left them... kind of BS IMO. But the more I think about it, he can score and we are losing 43 points from last years team. Seems like he maybe matured and grew up alittle and was on the conference all academic team. I'm thinking this is either a great move and he helps lead them a long way... or it blows up i everyones face and he doesn't finish the season If he is eligible right away and the UAB kid also, this will be one of the top 2-3 talented teams in the Skerry era in the CAA. There would be zero excuses to not cut the nets down in March (if there's a season). He is going to have his hands full with one ball and 200 minutes for 10-11 quality players... Can he learn to manage egos and players roles? Hasn't so far, so it will be interesting.

Serious question, does the merchandise matter? It is all through the school store, not "athletics", correct? I know its "the same" but it really isn't. $400 a year with big ten network money is more than I thought they would be paying! The excuse is "I don't care if we have college sports or not. I don't go and I don't get any benefit out if it, etc" It's like paying into Social Security tax, most of us won't get anything out of it, but still need to pay in... CAA is spread out far, which requires flights to some away games. The pod system has worked well and is good for saving money, but a more centralized conference would be better. The issue with the conference is so many different sports/needs of the institutions. NE- hockey school Hofstra- basketball and lax Drexel- ? Delaware- Football Towson- Lacrosse WM- Football/Basketball JMU- Football UNCW- Basketball/Baseball Elon- ? Charleston- Basketball/Baseball Only 2 schools play Football, Basketball and Lacrosse and thus waste more money, Delaware and Us. It's just all over the place

I thought the same thing. No release from them. As bad as the leadership is, this is a new situation and I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. Besides the players families, the band and some students who like to get drunk in the parking lot prior... not much else.

Spring football isn’t going out happen. Such a waste of money. I’m thinking a decent number of teams cut football. Maybe not caa but fcs teams Just adding to the years of not winning a playoff game...

500 is lower than most in the conference

Well that was apparent for some time now. Can’t have a playoff when 75% of teams aren’t playing Wonder what the effect this has on programs that are serious about football and athletics, moving up, and ones who don’t, drooping football and other programs.

The "we are good at recruiting and need to keep it quiet" line is pretty damn funny. We are pretty good at landing transfers that fall through the cracks.

Basketball: Haven’t won a game in the dance in years. Haven’t really been close. Moved to Smaller arena for tourney. Tons of transfers leaving Football: besides 1 team haven’t made any noise in the playoffs recently. Teams being upset by much worse in playoffs. Now covid transfers Overall: no tv deal. Shitty flo sports. Bad leadership
