    2019 Basketball Offers

Is he new to the game too? If so a raw big man is worth the shot. Also helps if say Solomon blows up next year, to keep him around

Why would you be mad if the teams are trying to get better? Changes are needed and coaches leaving is a start. (Just wish we could be among them) get a tv deal work on having the good players not transferring (not talking about wm and Elon situation) have your teams play better ooc gsmes. We for pkenplay nobodies. Schedule better

I agree. If we were 14 seed and beat a 3 it wouldn’t be big news. UConn is UConn. Game being prime time too helps.

This could end up being a HUGE mistake for WM. Where’s my drum and symbol?? all joking aside.. never been a fan of their fan base for obvious reasons, so I for one am not sad at all.

Audgie is leaving too. It’ll be bad when wm sweeps us next year

    2 down...

Crazy. 13 years and they fired him?! He just needed more time. They, like us, should just be happy with the little mediocre programs we have.

Just looking at the schedule, only one team in the field has more losses than Towson (about 5 others with 12 losses), which is another reason for the lower seed. Womens basketball, just no parity.

CAA offices are a joke. The new regime doesn't voice their concerns and step up to the plate for the teams as well as they should.

Made a great football hire. Well hopefully great for them and will suck at jmu. Also wm is apparently paying the buyout of tony via athletics funds and not private donations

    UConn?

So, Are they selling championship gear? Caa website only has neastern shirts.

    UConn?

Damn. Bright side the game is on espn2 and they have the best seed all time by any men’s or women’s Towson team in the dance.

Not surprising one bit. It's Win or get canned at most schools.

    TOWSON 53, DREXEL 49 - CAA CHAMPIONS

Congrats to the team and staff!

Gone at William and Mary after 16 years. Skerry is now second most tenured coach, to one with 2 NCAA appearances and 6 CAA Tourney Semifinal appearances in 7 years...

Yeah... just alittle interest from the big boys.

Depends if he’s graduating in 3 years or not. Pro prospect overseas may not want to wait another year and sit out. Millon is in year 4 after transferring to bc and May be gone

Won at Drexel by 1 early in the season and Lost at home by 33 a week ago.

Agreed. Especially if a coach leaves, the player should be able to transfer anywhere they want to and not sit out. Charles Barkley had something on them being paid the other day. "I’ve heard these idiots say, ‘why don’t we let them sell their likeness?’ That’s great if you’re a star. Let me tell you something If I’m a big fat offensive lineman and the QB is selling his jersey and he’s getting commercials, and the RB, and I’m actually doing all the work, how do you think that’s gonna go over in the locker room?,"

Benimon and Burwell dominated 5 on 5's in practice their red-shirt year. They did so with 3 walk-ons and Flash.

If he can shoot and spread the court that is really good. Hopefully our players cut and move enough and he can find them on passes. We may not be the biggest team next year, in bulk, any chance we go to a match-up zone because of our length?
  21. TuTigers2012

    Tony Shaver

It is for everyone involved, even if the players "aren't being paid." (which I won't get into here, as it seems we have differing viewpoints on that as well). Players leave, coaches leave, to do whats best for them. It's how to get to the next level and keep climbing the ladder. Look at Chris Mack, he left his Alma mater to go get paid at Louisville.

good for them! Drexel will be tough

    Tony Shaver

Yawn. Winning more than 2 games in 8 conference tournaments is not asking to much, especially with 3 of them in your backyard. So you are saying that because we were a small little commuter school, with bad sports, we should just be okay with that? FGCU, Loyola, UMBC, SFA and others haven't had success in current players lifetime either until a few years ago.. The team is not an embarrassment and has been documented numerous times of the work they have done in and out of the classroom. This is and has been commended. Skerry is a nice guy, but has taken this program as far as he can. The CAA is about guard play and player development from freshmen to seniors. Neither of those are Skerry or his staffs strengths. If you want to compare Skerry and Shaver thats fine, but its apples and oranges. Shaver's first few years were in a good conference. Skerry has had the luck of not coaching in the heyday of the CAA with ODU, VCU, and George Mason. Facilities, ease of acceptance, funds, etc. you name it and he has had the advantage. Also, for as much as everyone blames Kennedy and co for being ineligible, the AD and previous regime are just as much to blame. "No money" to remove him earlier leaves a lame duck coach with the inability to recruit or frankly give a sh*t as he knows he is out the door. (that is wrong and the easy way out, but thats what happened). Its also easier to pass classes when you have academic advisers and tutors which one staff had and the other did not. The funding of the program going from a D2 level to a D1 makes a huge difference.

No, just correcting the below statement. If a school like WM can axe their coach, there is no excuse why others can't. If you want them gone bad enough, you can make it work and "find the money" needed. Problem is we are stuck in perpetual mediocrity and most seem okay with that. I think that letting go of a coach in a situation like this (or next year, after another 15 win season and first round exit) that complacency is not accepted here and maybe light a fire under the asses of everyone else in the athletic department and university as a whole. To bad that our AD is as soft as it comes, and wouldn't do any of that. It's the constant, "it's worked ok before, lets just keep it going," SOT mindset that has plagued the university top to bottom.
