I don’t think any of us are asking for vcu havoc or those Arkansas teams. We are just looking to play a bit faster than UVA. Bad offenses need easy buckets. If we can’t get to the line and don’t shoot well from there, this is the next best strategy

Unless every other team in the league becomes ineligible or comes down the with measles a la the original mighty ducks, I don’t think we need to worry about that

We aren’t funded or have resources that other schools have. Or so that’s told to us by the excuse markers here. Agree with you on it nothing says you can’t do both! Wish he and the football coach moved on after this initial slight success. That’s the natural progression. How many coaches stick around at mid majors especially for over a decade?! Not a lot. They either win and move on, or get canned

It doesn’t happen for whatever reason or another. Press? Why not we have some decent individual defenders who are long and athletic. Nope we just give a token press from time to time with jones on the inbounder. Hardly set up a press with Suliman in. Regardless we just back off after the opponent brings the ball 5 feet up the court. A few traps and steals will lead to easy (easier-ish in our case since we can’t finish), buckets rather than trying to deflate the ball for 26 second and chuck up a contested three or have you undersized role player center try and go 1 on 4 and finish when he had issues finishing regardless if anyone’s covering him. Other teams have go to guards, we don’t. Haven’t in a decade plus. Coach had 13 years** FIFY Close game and King and his team didn’t choke. That’s sad and just shows you how bad we are under pressure

Graduating players and making them better men is a goal. But winning games is also a goal. Afraid we are turning into the laughing stock of an already weakened conference. Tonight was close to rock bottom. Obviously end of Kennedy early skerry was but we are approaching that. Lame Duck coach walking around. 2-3 road wins?! Lol If only we played a decent OOC schedule to prepare us. Instead we played 4 of the worst 8 teams in college hoops and still finished 6-6

Messiah jones was. 9 and 5 game shooting 60% at wofford. Chase paar averaged 5.5 and 5 while shooting 55% at gw. They come to Towson and a step down at the caa and suddenly look like the guys who get their power zapped in space jam. No disrespect they are role players but just examples of players who have gotten worse.

James would be our leading scorer, even though he’s been dead for a century. Speaking of century is that the last time we’ve made it to the tourney? PATHETIC, EMBARRASSING. if we want to be a semi real D1 program changes are needed after this season Fire Pat!

The big foreign guy plays and is good. With that said amari Williams is “good” but have never really seen it against us.

Lol What else is there to say? In all seriousness they shoot it well from deep and average 8 steals a game. Will the real Charles Thompson show up?! I guess it’s early still tomorrows just the 13th game!

Need to win 1 against the hawks this week. This is the more realistic of the two. Their top 3 players are pretty good and one has a lot of size. Battle of the choking coaches!!

Already talking about next year, in the 23-24 season thread? CAA play is still a few days away. Sheesh

To add, yes I consider sdsu a road game. I’m talking real road games where you don’t wake up in your own bed. Coppin and umbc we probably had lesser dismayed bus rides to the games, day of, then true road games from hotel to arena. The games in Charleston obviously are neutral but again, it’s like a road game. The lack of finals really is the breaking point. How many different groups of players have we had, and the same results. Are/were they ALL not clutch and disappeared when the bright lights were on?! A lot, sure but we had conference players of the year, 3 all conference players in a season and numerous others with nothing to show. Every other program has caught lightning in a bottle at least once or has been good enough to get there. Why not us?! The strategy of beating teams down physically with defense and rebounding works to win games in the regular season but it’s tough to do that as your main strategy when you are trying to win 3 games in 3 days. At some point you need to put the ball in the bucket consistently.

I thought we were going to be a better defense team. Because of the slowest pace in the county it masks a lot. We don’t allow a lot of points but looking at the numbers we aren’t great on that side of the ball either. We are average. Need to be much better than average on d if our offense is well below it.

So do you and other fans put up with losing? My guess would be no. Monmouth is probably one of the 2/3 biggest games of the year. They are a vastly improved team and we aren’t playing them in March where King might actually choke more than Pat. Haven’t won a road game all year. Can we get the first one in conference play? If not we could be looking at a 1-4 start. Scoring is going Happy new year. One day and closer to end. Caa is pretty top heavy and we are likely right in the middle, 6-10 range. Having a tougher schedule in league play than other teams does not help

We are really celebrating the second longest tenured coach without a trip to the dance or conference championship APPEARANCE?! .538 win percentage.(187-160) without the first year. Not even getting into the big game failures. Hanging as many community service banners in the rafters as anything for on court success is damning. Facts are you friends. Don’t be scared of them! Honest question do most of you have pro or college sports team that you root for and watch??

Agree with a lot of this. Tarke being a set shot flat footed 3 point shooter isn’t going to help us. Jones and Sulaiman are meh. Combined if they give us 10 and 7 boards a night that’s ok. Lowery and Suliman got lost on defense a lot today with their cuts. Shooting is a concern. Teams should go mainly zone. Turnovers are bad but most are from our very uninspiring front court. did Cole come in as a shooter? Seems like he is playing like may on offense last year.

Our opponent in todays scrimmage had some nice plays and is apparently good at their level of play. Need some type of live game like situations with a long break. Last year and in years past we have sucked early in conference play. Hopefully some of our guys getting a few minutes against someone other than black and gold practice uniforms helps. Love to see the walkons get the last 8 minutes. These guys practice hard, run scout and do little things so playing time is great to see for them. All 5 on the court to finish this scrimmage were much closer to the level of play. 6-6 OOC. Was hoping for 7-5 or 8-4 if things fell into place. Truly we were 1-3, in teams similar to us and where we want to be. W Umass. L Bryant, UNT and South Dakota State. Wake and Colorado were much better than I thought they’d be. Robert Morris and the local teams much worse. lots of questions for conference play. Biggest in concerning order: -can we improve from a mediocre/average defensive team to a decent one? -making shots within 5 feet?! -can we win a road game? -will the front court mess continue?/how will the young players react to conf play? Our best 4 players are 3 freshmen and a sophomore -will we score enough/shoot well enough to compete? -are we really that bad at the free throw line? -how will the recent transfer fit in? Schedule is tough, but think we can be between 6 and 9 wins in league play. That will then put the coach around 3 to 6 wins away from 200 next year!
