Still went 1-1 with him in the tournament at home. The win was a real grind it out struggle to against a 7 seed.

lol
2-6 2 AND 6.
Needs to make the Finals.

Skerry era team. But I retract my statement as Towson Media Guide was incorrect. They had us with 19 against Kansas (which felt odd, but didnt look at ESPN) on 58 points... LOL. So 19 done ONCE against D1 Team

Not going to speak for everyone who is on that side; but this is year 9 and we have seen stagnant/no growth over the past 5 years after Benimon (There has been some this year, and again we all give credit where its due)
Taking out 2011-2012 he has 130-118 record through yesterday. That's decent/OK. Is it worthy of the 8 year crazy extension he got? NO.
He had the 2 time POTY and didn't make it to the CAA Finals. Numerous transfers who did not work out.
78-63 CAA record through yesterday. This is pretty good, I'll give him that. We beat up on the bad teams and usually come up short against the top tier. The CAA has been AWFUL since he took over so take that with a grain of salt. The CAA has 1 NCAA win since he took over and that was VCU his first year. The CAA only has 1 team win a game in the NIT in that time as well, and that was again his first year.
2-6 in the CAA Tournament and 0 Final appearances. This is what needs to change and why people are antsy. Win 2 games next week.

Just now, TSU88 said:That’s a funny quote, but insulting at the same time. There’s some truth to it, but it’s not like every basket last night was a put back after a missed shot
When you've played that style for a long period of time, it kind of sticks. Ask WM fans what they call Skerry's "style" of play

18 is the most this year against a real team. It is 1 behind the all time Skerry era record of 19, done twice. (we had 2 20 assist games in OT games). If anyone can name the opponent that we had the first 19 assist game, I would be shocked! Hint they are very good.

Also, no matter what happens Saturday/Sunday, we are wearing white, (or gold or grey) as the "home" team on Sunday. We can finish 4th or 3rd.
3 Seed:
A Towson win over NE and we are the 3 seed, playing NE again in the first round.
OR
A Charleston loss, and we are the 3 seed. We would play Charleston if we lose to NE.
4 Seed:
A Towson loss and Charleston win. We would play Delaware.
Delaware cannot be anything but a 4/5 seed.

I thought+ we did a nice job mixing up defenses in the first half, playing some zone. Even though it didn't work, they got out of it but mixing up the defenses helps. Mixing up the personnel as well. Using Dottin against Buie and going back to the small lineup when Sanders picked up two quick fouls and Tunstall was well ineffective on offense. The small lineup is a must esp. with Gray out. When you can spread the offense with Fobbs and Timberlake up front instead of having Tunstall (sorry) shoot bricks from the outside, it makes us tougher to guard. We should go small a min. of 15 minutes per game, but also depends on matchup. Tough to do it against W&M.
Agreed. Credit where credit is due. They have made adjustments in games and at half this season, where in years past they did not.
Playing a perimeter based team like, Hofstra, Elon, NE, UNCW, the smaller lineup works well.

If it holds 4,200 for hoops, then I'm 6'3! (I'm not) They did have a shuttle (12 passenger van) taking you from the further lot and drops you right at the gate. It wouldn't have been a far walk, during the day would be fine, like 1.5 blocks. But it was a nice perk. The security, concession employees and transportation folks were extremely nice and friendly.
Concessions are pricey (go figure) but they do have booze. Beer, wine, spiked seltzers, and mixed alcoholic drinks

It’s not in a good neighborhood, but DC police had a presence in the area when I went. I felt safe. I’m assuming they’ll have even a bigger presence for the tournament
Same. It is small. I was saying 3,600 after they take out seats for band and "students" There is literally NOTHING around it. Not even a McDonalds or Dunkin Donuts. The cops on EVERY corner after the game was good.
Also, NE start freshman PG got hurt last game against Drexel and according to their board will probably be out until the Tournament..

Lol. He’s in over his head.
Has anyone else been to the ArenA??

3 minutes ago, TSU88 said:Our athletic department should look into chartering some buses to get some students down to DC.
Yeah they should but will they? Will they have interest? I would think if they started it early they could do some funding for it. I know college kids don’t have 50-60 bucks for the trip. But if they asked alum and season ticket holders to contribute money for tickets (for non athletes of course!). I wouldn’t mind “sponsoring” and paying for some student tickets to get them down there.

Yeah Ne attendance is awful. And that’s coming from us..
with 3,600 seats there won’t be a large contingent of anyone.
DC good location for tourney. Arena in a bad neighborhood and alittle to small.
Hate the sat-tues format and that we are a week before most other conferences. Feel like it hurts the team going to the NCAA’s. I know it’s for “tv” but for cbsn on a Tuesday? Psht

2 minutes ago, TSU88 said:Lets win Sunday & get 3rd place. I think that would put us in a rematch with NE in round 1. Not the worst scenario, as hopefully NE will have only a small contingent of fans in DC. Then if we could get a W in round one, we would avoid Hofstra in the semi’s
NE takes the air out of the ball and is deadly efficient offensively and from the line. Their defense isn’t at its typical level and they rebound poorly due to not having any size. Murphy’s been out almost all year and they start 6’6” bolden Brace the shooter at 5

9 minutes ago, Chris Datres said:There may have been a message sent after losing to W&M last Thursday night where all we did was settle for jumpers and try to dribble through everyone. Skerry said so in his postgame that night. These guys definitely responded to whatever was said based on those assist stats from these last 2 games.
Likely. But WM was playing phenomenal defense and rebounded well that night. I’m going to give you one of your quotes “there are 5 guys trying to win on the other side too”

2 minutes ago, TSU88 said:So, help me out here. NE is crushing JMU tonight, & will go to 9-8. But we’re 11-6, so even if we lose to NE on Sunday, they can’t catch us. I know we can’t finish 1st, but I think we also can’t drop to 6th. If we win Sunday, & W&M loses at home to Elon (unlikely) where does that leave us? In that scenario, both W&M & us would be 12-6.
3rd. They own the tiebreaker both 1-1 against Hofstra but they swept Delaware and 1-1 against Charleston. We were 1-3 vs that group

3 minutes ago, TSU88 said:So, what happens if we beat NE on Sunday & somehow W&M loses at home Saturday to Elon? We’d both be 12-6 & split during the regular season. Who gets the tiebreaker & 2nd place?
wm. They have the tiebreak. 3 is the highest we can go. They are 1-1 against hoftsra. 1-1 against Charleston and 2-0 against Del

A win at be Sunday gives us a rematch with them a week later

1 minute ago, BK_Brian said:So, where can we finish? What tiebreakers do we have with UD and C of C? God, I hope we beat NE and finish as the 3 seed (or even 2 seed).
No 2 seed unless a team doesn’t show up in DC. 3 is the best we can do. win And we are 3 lose and Delaware and Charleston win we could fall to 5.
Holy shit what a beatdown on the boards 24 on like 39 missed shots?! They brought the effort tonight against the best starting 5 in league. Our bench killed it tonight especially when you compare it to their “bench”. Wish we didn’t give away the one earlier this year or the Charleston game. Woulda have made Sunday interesting.
33% from 3 and only 9 ft attempts on the road and still win against a good and hot team?! I’ll take it!
But he still needs to win games in March

Assuming most on here probably got the email the other day from Athletics...but wanted to post it just in case anyone else is interested.
The bus from the event to the arena is nice, since there is literally nothing around the arena. With that said, it is a nice little venue. Any chance they can get a bus of students down for the Sunday game? It's a real shame that as the closest school with a large alumni base within the Baltimore/DC area that we can't have good fan support.

Not that it matters to much but...
With 2 wins we clinch the 3 Spot.
With a NE loss tonight we clinch the 5.
With a Win tonight we clinch the 4.

17 minutes ago, mat1992 said:One bright spot is that Hofstra has nothing to play for but pride, pun intended.
Ya think JM might try to rest some of his starters?!
Sheesh. That bench is non-existent. (I'm sure one of them will go off and score 25 on us now). Buie has played 28+ minutes in the last 12 CAA games with 5 of them going all 40! That's pretty good for a guy almost on AARP.
MBB beats Hofstra 76-65 to break their 8-game winning streak

So because a guy who “turned it around” but never made the NCAA’s in a weak conference and a little above 500 record had 15 years of job security before finally leaving, we won’t get good candidates?🤔
I’ve said this before. You don’t know until you try. There are tons of young hungry coaches out there. I along with others would love for Towson to be a stepping stone school for coaches because that means they won. Rather than middle aged coaches being here over a decade and stagnant programs???
