That UNCW sweep of Charleston is going to loom large in the conference title race. Drexel is off this Saturday and goes to UNC-W and Charleston in their next two, followed by playing two of three against Hofstra in their following three.
Something tells me if we can win at Hofstra we can start credibly putting ourselves at the UNC-W/Charleston level of the conference conversation. Still too far away to start talking about conference titles, but if Towson wins this weekend it would be tied for first with Drexel with no more road games against Drexel, Delaware, Charleston or Monmouth (they haven't lost at home in conference play yet). There are still a lot of landmines and it is way too early to assume wins, but we have set ourselves up well so far.
Top 4 is now the goal since NIT doesn’t happen for finishing first. Finish top 4. Get whatever amount of byes and go from there.
Hofstra is tough at home and has three really good offensive weapons -
To get a top 4 spot, this game is crucial.

Last nights games were wild. 3-8 will likely end with very similar records so H2H Tiebreakers are going to be important.
Looking at some schedules, Monmouth could very well take a top 4 seed- 1

Big sky point to CT, who’s foul shooting down the stretch was sparkling. And did you notice he hit a shot tonight facing the basket!!
So, I was very critical of Sulaiman in the chat room in the first half, but wow, he really stepped it up on D, and even on O, in the 2nd half.
Kudos to Tarke who played under control and dished out 5 assists and what can you say about Lowery’s D?
I thought we were going to get blown out in the 1st half, but our D turned the game around in the 2nd half. And the FT was phenomenal. Actually, beyond phenomenal. Can we bottle it? What is this now, 18 straight home wins? I guess the irony is it’ll probably now be tougher than ever to get teams to come play us at home.
The size of the crowd was disappointing, but it was engaged right from the beginning of the game & was louder than larger crowds we’ve had.
I don’t know what’s going to happen in the conference tournament, but I’m going to enjoy this for now. This may be sacrilege, but , given what he’s got to work with, Skerry may be doing his best coaching job since he’s been here. The only real down note about tonight is Tejada is now officially in a funk, having scored I think a total of 8 points in the last three games.
On to the Island of Long.
Agree. Being a Pat basher, I give him credit. I think he’s done a fantastic job the last 4 weeks. After going 6-6 in OOC and losing that first league game, to sit 13-8 and 7-2 is pretty impressive. The parts seem to fit better this year and the freshmen have been big. Can contribute atleast 3 wins due to the late play of Williamson and Tejada in caa play.
We have a yearly run like this and it typically comes to a screeching halt. Just the pessimist in me where I’m waiting for Lucy to pull the football away from us. Will and have enjoyed this run though.
It is strange (not really!) how much better we play when Charles is not bringing the ball up. Our better play coincided with him playing in the actual post. First half last night he brought it up atleast 4 times which led to nothing. He’s a good passes out of the post. Get it to him there!crowd was bad but what do you expect when you don’t market it or give away free tickets?
Long Island will be tough tomorrow. That’s also a very hot team up there with 3 guards who can absolutely do everything. Gonna need the defense from lowery tarke May and Suliman in that one

Hell of a second half by Dylan and Suliman to save us from a lackluster effort the first 25 minutes. Bench came to play tonight.
Big one on Saturday -
Always a tough out for us no matter their record.
they are probably the only team in the league with a winning record at secu or whatever it’s called now (6-5). 10-17 against the cold dogs since pat took over -

But; if you tell me Tark, May, and Dwill keep progressing (front court aside , which I love ) ….. LFG; who should we be scared of ? Make / miss tournament/ league / game - but I KNOW 💯 we will defend and rebound . We getting sneaky good! Even you gotta (albeit half) smile ! Now FUKK NORTHEASTERN
Hell freezing over. Guard play is important. Tarke and Williamson are much better, and thus we are better, when they drive. I, and hopefully everyone else, don’t want to see tarke shoot flat footed threes for 25 feet with 18 left on the shot clock. Williamson has actually shot better than his numbers indicate since he’s had atleast 15-20 threes that were heaves with the shot clock winding down.

It is especially impressive since we have faced four of the best 3-pt shooting teams in conference play so far, and we are No. 2 on that list. We have the best differential in 3-pt pct (.368) to 3-pt pct against (.246) in conference play at +.122.
Another way to translate it is we have scored 180 points in conference play off three-points and our opponents have scored 105, which puts us at +75. I am still working on the full conference breakdown, but I would have never predicted what a huge advantage this would be for us.
Attached is our opponent's game-by-game 3pt FG pct. breakdown.Maybe it’s because our rims are uneven?! I joke, sort of.
it is random-ish. We hedge and over rotate a lot. That can lead to some open threes. This is a stat I would expect to get closer to average as play goes on -

After further review it does look like Harbaugh has won a Super Bowl

Like Charleston last year (and this) the sum of our whole is greater than the parts. But it’s a heck of a lot easier winning 3 games in 3 days with a guy who can give up 20+ those nights

You may view this as negative rather than realistic....but as Ravens fan currently know......winning in the regular season is nice and enjoyable, but you are judged by what you do in the post season. If this team maintains and wins the championship, then there is something worthwhile to celebrate. All you have to do is read about a player going from MVP on a Saturday to (according to Stephen A. Smith) a choke artist in 24 hours.
Just the way sports works.
+1.
Went from being bad to winning a few games to winning seasons then to 20+ wins to being top 3 seeds but at the end there’s nothing to show for when talking about the ultimate goal -

I get that but we have some ugly losses both in and ooc. So when you’re not ranked early on, it’s not as easy to move up. It’s really meaningless. Just need to keep winning. Important three game stretch coming up

Yup!
2 minutes ago, Bay Area Tiger said:Drexel hadn’t lost a game until last week.
He had UNC Wilmington previously before them. The man is a guru and just doesn’t cut and paste.
No he literally does that. Also these “Bracketologists” are funny. They claim to be 95% or whatever. But out of the 68 teams, 32 are AQs leaving 36. Another half of those are top 25 teams so leaving at most 12-16 spots in actual consideration

22 minutes ago, Bay Area Tiger said:Drexel was in it last week. We in essence should have bumped them this week when Lunardi updates it.
No. Drexel has a better record. Lunardi goes off whose first in standings

Gritty win. Two awful call on charles and awful play from tarke and still a win on the road. The defense recently has been very good.

Hofstra preview

Yes it’s no longer guaranteed. We all (well most of us) know what the ultimate goal is but finishing top 4 is crucial.
it’s homecoming tomorrow at Hofstra and they are giving away Speedy jerseys to 500 students, 25 buck tickets with food and drinks for alumni, and a chance to win a car. That with it being on tv should be their best crowd of the year
