Good win, some will call it ugly.  But to get contributions from others when Betrand struggled and Fobbs had a slow first half--3 points--yet they still managed a comfortable margin most of the way.

I think Burke is great not only for UNCW but for the league.  He is possibly the most animated and positive coach I've seen on the sideline in a long time.  We got to speak to the UNCW AD for a few minutes before the game, and he seems to be a big fan of what he's done so far and the changes he's made in the practice routines and culture.  I hope they keep him.

The early onslaught of threes was unexpected but played a huge role in allowing them to keep the energy up on defense as well.   Really like the season Sanders is turning in, he can hold his own underneath with just about anyone in the league.  And has been mentioned the play of both Gibson and Timberlake if it can continue on the upside, could really spell some good things over the next few years.

I hope they don't! He seems like a real good players coach. Recruiting for him is a ?  But the players have responded to him 2-2 against the upper teams, is a good sign for him.

Bench played well yesterday  Dottin with 7 points on 2 threes! and 3 assists 0 turnovers in 11 minutes is good.  His defense will be needed tomorrow

Spiro lives and dies for Towson and is as solid a broadcaster as there is. Do we want an objective person doing the games? I don’t. The W&M play by play guy kept referring to the Tribe as “we”. Now that’s blatant homerism but I guess to each his own.

That's true. Hofstra has some young kids who are bad too. Would be nice to have an ex-player on the call with him. Maybe JD for games he isnt doing the "Flo Feed"?

I'm just happy we could beat the "hottest team in the CAA" with our "once in a blue moon shooting, pulling 3's out of our ass," along with "help from the refs all game" 😁

Happy for Spiro..  he calls a great game and his snide remarks about officials from game to game are so enjoyable.

That makes one of us. Would like to have a color guy now that Vince doesn't do it. Anything to drown out the blatant homerism. Yes, everyone kill me for it. Also wasn't/not a fan of Tom Judge when he did/fill ins for PA. Sorry everyone!

He was bitter before his kid got to Drexel. You know how cool it must have been for everyone on that court to get a nice ovation? But I don't want to dwell on Kurk not being there. I was glad to see Jim Meil come. I'm sure he has mixed emotions as a long-time assistant, who was let go twice and never really got a chance to be the head coach.

At the end of the day he went to school here and its a shame some don't have pride in their alma mater and program. It's nice seeing the recent guys come back to games..

We are trying to run a D1 program, not a charity.

  4. This one was U_G_L_Y!  Glad they came out with the win, showed resolve. But you could tell in warmups that they weren't into this game and it showed.  UNCW plays hard for their new coach (who seems like an awesome guy and the ultimate players coach). Loved how they had a set play to start the game, screen for the alley oop.

Felt like we played hard in stretches and not in others. Against a good team, this is a bad recipe. Defense needs to improve and they need to through the kitchen sink at Riller tomorrow. FT shooting and defense were big let downs. Glad we crashed the boards against a smaller team. Can someone explain why we have Fobbs on the opposite side on the press?? Whenever he breaks it he going right and cant finish right...?

Crowd was pretty big and semi into it. Kudos to marketing.  Both gates were open and all 3 concession stands.

BIG game tomorrow. Need everyone to come out!

Early line is Towson -11.  I think it's been a while since we were a double-digit favorite.

    11 is a hefty number..

Also, tonite is the 25th anniversary of the Louisville upset.  While a win tonite wouldn’t be an upset nor a reason to storm the court, it would be great if we had a decent, loud crowd like that nite.

Hopefully. Looking at the tickets available.. looks like paying crowd will be sparse.. Saturdays looks much better. Hopefully the students show up and we don't lay an egg!

Hmm...  I would like to think I have a pretty good idea as to why they are doing this.  (I am assuming that they are getting a couple of bucks out of the deal.)  However as a person who was in the sports ticketing business for over 20 years the first thing that comes to my mind is "Towson has trouble selling their own tickets.  What makes them think that a deal with a secondary ticket market is a good thing? Especially with a company that no one has heard of?"  This is the Flosports of ticketing.  Good if it is a money grab for the Athletic Department but I would not be touting this deal unless they are going to assist the Ticket Office with ticketing as a whole.

I think all caa teams are doing this. Would help with tourney tickets because people who lose and want to ditch theirs will have a market this year because the stadium is so small

Not accepting losing and being delusional about the team are two completely different things.  The coach they just canned took over a team that was 29-6 the prior season.  In his first season they were 11-21 and 7-11 in the CAA.  His second season they were 10-23 and 5-13 in the CAA.  Third season they were 5-15 and 0-7 in CAA at the time of dismissal.

In each of his first three seasons they were getting worse and the icing on the cake was that their PAC-12 transfer was a dud and their ROY quit the team to go pro.  No coach is surviving that kind of production.

The team he took over was 29-6 but lost 6 of their top 8 players...  Needed time to get his players/system in

  8. Uncw has winning pedigree and doesn’t accept losing as seen with the kid season firing. Neither do their fans.  They could be 3-0 since the change against the same 3 that spanked us. Won two by 2 and lost by 2. They will be a tough out Thursday

I did get a text this morning.  They are giving T-shirts to the first 500 students Thursday and T-shirts to the first 500 fans on Saturday.  Hey it's a start!  Towerlight should be pumping these games up too.

Good to hear.  I got an email today asking me to renew my hoops season tickets for the 2019-20 season...🤣  Went out by mistake but still got a chuckle out of it.

Only so much you can do with concessions. They opened three in the last game and maybe they can add one more worker, but if hundreds of people come out for halftime and you have three stands open, not much can be done. Now maybe selling something through the stands (people would probably trip) or sell something like drinks outside of the stands in a portable stand or something might help a little.

People can also do better job on just going at a tv time out.. but a beverage cart/stand would help

W&M had 1100 students at the game today. They also had a nice promotion, where their HC pledged a donation of $5 per student to cancer research.

Now, with the momentum we’ve got, and our students back on campus (I believe spring semester starts this Monday) why can’t we get 500 students on Thursday night? Frankly, I’d like to see 1,000 students, but I’d settle for 500. If we can’t get a big turnout Thursday (and Saturday, assuming we win Thursday) I for one will be sorely disappointed

Don’t assume. But let’s get students and current Athletes out.  Some promo should get them out.  Books for a semester for the loudest row.  Anything

Winning cures all ills.  This isn’t rocket science or brain surgery; we’re hitting shots during this winning streak; we weren’t hitting shots during the losing streak.

I’m coming around to thinking we’re capable of beating all 3 of the teams that we lost to to start the conference season.  Will we? Time will tell.  Meanwhile, I’m going to enjoy the 6-game winning streak and hope for a big crowd Thursday when we go for 7 in a row.

Will there be criticism on here next time  we lose? Probably.  Dizzying highs and depressing lows-such is the fate of the passionate fan. Me, I’m more than happy to eat crow.  For now, let’s enjoy the ride.

It does.  Tim you got the student athletes out during break to the one game. Can you do it for the next two? Can you get the regular Students too?!

Women go for their sixth straight win on Sunday when they face Hofstra at home at 2pm. I don't know if there has been a time in our history where both the men's and women's teams have won six straight at the same time in conference play (in D1). And yes, we've now won five straight games by 8 more points for the first time in school history in MBB.

Is that all time? D2 <also?

Nobody doubts that, but all three games were against really good teams. And I don't think most other message boards calls people to wear bags to games unless their teams are winless, but that's fine. They deserved most of the criticism, but I think some people go overboard and yes, now they deserve credit where credit is due. Not me for not calling for everybody's job, but the team.

Nothing wrong, in year what 10? With an experienced team to expect to not get blown out whistle to whistle at home and blow a 12 point second half lead at home to conference foes.

They were solid teams. This isn’t final 4 vcu or 25-9 Drexel or odu with Gerald Lee and Kent bazemore.

I’ll give them all the credit. And it’s on them to now deal with the success and not let it effect them negatively

guilty...meant to say the backcrt is young . i've been high on Gibson, AB...and yeah,  i still think T'Lake will get there .     but sure- not shocked to see YOU jumped on that ! lol .  "SkerryBall" clean the backboards" AGAIN....    lets get 7 !!!!!

That fact that they aren’t “young” meaning their better players and not playing well to start was a reason of concern from us Debbie downers.

We really aren’t cleaning the glass like in the past but making shots allows us to not have to gather so many misses!
