I'm in the same boat, 88. I've been watching games since we played them in Burdick Hall, so I know all about the highs (here and there) and lows (too many to count) of the program. Yes, we're better off than during the Kennedy years, but not by much (the league is weaker without VCU, GMU and OD, so we might actually be at about the same level once that's factored in). I will continue to pay attention, but with less and less interest unless some miraculous transformation takes place. That's sad, because men's b-ball is already fan-starved.

    Don’t your dare use facts.

  2. Give it time. We will be good next year or something. Pats a great coach just dealt a bad hand this year with Howard getting kicked off the team and Solomon injured. We played a tough ooc but it’s all about caa play. Hats off to Ne our guys weren’t prepared and that’s on that staff.

All joking aside, staring down a 0-3 start

Any idea if Murphy is playing for them tomorrow? I believe our chances of winning tomorrow go up substantially if he’s out of the lineup. He’s missed some games with an injury.

No clue. Hasn’t played in a month. Dudes a thorn in our side. If he does will he be 100%? They brought back occeaus last year against us after missing time and was terrible and probably cost them the game

  4. More ideas.

Start promoting the CAA tournament. The CAA promo video at the holiday hoop-fest was nice and well done. Put it on our video board. It is in our backyard and there's no reason to not get a decent crowd there. it is a day trip for most alum. Get the DC alumni chapter involved in this.

Tickets for the tournament. Start advertising and selling them at the upcoming games.  Notify season ticket holders where the team hotel will be and offer room blocks for TAF members and ticket holders. Can we run a shuttle from the hotel to the arena?
For the few students who do come to multiple games, can we get the top 50-75 who come to home games (should be easy to track with swiping of the ID?), and get them a free shuttle bus down to the tourney and game tickets?? Reward the ones who show up!  Also, please offer a bus to games for every student. A trip to DC and back cannot be that much money. Academy bus advertises at the games, can someone in athletics reach out to them to get a trip donated??

  5. The Huskies have had some stinkers lately, but are still ridiculously efficient on the offensive end and control the tempo as well as anyone, which leads to them playing defense less and thus being good defensively. Looks like they have had a few injuries recently and have been playing a 7 guard and 1 forward rotation (granted most of their guards are listed between 6'3-6'6). Murphy, whose killed us in the past, and their transfer big have been hurt for a bit, but I don't know for how long...

They are built a lot like the Ravens, almost unbeatable with a lead and like to play from ahead, but not built to come from behind a big deficit.

Toews killed us last year as I recall. However, his playing time this year was probably reduced, as UNCW brought in a U of Florida transfer PG & a freshman we offered named Shykeim Phillips, who is averaging about 9ppg, & had 6 assists last Saturday vs Vanderbilt

Also let it be known that their fan base is calling for his firing, less than 3 years in.  So it’s not just us here where change is wanted due to underachieving results

6-6 before league play starts.  i assume this is the best pre-conf schedule they have had in years....fair to say?  ( i know they were like 8-2'ish a few years ago, but cant imagine they were playin teams like this year).  i had'm at 5-7 when i looked at the schedule to start the year (GW).

Love Sanders being a beast and attacking the rim, Betrand's game, Tunstall on the glass, and the fact we have multiple VERY good free throw shooters (that will win you an xtra game or 3 !) . But most exciting developments as i watched the "preseason" wrap-up:  (1) Timberlake breaking out a bit v Tulane.  mins + experience = confidence.  he's got the skillz to average double figures, and if he's making the 3ball - he's gonna be more than solid.  (loved the fast break pull-up 15ft'er).  (2) Gibson getting major mins, in crunchtime, early in the season v good teams- has to help down the road (this season and beyond).  I didn't see Four MacGlynn play, but Gibson's range seems as legit.  Love these two guys playing together offensively, and Dottin's defense.  (3) Fobbs > Jame Harden !!!!!   As far as i'm concerned, any shot he takes is a good one.  He plays smooth, and is rarely sped-up by the other team; so when he gets his shoulders squared; he should fire 10times outta 10!    Loved the zone mixed-in; and an overtime win (mental toughness!).  When handed lemons, i have a tendency to make vodka lemonade; but i'm excited for CAA play.  Doesn't seem to be an unbeatable / top team , and then "the rest".  2020 = WhyNot the Tigers?

    Happy Holidays All

Wow. Can you get everyone here some of those drinks??

Every game someone shows something one game than nothing the next. Gibson is a freshman but not anywhere close to 4s shooting ability. This coming from the biggest 4 hater. He couldn’t do anything else besides 3s and Ft. Gibson gives effort on D

fobbs harden? Really?! Haha. Every shot he takes is a good one because there really isn’t another double figure scorer on this team

sanders is the Towson hoops program in a nutshell.

Caa is wide open. But every game will be close and that favors everyone except us

  8. Liberty was meh. Solid team but wasn’t to impressed. It was there for us to win by 4 points in 12 minutes won’t do it.

Got bullied by their bigs all night and kept switching. Poor Gibson got switched onto the 280 pound kid a few times. No real adjustments by skerry not surprised though.

Gibson had a good game. No one else really  some very interesting calls by the refs tonight.

Hopefully we can salvage one tomorrow and end OOC 5-6

So tell me more about the venue. Parking? DId you go by subway? What was the seating like?

Parking isn’t bad a few close lots and one on the other side. Had a shuttle run back and forth and was easy and the people were nice.

Venue is nice but small. Dark lighting. No center hung scoreboard. Two side ones. Seats are close to action. Very pricy concessions. Bathrooms are small if there was a crowd it would be backed up.

Its in a bad neighborhood and there’s nothing around. No bar. Restaurants. Or hotel. But when I left there was a cop with lights on at EVERY corner

So I wonder which crew will be running this since this is truly a Flo Sports production. Not just the Towson Sports Network under the banner of Flo Sports.

By the way, looked at Akron and Tulane. Akron is very good and Ron Hunter has turned around Tulane by getting a bunch of transfers from big-time programs. I don't think any of these teams are unbeatable and we played the toughest schedule. But on paper, those teams might be better.

Liberty is legit. They beat Vanderbilt on the road. They are basically a poor man's Virginia. They run a very slow pace and have some good shooters. I think UVa has the slowest pace in the nation (always) and Liberty is the second-slowest.

So walking the ball up the court against them is probably not the wisest. Push the ball off every rebound. We know our halfcourt offense is well, at times, offensive. It would also be nice to think that Fobbs is going to go off for two games and that would be great. But Betrand, Sanders and Gray really need to step up. Personally, I'd start Gray with Sanders to give us more offense. More balance because DT is not a threat to score. Teams can double Sanders down low and leave him open. They can't really do that if Gray is in the game.

It might be a joint venture with TU and WM? Tribe play in Sundays games. UNCW also played here earlier in the year.

Yeah, we are definitely the weakest of the 4 teams.

We won't push it though. Not our style

This is exactly the problem with Towson Athletics.

When a, assistant professor, who self-proclaims to be active in the recruiting process, actually questions if winning really matters, it's tremendously revealing as to the vibe surrounding the program. Does the school really care? Should they really care?

For all of the hysteria that comes from this board and the 4-5 dozen people who actually post, the reality is that in the big picture, no one on campus, save for the players, their girlfriends and the coaches really cares about winning or losing.

Playing North Dakota State is nostalgic and perhaps significant in the FCS world, but that game is a likely Towson loss, as is the game the following week, cross-country, at San Diego State.  If the CAA puts a tough game in there on September 11 following the September 4 opener at Morgan State, this could be a really rough start to the 2021 season. Tigers need to go 7-1 in the CAA or likely will be at home again in the playoffs.  It's a name opponent, but none of the students who will be in school in 2021 will care about the 2013 National Championship rematch hype - to them, it's just another game against a FCS opponent.

And the chance that NDSU is going to bring thousands of fans to this game is remote.

Honest question... who is the head coach of Towson in 2021?

Yep.  Good points Boog.  "self proclaimed."!

2021 was going to be tough no matter who was on the schedule, because hopefully we have a new coach.  37-46 career record without West (not even counting FBS games). 2 winning seasons in the CAA without West. Never finished higher than 3rd... but yeah sure he's a "good coach"
