He should have been gone last year...except.......

??  I’m surprised he didn’t leave after last year, you could just see he was frustrated and wanted no part with the team or staff.  Had the same look and body language that the other quitters had

2 chances to win in regulation time. I was trying to think of when we’ve won a game at the buzzer during the Skerry era, other than N. Ireland.

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I think Gibson is already our 2nd best player. I don’t quite understand why he didn’t touch the ball on either of the last 2 possessions in regulation.

Disappointing game from Sanders. I hope it was attributable to being rusty. Tunstall is a pretty decent outside shooter. Too bad he missed the foul shot that would have put us up by 3 near the end of regulation. I’m curious to see what kind of team we have once Timberlake & Solomon U (who sat out tonight) are back.

I’m not sure we’re going to face a lot of teams in the CAA that are better than Kent State.

    Timberlake. Whose that?

  3. “I need to find a way to get my guys to win close games and we didn’t last year”. - Pat Skerry 11/5/19

This has been the case since he’s been here. Players have come and gone and we cannot win close games. It’s time for him to look in the mirror. I along with Everyone in my section cringe when he calls a time out to “draw up” a play. Garbage looks at the end of the game and nothing in OT.

Good news is this was still a winnable game with gray fobbs betrand and sanders all having bad games. Skerry ball doesn’t work well agains big physical teams. Couldn’t get many offensive rebounds on misses. Tons of our shots got blocked and altered.

Also those refs were pitiful. Ticky tack calls and so many fing reviews.AWFUL.  also there should not have been double technicals called. Should have been just one on which would have made the difference in the outcome

Up to -2.5.....money piling up on Towson.  Is sanders making his season debut tonight?  Kent is a good team.  Picked to finish 5th in a strong MAC conference

LOL.  Doubt him playing makes a difference in the line to Vegas.  It is intriguing though.. They won 22 games last year and 4 of their losses were to NCAA teams (Liberty, Louisville, Buffalo x2). They also start 5 seniors.

We just beat a team by 17 on the road, who had taken JMU to overtime, beat Villanova on the road, and we are nitpicking because we didn't win by more?? Really?? Half our starting secondary is injured, our best linebacker has been out since the first game, and our stud transfer D-lineman played like half a game before getting hurt.

Oh, and our 1st team all-American running back/kick returner hasn't played since the first conference game of the year.

There are two games left and this team is poised to make the playoffs.  For once can the players get some credit for winning??  Who cares how many you win by. Especially on the road.

Agreed, I know this has been mentioned but two back to back W's in elimination games. Credit where credit is due

Yep.  I'm extremely critical of the program, especially the coaches. But need to eat crow, they have played pretty well the last two weeks against, at the time, potential playoff teams. Kudos to them. 2 more wins and they make the playoffs where anything could happen.  But Tigerfan shouldn't be criticized for pointing out some of the sloppy mistakes that have occurred in those games.  Playing a semi clean game and not letting teams stay in/come back in games would make life much easier for everyone!

Why is UNH a lock? They are 5-4 this week if they lose to JMU. And then they play at Albany next week which has played everyone tough. Maine has played better recently too. No guarantee they win these games....

Top 10 ranking... only play 11 games 7 wins = they are in easily. It’s unh

I can’t read this Stony Brook team, they are a spitting image of us in some ways. They are a different team each week like us. This game is a who shows up type of matchup. Go Tigers!!!

That’s the caa this year. Besides 1 and 12. Everyone can and does beat and lose to anyone on any given week. Jmu and unh are the only locks to make it right now

They don’t have tailgating? Huh? Is that a new rule?

Uh yes. Pretty much they have extremely limited tailgating for select few donors and no real lots open for students and visiting fans.  The last 2 years I have gone up and was told there is nothing (ended up going to bar/restaurant up the road pregame), and other CAA, Delaware and JMU fans to name a few have the same gripes.

Villanova has Howie Long. They have a National title and much richer tradition. There’s no comparison. They also don’t draw great for football but they care much more about hoops.

Basketball is different. The student crowd for GW was awful. All the freebies they are giving out for a D3 game should have been for the opener.

Villanova also doesn't have tailgating and their stadium isn't great for a game. They are also on a game average outdrawing us by 1,100 this year, with Lehigh, Maine, and SB as their opponents.

I agree with the Villanova comparison except for 2 things. Why can't we get better in basketball. There are great players around us. Should we settle for middle of the pack Skerry forever?

Vilianova has about 9,000-10,000 students and we have 23,000 but we draw the same amount for football? The commuter excuse no longer exist with our 12,000 residential students.

Still believe our administration is not promoting sports enough for basketball and football. 1,500 students-2,500 students for Delaware and Homecoming ?

The "Major Sports" city excuse should not exist either.  Who was playing Tuesday night in Baltimore where we only drew 2000 and a handful of students?  The turtles in CP? sure but who is driving 1.5 hours in rush hour traffic to see Maryland holy cross.

Oct 12, a beautiful fall day, what was the excuse that day for only 4700 people for the Albany game?? Little turtles?  Played at noon in West Lafayette IN.  Navy?  Played at 7:30 in Tulsa, OK.  Orioles in the playoffs? HA HA.  Ravens played the next day against the Bengals.    Also, Morgan also played that day, down the road against Del State and drew 4000+ more than we did. EMBARRASSING

We'll probably agree to disagree about the spending with Wadell and why those programs were sacrificed. I was told it was brought to Waddell and not originally his idea. Maybe he overspent on things but he also brought some strong ideas as well. He put a much greater emphasis on academic support, strength and conditioning, sports medicine and community outreach. But I'm not going to get back to that old topic on this thread because we're talking about trying to improve the marketing, tickets, etc.

Agree.  The academic support staff for athletes was non-existent before waddell came along, hence the low APR scores.  Facilities began to upgrade too. Also, the athletes aren't eating their pregame meals in the glenn dinning hall anymore, like they were my first few years of school, 08-10

I understand the idea of, as Caret said, NC State to North Carolina or Michigan State to Michigan. He brought in Waddell, flashy and full of ideas, but they were all costly and he went well over budget. SO, what was the net result...Baseball and Soccer were sacrificed to try and make up for the deficit Waddell incurred. Ultimately baseball was saved, but a successful soccer program was the sacrificial lamb. WE JUST DONT HAVE THE MONEY. Fundraising is not nearly what is required and we are still making up for Waddell overspending...and it is done through the hefty student fees that each student , including the ones who dont give a damn about athletics, at Towson is paying. WE NEED A SUCCESSFUL FUNDRAISER. Even if we get one, it will take several years until we see the benefits of that money. Paying 445,000 to a basketball coach who has won nothing and not getting donations is a very bad combination.

The vision should be to take a first step to financial common sense.  I know we live in a world of immediate gratification....as does Mike Waddell...and we can clearly see the result of that mentality...NOT GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!

If you think Towsons' student fees are high, check out the school down in Harrisonburg

0 assists 6 turnovers against a D2.  Good riddance.  All he did for us is miss free throws with the game on the line.

Hope NM and Houston miss the NCAA tournaments the next two years.  Good riddance to anyone who does not want to be here.

What is the vision of Towson Athletics? When Caret/Waddell were together, their vision was to make Towson 1a to College Park being the 1 in Maryland College Sports. Is that the current vision of this regime? Do we need a new regime? How do we separate from the other Division 1 schools in the area and not get lumped in.

How do we become Colorado State?

That is the million dollar question. I feel like most in the department and the fans are content with the status quo. A good year, some average, some bad. The AD does not exhume energy or passion into the programs. With that being said, I don't believe the University president does either.  Tim and Kim (haha) are not Mike Waddell and Loeschke.

Leonard was supposed to be someone who could drum up support and donations from alum, companies and advertisers. Has this happened?  It doesn't seem like it. He hired Dan Crowley (sorry older Tiger fans, who love him), who didn't have experience in the job he was hired for. The only qualification was that he played football here, was good, and played in the CFL. We need support and money from recent graduates, and no one who graduated Towson UNIVERSITY knows or cares who he is.

Why isn't the TAF calling/emailing past and current members for money and ideas? Why isn't the ticket office calling/emailing past and current ticket holders?? ( I had to contact them to renew my tickets that I've had since SECU opened and they still dropped the ball getting them out on time for the season!)  This is just bad business!

Sure we are strapped for money like any smaller university with programs that lose money.  We can't afford to fire coaches with contract years left like JMU, Delaware, WM, and Elon (who are our peers in our own conference) so we are already fighting and uphill battle.  If that is the case, why are we then handing out unwarranted and extremely long extensions to coaches that we currently have. No offense, Skerry and Rob are not/were not hot commodities were we should be worried about losing them to a bigger school, at a time where they haven't won a lot, or anything, and have not have had high consistency. Why so many years at a time?? Why after a 10-1 hoops start do you give him 8 years, in the middle of the season?!??! WHY?!   Richardson and Nadalean are coaches who have deserved and would need extensions, as I could see bigger programs offering them jobs with much higher salaries than they currently make.
