I mentioned this on another thread, but here it is again: Henderson, Delaware's dual-threat QB, has been out for a while, so we may see Kehoe again. He lit up our No. 25 last year, so I suspect that's who he'll go after again. Let's hope our coaches have some changes in mind to address that weakness.

He had all day to throw.  Just stood in the pocket and floated pass after pass to Invincible Jr. Playing 10-15 yards off WR's makes it nice an easy.

Yeah, it's a pretty rough picture in 1-AA when we're still ranked with what we've done in the past month.  All that means is that if we can win the last 4, there might be more hope at a berth than we think.

Meanwhile, I'm gonna see what I can do about getting the 'over' in our game on Saturday.

UNI has 2 of their 4 left against #5 and #7. If they lose both and go 7-5, they are in.

Furman has a non D1 and some tough road games left. If they go 2-2, they are in. They played 2 FBS teams and almost won both.

Jacksonville State will need to shit the bed to miss out (they are the Souths version of UNH)

Montana State has 2 rough games to end the season, could go 7-5

    Princeton/Dartmouth DNQ

A&T runs the table they are in (assuming Florida A&M does too) Only 1 can make the NCAA's

CCU would get in as auto bid or whoever from NEC (Duquesne and them play end of season for that right)

Souix are independent and still have Weber St next week. Only play 11 games...

As down as I am on this team/program, they are probably in if they win out. They would have knocked off 2-3 teams that are battling for that spot along the way.  We also need to root for Nova and JMU the next two weeks to smack around UNH. They only play 11 games and if a 6-5/7-4 UNH team gets in...  Well atleast theirs one thing we can all agree on here, is F UNH!

Even winning the next 4, not sure we would even be invited to the playoffs. Again, not sure but would be difficult..

4 gets them in, even without a signature win.  The FCS is awful and so watered down this year.  A 7-5 team with a decent resume probably gets in. There are ton of 5-3, 4-4 and 4-3's rolling around the top 25. 25% of teams make it so.

The way it works is that the regular season champions of the previous season get to host the CAA tournament for the current season. Thus, we already know that the tournament will be at Hofstra this year, regardless of where they finish. It'll even be at Hofstra if they don't qualify for the tournament (That actually happened a few years ago). It's kind of an odd system, I assume it is in place both to give incentive to the regular season title and to give the potential hosts some advanced planning time.

We currently have a 2-game lead in the standings with 6 matches left. If we can hold on to that lead, we will have home-court next year in the tournament.

    Good information. Thank you!

We're stuck with him for another year so only time will tell. This Delaware game at home is a crucial must win for the program. I hated that trick play call absolutely atrocious. I thought our guys fought hard but too many mistakes and penalties makes it's tough to beat a top caliber JMU team.

Crucial for what? This team ain’t winning 4 in a row.

  6. So McDonnell is the longest tenured coach in the caa, and he is/was out on leave this year. Then you have rob... most coaches either win and take a job elsewhere or get canned for being ineffective. Not at Towson though!

I know there will be excuses and other shit by some on here but besides the Maine game this year, we constantly get outplayed in the second halves. Duquesne. Delaware Albany. Nova games all stick out. Other teams are coached well and make adjustments. We don’t.

Also for an “offensive genius” and having a very solid dual threat qb, the offense is underachieving and play calling extremely questionable.

Another year missing the playoffs and scratching and clawing to get to a 500 finish. Ho Hum the Ambrose way

Ambrose after the game on Towson Sports Network:

"I thought we played hard but made too many mistakes against a very good football. Thought we built on something. Missed scoring opportunities to make it a closer game. If we build on what we did on practice, we can be playing for awhile. Didn't like how we ended but like how we're building it."

He’s been here a decade and we are still in the middle/ bottom of the caa

I understand JMU is #2 but they are a beatable team...….but Towson always finds a way to shoot themselves in the foot, get too "cute" with it's play calling or have its defense disappear at key times.  Time for new leadership for this program.

How do you question rob? He is a 500 career coach who had a once in the life time transfer fall into his lap.

I was looking at some team stats posted over on the JMU board that aren't really surprising, but are interesting.

JMU has the #12 total offense (464.8 ypg) and the #6 scoring offense (40.4 ppg) going against our #64 total defense (396.3 ypg) and #47 scoring defense (26 ppg). DiNucci is a very efficient passer and has the potential to carve us up. Their run game could also dominate us. If can somehow manage to force mistakes and generate turnovers as we have done this season (#4 TO margin, +9), we could keep things competitive.

On the other side, JMU has an elite, #1 ranked rushing defense (68.3 ypg, 4 TDs) so I imagine they'll be daring Flacco and company to beat them through the air. JMU's pass D isn't their strength, but consider that the forecast is calling for rain and it could be a really tough game for our offense.

Rain would not be our friend. We already saw what happened under those conditions last year, not good.  Their run defense is crazy good. WVU ran 24 times for 34 yards with a long of 5.  Do the Sun Dance on Saturday morning.

The game will be on MASN2 take that FloSports!

Hopefully Tommy Touchdown will be able to put the team on his back and pull off a win for the ages

Let’s just hope they don’t embarrass themselves as bad as they did last year

Lets get pumped this week guys!! We get the chance to beat JMU on their Homecoming! We gotta end their win streak and send them packin. I'll be getting hype all week for this game. I was hoping to start a thread to see what you all think of this matchup. Is there anything we need to be worried about? Or are there any injuries that will scare us?

    #UnitedWeRoar

So Dukefan59, how long do you think Cignetti stays in Harrisonburg for? What are your feelings on your gray uniforms? Is the outpost running any good sales for homecoming this week? And most importantly when are you moving up to the sun belt?!

Those numbers ain’t right. We fly to every game except UD, JMU and Richmond.  We flew to Maine.  Rob was referring to the fans that were driving to Maine in his weekly teleconference that week.  Maine message board was thinking he was talking about the team... wrong.  Understand, we have a full summer session (I know that others in our conf don’t) with walkons attending.  I know Madison and UD move numbers around in their budget and UR ,WM and VU have higher tuition costs.  My understanding is that we are 3rd in “real FB dollars “ and between $29-30million in overall budget.  Overall we are 3rd in AD budgets in the CAA.

Woof it that’s true, what a waste. Elon SB Albany, And Nova are all definitely close enough to drive. Hoops does so I assume the Olympic sports do too.

So you’re saying we spend more but still don’t have results?!

JMU pays about 1.5 mill for football coaches. But 8500 season tickets at 150 a pop covers a decent chunk of that

    https://towsontigers.com/news/2019/10/21/womens-volleyball-wednesdays-volleyball-match-cancelled.aspx

Team is now 18-2, 8-0 in league play with a 12 match win streak and just mutually agreed to cancel match with Coppin who just so happens to be winless against Towson in 11 tries.  I believe the first half of league play just finished up.  Let's keep it up and get stronger as the season moves along.

They are playing strong! But it all comes down to the tournament.  To bad it isn't hosted by the team with the best record.

According to 2018 records, Towson is 9th in the CAA in football budget.  The only three schools below Towson are Albany, Rhode Island and Elon.

Since 2009 when Rob Ambrose took over as head coach, Towson has finished above 9th 6 times, below 9th 3 times and 9th once.  6-3-1.

You can look at overall budgets like in professional sports.  Towson under Rob Ambrose is like the Oakland A's in baseball.  They overachieve compared to the money they have to spend.

You can look at it two ways, good and bad:  UNH- Winner/draw well, JMU- Winner and crazed fan-base, large stadium(Highest student fees in the nation((pretty sure)), Delaware- Old time winner, lots of old alums, big stadium, Nova- wealthy alumni base, hoops $$, WM-wealthy alumni base, Richmond- Wealthy alumni base.

FBS do you have the numbers? It would be interesting to see.  We have a huge benefit of not having to spend as much on travel as we are centrally located and near an int'l airport. Besides the 3 Northern schools, we can easily busy everywhere. I also heard we bused to Maine this year.. any truth to that??
