Yep, you're just proving my point.  2014 there has been 1 at large qualifier in the MEAC/SWAC.  MEAC, SWAC, Pioneer and NEC are not seeing any at larges anymore/ever, which again shrinks the pool.  There's realistically only a handful of conferences that compete for playoff spots in the FCS; Big Sky, CAA, MVFC, SoCon, OVC, Southland and Patriot.  Facts are Facts.

You're living in a dream world if you think they would. Let me guess you think the MAC and Sunbelt teams have a chance for the FBS playoffs if a team runs the table?

There are 126 FCS schools.  Not sure where you get your information

    Good Morning Rob!

126 - 10 for the SWAC and 11 for the MEAC who send their conference champs to the Celebration Bowl, - 8 for Ivies who also do not participate, - 2 programs ineligible due to transitioning to FCS level= 95. So damn sorry its actually even a higher %.

You can also take out another 9 because no Pioneer school will make it as an at large.

Not sure where you get your information.

You can't blame Tim. It's part of the contract. Make the playoffs-get an extension. He's not eating all that money so 2012STOP. If he doesn't make the playoffs this year and certainly next, he'll have a decision to make (assuming he's still around).

He signed an extension in 2014 until 2020. Then got the one-year extension last year, which means I believe, the contract ends in 2021. No way are they paying for 2020 and 2021. But you can't bring a lame-duck coach for one year. That means if he doesn't make the playoffs this year or next, I think it's over. I doubt they pay nearly a million for two years. Then the next coach is going to get more money and they are looking to build more of a football-type of facility (hopefully) like Villanova and others.

It’s part of the contact. Holy f’ing shit who is his agent?!?  1 year added every time he makes the playoffs?!! 24 of 96 teams make the playoffs. That’s over 25%. WOW. How the hell are we ever going to get rid of his sorry ass.

With all the defections from the conference after last season, you might as well throw darts at a dartboard, in terms of preseason rankings.

My guess, and it’s strictly a guess, is we finish around 6th.  Truthfully, it all comes down to the conference tournament anyway.

It really can be anyone's league, just not Elon.  I have pretty big expectations for this year, even if others might not. 4 Seniors, almost all of the points and rebounds returning...  Again, its gonna be so bunched up between 9-9 and 13-5 that every close game really matters, which scares me. But it does all come down to March.

There are lies, damn lies & statistics.  Point is, he’s a .500 coach, who’s had 5 losing seasons out of 10 (may or may not be 6 out of 11 by end of November). He’s only made playoffs 3X & has only won a playoff game in one of those 3 appearances, and in the other two appearances he lost at home to teams from the Patriot League & Pioneer League (I think that’s Duquesne’s conference).

NEC, not a ton better but they are semi-scholarship level. Pioneer is not.  So Duquesne had 45 when they embarrassed us in the playoffs. Full FCS like Towson have 63. FBS 85. So it was similar to an FBS losing to an FCS team.  Feel better yet?!?  Crickets from some on here is telling

  6. We will probably go 3-3 the rest of the way. Alumni on here get super excited, and defensive of Rob and say "he had lots of injuries, just wait until next year." We go 4-7, the same alums say "he had lots of injuries, h'es a good guy and went to school here. just wait until next year, who can we get that is better?."  Sneak into playoffs and "Extension Tim" gives out another undeserving one.  Rinse, wash and repeat.

Another fun stat, Albany's last road win came on Sept 9, 2017 also in Baltimore against Morgan State. Their last CAA road win? Nov. 12, 2016. Their all-time road CAA record going into this past week was 5-21.  5-21!  Oh, the 38 points scored was the most by an Albany team on the road since 2011.

If the buyout wasn't so much, I would pray that there isn't anyone on here saying/thinking that the coach should keep his job.

By my count, he’s 62-62 (including playoffs) in his tenure, which began in 2009. No playoffs W’s since 2013 season. In fact, all his playoff W’s (3) were that season. Has made the playoffs 3 out of 11 seasons (I’m counting this season as not making the playoffs. That could change, but I doubt it).

Yes, I know he took over a program that was at the bottom, so you needn’t remind me of that.

Yes 62-62 but the 1-11 against FBS teams shouldn't be held against him.  29-10 with a certain RB and 32-40 without is startling

Attendance Saturday, or lack thereof, was shocking. No O’s, Ravens, Terps or Navy games competing with us, and a nice weather day with us ranked #9 (even though that, in retrospect was vastly inflated) in the country.

Student attendance was sparse. There was, or is, a school of thought that there will be a correlation between the increase in students living on campus and student attendance. I’ve never subscribed to this theory. I don’t know if it’s poor marketing or just plain old apathy (probably a combo of the two) but I don’t think student attendance will ever be consistently strong.

As for paying customers, you would think that in a fairly large metro area, where you can’t swing a stick without hitting a TU alum, and with no real competition for the hearts & minds of local college football fans, that attendance would be better. You would think that, and you’d be wrong.

FBS is a pipe dream, which is fine as far as I’m concerned. Is anything more irrelevant in FBS football than the UMass or ODU’s of the world? I just hope we stay in FCS & get a new coach to start the 2022 season. Of course, that would  mean not making the playoffs this season or the next two, since it appears he automatically gets a one year extension for making the playoffs

That's all part of the problem. The "big market" excuse of having pro-teams is just that an EXCUSE. We aren't trying to get 25K people every Saturday, but 4,500 is a joke (Albany had 100-200).

You mention the Ravens, a ticket is say $75 bucks a person, parking $20, a hot dog/soda $10 another $7 for a beer. So a family of 4 with each having a hot dog and soda, and parents a beer each is ~$375 a game.  You can get the same at Towson for ~$100. The product is obviously different, but one is a much more family friendly environment and more affordable for the average family.

At this point, the coaching staff, marketing, promotion, gameday items, seem to have gotten stale. We constantly ask the same questions about fans support, students, etc. Money, winning, style of play, TV, what helps? Well it doesn't seem like any of that has any real affect. To me, energy is the key and why do you think we were more successful under Waddell??! Love him or hate him, he energized the athletic department, coaches, players and fans. The current regime doesn't do anything to get people engaged.  I have had hoops season tickets since graduation in spring of 2012, guess what happened this year. NOTHING, no one called me to renew them or anything. That is unacceptable!  We need all the butts in seats we can get, and to not call/email/mail ticket holders is RIDICULOUS.

Its the same thing over and over again. We hear the pitch from Rob every single year "this is the best looking team I've had. They haven't forgotten last year. This team is together and we are ready to surprise people, yadda, yadda, yadda," its just more of the same BS. He would make a great salesman,  football coach, not so much.

61-50 against FCS, 39-44 in the CAA and 3-3 in the Playoffs.

Delaware doesn’t have to compete with pro sports and FBS schools for fan support.

Both have good and bad points.

Delaware draws a majority of their fans from their alumni, who as the jokes go, (but very true) are old timers.  Its interesting to see how their programs do in the next decade or so. They have had extreme attendance decreases over the years.

Delaware isn't far from Philly and not like they are in the middle of nowhere like JMU, NDSU, Montana. And if TigerFan thinks our tailgating is bad for students... UDels campus/dorms are a good mile plus walk to the stadiums.

What pro sports are we competing with on Saturdays in the fall? Orioles? eh.  Navy and Maryland both played halfway across the country at different times this week and were not playing the week we played Nova.  This isn't like UAB trying to compete with Alabama and Auburn.

Rather see a change in head football coach and leadership to win games and increase attendance . The student tailgating policy is  still a mess and we need more parking lots to tailgate without buying a parking pass.

First part yes, second part no.  Student tailgates or not they do not show up. Saturday was a very nice mid October day and there were 4,800 people there. I pulled into the parking lot at 3:50 and there were still 40-50 spots in lot 14. I was shocked as I thought I'd be walking from the Glenn/Union garages.

There's a very good amount of lots to tailgate and park in around the stadium.  They open up 4 hours before (like most schools) and people still don't show. As an alum, who went to pretty much every football game while in school and a majority after graduation, and tailgated for both, the whining about tailgating is just f'ing annoying.

The school and football program aren't there to throw college kids an outdoor party 6 times a year.

  11. So in the last 11 games, Towson is 4-7 overall.  We will have gone at least 385 days without a home CAA win.

Take out a God awful NC Central team and we have out last 5 home games of...

    L Albany 38-21  Won turnover battle 2 to 1   Out-gained 511-280

    L Villanova 52-45 OT  Won turnover battle 3 to 1   Out-gained 574-470

    L Duquesne 31-10  Even turnover battle 1 to 1   Out-gained 436-357

    L JMU 38-17   Lost turnover battle 1 to 0    Out-gained 576-514

    L Maine 35-28   Lost turnover battle 2 to 1   Out-gained 408-367

    0-5  38.8 to 24.2/game   +1 Overall in T.O.    Out-gained 501 yards against to 397 yards/game

Getting punked at home like this in inexcusable

Disagree about Knight. Best big man, yes. Not a defensive stalwart. Riller is best player in the league. Pemberton will have a huge year with Wright-Foreman gone. Was a great player but ball-stopper. Desure Buie is also very good.

Agree to disagree. Riller is the best scorer though.  Again, Pemberton probably will have a huge year, but in the past when the moments got big, he came up small.

What other school let’s this crap go on?! Rob you were a great walk on wr for us in the 90s.  Cool man. Your kids can stay on scholly here and we will all buy you a beer after/ at football games. You seem like a great guy and good alum but the team has gotten away from you numerous times.

Your pink slip has been needed for years now. You can’t coach and keep digging this school deeper in the hole. 4500 and lost to Albany.  Lfmao   Leave take the high road

I appreciate it. We agree that the team stunk tonight. But you can never count out Rob. He's like the Undertaker. Just when you think he's dead, he rises up (lol).

I feel more confident if any Towson team is picked towards to bottom. That’s just me but we over and under achieve like non other.  We are bottom 5 program consistently but still give this coach extensions.  TIM STOP. it’s time for s change.  Rob got lucky enough with t west and Tom. He’s average at best.  Bottom 5 in caa isn’t good enough.l, Don’t listen to some of these d timers on here. #firerob #paperbags

Is this really college football?Saw a much better game with a dynamite crowd at a HS stadium Friday night. Towson looks like they're playing with ankle weights on in sand - except for #14 - God bless him.

On D, terrible angles to the ball, dline ticketed for loitering, lots of missed tackles everywhere, no ability to adjust to anything.

    On Offense...😶... what the...

Go back to to DIII Towson. You were fun to watch then and 4800 would be a great number again.

lol 4800. Fcs football where about 25% make the playoffs. We can’t consistently in the best conference where a Minimum of wins gets us in.
