It is irrelevant anyway as we beat the crap out of Maine or were they overrated?

Maine maybe overrated, losing some key players to injury and their head coach. But with that being said, they are still a Top 20 team and strangely enough may win the CAA due to their easier schedule.

Just trying to emphasize the positive when we win because I know what happens when we lose. It becomes a bitch-fest. I know that’s what this board is for.

I’m starting to believe in this team and that the changes we made on the coaching staff are beginning to show. I’m also not naive enough to think that a serious injury to Shane coupled with DeBerry being out wouldn’t be a huge blow to the team.

I mean, it's like that everywhere for all sports teams (maybe not NDSU). Delaware fans are bitching about getting blown out at home, a late fake FG, Rocco and bad attendance. There is nothing wrong with having higher expectations and being upset when there is a bad loss or under achievement.  There were a lot of positives in the game, and hopefully the momentum carries over to Saturday. But a debate/questioning on whether a valuable and electric but an injury prone player should be back returning all of the kicks is worth the conversation.

The injuries will definitely hurt, but if we can get through Saturday, we have a L at Florida then a bye and some of the "easier" games back to back before JMU, it should be ok.  I agree with the changes and positives on the defensive side of the ball.   The interceptions and passes defended have been a great change to what we have seen in the past 5+ years.

  3. Georgia Tech isn't Alabama or even say Indiana, but they are better than the dreadful UCONN team we beat in our championship trip year. Any win against an FBS team is good for the program and FCS as a group.  Will it mean we get a bump? Probably not because as Chris stated above, we aren't loved like, UNH, or JMU or Delaware or NDSU.

we could have come out of last night's game with no injuries and there still would be no buzz. I could sort of understand the pessimism. We're Towson fans, always waiting for the shoe to drop. But that was a hell of a win last night and unlike last season, when we started to wilt against teams like Maine, JMU and even Duquense in the heavy rain, we manned up. We controlled BOTH lines of scrimmage. I'm not sure I could say that since we had guys like Shaw, Desir, Farmer, Harris, Pike, D. Cheripko, CJ, etc.

Agreed. A road win, against a ranked team, is always good.  The fact that it was quite a distance and a beat down made it more impressive. Heard reports, that we bused up there. Any truth to that??

There are only 30 or so posters here that are on consistently so that is the reason for lack of buzz, along with the history of no one in the community/campus caring.  We have 18,000+ undergrads and 6,000 of them live on campus with thousands more in off campus apartments around campus. We are going to be playing a top 15 opponent, with a brand name (some students may be tricked into thinking of Nova in basketball terms/stature) Its going to be sunny and in the low 70's on Saturday, and all of the other football teams are either off or away, there is no reason that there shouldn't be 10,000 people there!

And I 100% stand behind what I said.  You have a dynamic playmaker who can take the ball to the house every time he touches the ball so why wouldn't you give him that opportunity while in all that space.  This injury could have happened just as easily on a 2-yard dive play given the way knees and ankles just buckle nowadays.  Look at the Florida QB who broke his leg/ankle last nite on a simple scramble that he got twisted around in.  Actually, don't watch it...not a pretty injury.  It sucks that Shane's out but let's not question the 'how'.

Didn’t get to watch the game. Was it on a punt or kick off?  Seems like this game was tough one physically.

I agree with both of you guys. He is dynamic and should be back there but he’s also smaller and been fragile throughout his career.

Its difficult to have him back just when you need him, close games/down. Also I feel like him being back there maybe put some fear into other teams and may try to angle/pooch kicks that would help us

  6. College games have gotten really really long. Sept is tough because it’s warm for early games but the 6 time isn’t good for students.  I know that most of them won’t stay regardless. But the giveaways help and can get better.

Besides shirts They should do a dollar Hot dog/soda game/half/quarter for the 3rd or 4th q even For the entire stadium that would be good.

should also do what the orioles do “kids under 12 are free with a paying adult”

  7. This one is going to be tough.  Maine's offense has been good so far and the passing game has had lots of big plays.  Their defense last week, against an injured, TO GA Southern team, gave up a few big ones on the ground of their own.  GA Southern did fumble 7 times, but only lost 1 of them.  Maine really shot themselves in the foot by fumbling on the 5 yard line and missing a short FG in that game.  Their kicker is 1-3 on FG's this year missing from 37 and 40.

Gotta be way better than we played Saturday night.  Can’t leave yards and points on the field as we did last year.  Simpson is going to need to get more carries and Tom has to take off when the open space is in front of him. I want to see our DL get up the field and create havoc in the  Black Bear backfield.

The offense needs to be on their A game Saturday.  Maines defense even without Stevens is good. Must win for us if we want to win the CAA, as they do not play JMU, Delaware or SBU this year.  However they have another low level FBS game with Liberty left

  9. Great student turnout and overall attendance. Student sections were completely full. They were quiet but it is what it is at this point. Nc central had a decent amount of fans for being a new small program 5+ hours away.

anyone have any feedback on the pregame things?

got to the gate 15 minutes before kickoff and the security line was very slow.  Need more people with wands or metal detectors. Having highlights on the video board in the second half was a nice touch. Student side also has a chick fil a (sort of) on it also.  Liked the bar stools and high tables on the home side near the auxiliary restrooms.  Athletics, double the amount up there! Nice view

Definitely a lot to work on before Maine and Nova. Snaps were bad but there was a backup center playing? Just didn’t look crispy on offense. Was very impressed with special teams (didn’t see O’Neil’s fg miss but it was a long one). Punting was good as was the lack of penalties. Aggressive secondary is something new for us!

Is Kobe young hurt? Or just hurried way down on the depth chart?

  10. I also like the new things that they are going to try and do to get the students and crowd more engaged. Hopefully (not likely) that they have been pushing these things as well as the game itself on campus since move in) Feels like its been "stale" the last couple of years, same giveaways, themes, games, etc.  Now if they could only get rid of the stupid ass purge horn on 3rd downs, and stop playing music that was in back when I was a freshman, that would be great!

Here is the facilities link. Agree that the fact you have to Google "Towson Athletics Faciilties" is odd.

    Thanks.  Yeah that's weird.

Also like the splash page they have for the opener tomorrow, but on the main page it has everything you need to know/links, except for one to purchase tickets!  I know its not hard to bypass that screen and go to the home page and find it. But for ones who are not familiar with the site, it's just bad marketing to not have a big link to purchase tickets!

Does anyone have an updated map of tailgate lots? Info on website seems old.

In the same vein, does anyone know what lots will be open for the homecoming tailgate? They moved the alumni festival to the CLA lawn ( which I think is a huge mistake) and my group wants to stay close to the stadium. I can’t find anything online about which lots will be open.

Come on athletic department.  Update and reformat your website.  Also its only showing that tickets are available in the visitors section on Saturday.. While we all would love for all of the other sections to be full, we know that isn't true...

Please support your argument with facts and statistics.  My research shows that The Citadel was tied with # 1 Alabama last November at halftime.  My research also shows that the Citadel offense had virtually the same yds per carry, number of plays and time of possession as they had against us on Saturday.  I’d say if they can run that offense against Alabama, their gonna be able to run it on anybody! BYW, they returned all but 1 player from last year on that offense.

    Lol
