  1. I laughed at both the original and response. Both are right and wrong.

Students don’t show up. But let’s be honest the caa is not what it used to be in years past and the games are pretty boring. I left more football games early this past year than 10 years prior combined. The football team is BORING and not well coached and trained.  But hey let’s have our first home game last week of September

total overhaul of football is needed. And to be fair Leonard should be held accountable for his passing extensions out like candy.

They could do so much more with football/tailgating and basketball experience that it is laughable. Who the heck is running marketing and promotions???

Can only think of 1 or 2 other schools that I'd LEAST like to see be the first 16 than that team.

That said, they took Virginia behind the woodshed and beat them so bad it would make the redheaded stepchild jealous.

agree. But they have (had) a coach and strategy conducive to winning in 2018

Again I’ll always ask this how did they get Lyles?

  3. NIT isn't irrelevant. But I didnt think it was pay for play?? Can anyone verify that?

The more games and practice time the better.

So your telling me that if Towson went 28-6 and won the CAA regular season crown and got upset in the tournament, that you wouldnt head to SECU for a possible 4-5 match-up?  What about if we got matched up with maryland?

The second best team in a mid major conference deserves to play in a postseason game more so than a 7-11 power 5 team in the ncaa

I get what you are saying but please explain to me the formula for making the Dance!?  Top 40 RPI and not in.

Easy, belong to a power 5/6 conference.  MTSU and St Marys were snubbed for two opposite arguments. So play good teams and lose tight games and have a good schedule, not in.  Play easier teams and win all of those games, also not in...

I know the NIT is big, and would love for Towson to eventually make that if they fall in the CAA tournament. But what about a Mid-Major NIT?  32 teams, same rules as before, regular season champ gets and auto bid and then the remainders at large.  ACC, American, Big East, Little Ten, Big 12, Pac-12, SEC, A10 excluded  and MAC, & MWC (if they get gonzaga they wont) if they want.

That way most of the better mid major conferences will have 2-3 teams playing in the postseason.  only thing stopping it is the obvious, $$$

I don't think the committee watched enough actual games this year because if they had, they could see that St. Mary's and USC were much better options than Syracuse is.  But instead, they relied on all of their fancy numbers and analytics.  I also wouldn't doubt that the FBI investigation had something to do with keeping both USC and Oklahoma State out, despite the committee chairman (Creighton AD, now I see how Creighton got an 8) saying that it never entered any discussions.

  6. Cohen isn’t going anywhere.  What school besides uconn will have an opening up there?

Hes not a spring chicken either.

Matheny will and should be let go

Grant is interesting. He’s young and from the area. From the Marshall coaching tree, which made his hiring at Charleston ironic to say the least..

TSU88 brings up Maura from UMBC -- 6 points, 5 assists, 2 TO this year vs. us, 9 points, 5 assists, 1 TO last year vs. us.  I'm like everyone else on this thread in this respect -- I look at UMBC getting to the championship game of their league and wondering how a team in a similar location to us can be in this position more often than we can.  Yes, CAA is stronger than the AEC and we've whacked UMBC 5 straight years but at some point, the maturity of the players as a single and the team as a whole has to improve so we can get there too.

AEC has a couple of good teams. Vermont and stony brook Albany and then some bad ones.

But they haven’t been in the final in 5-8 years? Not sure exactly but vt and Albany have dominated recently.

Odom seems like he’s a good coach and had a gift of lyles fall into his lap. Did we or any other caa teams check in on him when he was leaving vcu??

But it’s 2018, and umbc plays that style and can recruit players that fit the system. Our style is not what kids play or are used to in hs/aau. Need shooters and guards to win, just can’t chuck it up and try and rebound it every time

Got some dirt on them there, Columbo?  Are you a better investigator than the NCAA?  Let’s hear what you got.

We know where Keatts came from.. and was heavily involved in recruiting.

Grant has had some 50-50 players come into the program.. search Sam miller.

I've been watching this thread for 3 days and it's pretty sad.  Pat Skerry has been at Towson for 7 years and has 5 winning seasons.  Before Skerry Towson had 16 straight losing seasons.  That being said, I would say his staff now is not what the first staff was with guys like Johnson, Simpkins, and Murray - all had major recruiting chops and reputations with AAU coaches up and down the East Coast.  It all comes down to recruiting, you get the right guys, you win games, you don't and you don't.  May be time to shake up the staff and get some Dudes who can bring in the talent.

As for the other Tiger head coaches who have been fired of late, all were consistent losers.  Erricker, major underachiever and as was mentioned earlier, is successor came in and immediately won big.  Gottlieb, had one good season out of his last 10 = a fluke.  Paynter had 10 consecutive losing seasons. Ambrose has 4 straight losing seasons and would appear to be the most likely of the current coaches to be on the chopping block, but he has another 4 years left on his current deal so that's not happening.

Skerry contract extension this past December was a bit odd in that who really gets a contract extension in December? That being said, Skerry has a 100-percent graduation rate, and Towson had a perfect four-year score in the latest Academic Progress Rate numbers released last summer. The Tigers also earned recognition from the NCAA for scores in the top 10 percent of their sport. Coming off the Pat Kennedy years where he had 7 straight losing seasons and so poor an academic performing program that we were banned from the CAA Tournament in 2013, I'd say we are in a much better place now that at any time since Truax was the head coach and we were going to the NCAA Tournament.

No one is saying we Are worse off. But it’s time to take the next step and pat isn’t the one who will take us there

Kennedy was a lame duck coach last two years and couldn’t recruit. That’s on the school and ad for being to cheap and not cutting their losses

again, pat has done wonders with this team and the players. He is a nice and genuine guy. He has don’t well with the Graduations, moldering good guys and even tops in NCAA in community service, but it’s time to win. That’s the name of the game.  He has had time, money, resources and every advantage to win and hasn’t that’s the bottom line

Elsewhere in the caa, Keatts with Uncw and grant with c of c have won And their programs aren’t clean..

But he's the best X's and O's coach in the league! How can his team yak a 17-point 2nd half.

.  But how about the way NE decided to play the last 3 seconds?  They gave Chealey a free look with zero harassment and he nearly canned it to stay out of OT.  Just an all-out choke by NE.  Loved the emotion by Chealey and Grant and certainly can't help but feel jealous watching everyone there celebrate.

Hahaha 4 semi final trips and 3 champ appearances in 8 years. He is a hell of coach with way different recruiting standards

Giving a player a free look/the entire court with no pressure?  That sounds like  the secu skerry special

  11. We rarlerly agree but on this one we do. That was not a walk at all. Puscia was passive last 4 minutes of the game. But they have no other playmakers.

Crowd was large and loud for c of c and that probably had some effect on the officiating. Chealey alone took more ft than the entire ne team.

I think everyone agrees that playing D III teams is a losing proposition. It doesn’t count in RPI ratings, it provides no realistic measurement of how good our squad is, & no one comes to the games. Aside from that, they’re great!!!

Boosts the coaches W L record. If anything next season should be the one for d3 and cupcakes. Build confidence with a young rebuilding team

You’re preaching to the choir about the seemingly unimaginative marketing. However, it is interesting to note that the commuter schools (us, Hofstra, Drexel) are all at or near the bottom in attendance

Major maket. Major market with a crappy record.  And then us...

but (Towson fans philosophy especially on here) Hofstra has 6 POTY last 12 years and 0 NCAA. Wm has 4 tripe to Finals and nothing to show for it.  Build off that Leonard,Crowley and co!

The marketing geniuses should be required to jet to Phoenix and meet with the folks at Grand Canyon University.  They're in the WAC and they sell the damn place out for a number of home games.  Students show up an hour before the game and have been known to sway a recruit's decision.  Dan Majerle (former NBA star of the 90s) is their head coach.  They have been D1 for 5 years now and this is their first shot at getting into the Dance and they've got a pretty decent shot at it.  So how the heck does a no-name school in a big metropolitan area that's been D1 for such a short amount of time and has a 7200-seat arena that opened in 2011 average 6800+ fans?  Leonard and company should take a little field trip and get some pointers.

Also they are a for profit university. Amazing is it’s own right.

Skerrys style is boring and at times brutal to watch  I liked bullying teams a de years back when we weren’t supposed to be good  and it pissed the other teams off   But it’s time to evolve and change     A tj type Grinder and a McGlynn shooter with Zane and gorham? They could look good unfortunately even with a skerry special (multiples d2s or lower) we are looking at a 8-10 finish
