I’m talking about playing 4 straight years right out of high school without transferring in/out or redshirting
-
Agree about the 13-14 class, way more talented and extremely disappointing loss in the tournament.
Think they were nice players, but no alpha/leader like we had with benimon/damas and davis. You look at the 12-20 season after the 25 win season, out veteran presence was mcglynn.. enough said on that. I feel like with most of our past players, they didnt develop much under the coaching staff and we didnt play to their strengths. for example, pressing more often, getting into the open court, pushing the pace, and getting mike and eddie into the post more. Mike is a career 49% shooter from inside the arc, and had good games when we put him in the short corner early in games.
I see 4 years without a signature win, and way to many embarrassing losses/collapses; FDU x2, RMU, JMU x 2 this year, Pitt, BC.
For all the grief and headaches, eddie has had some game changing/saving blocks and mike has a handful of clutch game winners in their careers. I've been following the team since 2008-09 season and we have exactly 6, 4 year players out of HS that started and ended with us, Crossin, Rocky, TJ, Davis, and now Mike & Eddie, so I need to give them their due for that as well

Interesting dynamic with seeding up for grabs. Wish we had alittle more depth. Would be good to just rest starr and maybe Zane for this one. Could maybe help them reset and get refreshed tourney

Then you got BYU and their whole scam that’s been accepted... 23 and 24 year olds still playing.
Good points on the rest of the CAA... now I’m depressed Ha
And some of those aren’t even seniors! Love looking at their roster online and bio section has “married to _______” for 90% of their team. Ha. 2015 caa rookie of the year is thriving at byu and the wcc
sorry for that! But caa will be a war. Of my 15 all caa predictions 11 would be back. JWF Riller Brantley pemberton Knight puscica isabell Daly seibring cacok and Zane. Add in Delaware and Jmus class of good rookies. 11-12 wins may win the conference next year. Hopefully the teams have a good ooc schedule set up

My point is JG is a sophomore. He has arrived. 2 more seasons with him.
Not every guy comes into a program and plays right away. Bigs take longer to develop.
Sorry I didn’t get that vibe at all from Gorham. I see a guy who is used to winning and gets frustrated.
Skerry continues to recruit better talent... showing my age I know but you should have seen some of these guys that rolled into the Towson Center before our 1-31 season. At one point we had a Canadian player that was only known for dunking and never helped us.
McNeil and Prophete I hope come back next season and make some of us eat our words.
Enjoy the discussion.
but they were all difference makers/significant players/studs as freshmen and sophomores. Pearce is a soph btw.
I hope he doesnt transfer, but its the time when players do (after soph. season) a team losing/lost players, along with a steep rebuilding climb next year. not us but more of the remainder of the caa is going to be tougher than ever.
Important seniors leaving-- chealey, gustys, talley, morsell, austin williams, cohn... the league is loaded with soph and juniors
your a st marys fan? we need a pipeline like they have with every Aussie. would be nice to continue with the goretti trail we have had some success with davis and zane

Many don’t play much their freshman year and then it really starts to click halfway through their sophomore season. We have this player for two more seasons and I’m elated.
I have witnessed this first hand watching many bigs in the West Coast Conference Jock Landale with St Mary’s is a perfect example and same path as JG.
Am I saying he’s gonna be POY... no!
Just please give Bigs more patience please... How many mid major bigs are impact players in their first 2 seasons!!??
I think he’s gonna have 2 great seasons coming up
your previous post, I never said I wanted him gone, (mcneil YES) but thought he is showing signs of frustration and a player that wants to go elsewhere.
brantley, gustys, seibring, cacock, knight, pearce (guardish) and thats just current caa bigs.. but I understand the point you are getting at.

Yes, but seems unlikely at this point. Its pick your poison: get JWF, Pemberton & Gustys first round? or WM with C of C waiting. as a spectator, I prefer the 6 seed as it is the late game, so I can enjoy the 3 games beforehand

11 hours ago, TSU88 said:Like I’ve said before, ZM, Gorham, Sanders & Solomon (if he sees significant PT) has the makings of a good team next year. All we need is a PG.
Are we locked into 5th place? Doesn’t look like Elon can catch us, but we can’t catch Hofstra or W&M
believe it when I see it with sanders and solomon. but zane has to be tired and hit a wall. He didnt play much last year and was a 6th man in hs right? he is chucking up the most shots on the team and without morman, playing more minutes and guarding other teams better wings. occeus is a great defender for NE as well (how we allow him to have a career night offensively is beyond me)
we are not locked into 5th, 2 elon wins and towson loss we are 6 seed.
-
Oh and also clinched top 6. It’s obviously not what we wanted or expected but no team has ever won 4 in 4 before so there’s a small chance
-
That was bad. 34 points?! Ouch.
We got beat by a better team who had their role players play out of their mind. We were short handed and Zane was way off. Still hung tough. Justin had a great game
-
yes they would.
worst case scenario-- uncw 2-0, elon 2-1 (Loss to jmu) jmu 3-0 , towson 0-2, we fall to the 8 seed..
tiebreakers as I understand are head to head and then record vs best team, down the line
if there is a 3 way tie, it goes to head to head vs the other teams you are tied with. (3 way tie would be the worst for us as we are 1-5 ((YIKES)) against UNCW/ELON/JMU
-
we shall see, playing in Matthews is always tough and this is a good NU team that limits possessions.
Tonight we can clinch 6 with:
-Towson win OR
-Hofstra win @ JMU, and WM win vs UNCW OR
-WM win vs UNCW and C of C win vs Elon.
5-Seed with a Towson win and C of C win.Granted not sure how uncw is alive against as if we lose out and they win out we are both 8-10 and 1-1 against each other. The next tiebreaker would be record against best teams, which we are 1-1 vs c of c to their 0-2.

Looked up his bio. It seems like he is much newer to the sport but I really like that he will be 19 years old a month before fall semester begins. May have some more maturity and leadership behind him. For perspective mike is a true senior and just turned 21 this last August.

nice piece. seems like a good kid with the right mindset. but we shall see how much he plays and contributes next year...
-
Elon goes 2-1 with the loss to jmu. Jmu goes 3-0 and we go 0-2. We are in PIG. A Towson win or jmu L clinched a top 6’
-
Yesterday would have clinched a bye but we choked that away. 5-6 very likely but 7-8 also in play.
Posted on this the other day as well as my all CAA teams but posits got wiped out

6 hours ago, mat1992 said:It's not too late. But there are few options. He can't play Tunstall 35 minutes but he can play him 25-30 and why not start him? Play EK less minutes and start Gorham at the 4 with DT at the 5. As for McNeill, you never know what you're going to get from him. If you play him more over Starr, you risk a lot more turnovers. Even though Starr had a very bad Senior Night, he's normally not a turnover machine.
Yeah it’s to little to late. Sorry seniors needed to be called out way before that. Hopefully last night was McNeil’s senior night as well

6 hours ago, mat1992 said:I hate that kind of speculation and he lost his father last season so maybe that anger is being taken out on the floor. He's probably going to start next season here so if he wants to make a move to another similar program, he won't be guaranteed anything. But again, it's ludicrous to even think that.
I haven’t seen such frustration by a player before. And that’s saying a lot. I think he’s a decent offensive player and getting better (god awful on defense though) but someone that close to the school and his level on anger, it may be better for him and the program To part ways

1 hour ago, TSU86 said:Reading the coaches comments – it seems to me he’s really calling out his seniors. He said perhaps he should’ve played some other guys more and some guys less - and the one comment about him fighting some of the seniors. This team has been so so disappointing. They get swept by one of the worst teams in the conference, Madison, and barely beat the other bottom team,Delaware
To little to late
-
As much as everyone complains about players getting angry and frustated with eachother and coaches, I don’t see a worse attitude than gorham which leads me to believe he transfers
caa is loaded next year everyone on the first and second all caa team will be back minus Chealey
-
Smoked by a bunch of underclassmen on senior day. Embarassing. But starr leaving has to be a positive for next year. WTH 6 turnovers and couldn’t inbound the ball late.
Ft awful. Crappy day all around. Dennis needs to play more. Honestly at this point he changes the game for the better way more than gorham and alex
-
I would like for us to fall into the 3-6 game no matter if being 3 (extremely unlikely), or 6 (way more likely) then the 4-5 game. 4-5 means 2:30 then noon against C of C. Even though we beat them once, I'd like to take my chance with NE at 8:30. (also saying that for selfish reasons as a spectator down there) try to avoid c of c for as long as we can, especially since they will have 3-4 thousand of fans

WM Greatly overachieved. They lost two of their best players in school history plus some late transfers. They also got blown out opening night by high point.
If teams schedule well for next year, the caa will be the best since odu Vcu and mason left.
Matheny is under 500 in his career. Something like 12 years. He probably gets canned. The must have money and their AD fired football coach after just 3 years. Must be nice!
