Can you please give us some examples of throwback Pat's words and actions from the early 2010's that wouldn't be okay today?

Pretty much every 4 letter word under the sun as well as other slurs.  Not to mention some of the assistants actions..
Not saying almost every other coach didn’t or hasn’t used language like that and acted that way.  Times have changed

The players on Dartmouth just voted to unionize. I wonder if their shop steward would approve of Skerry? After all, he might make them do dehumanizing stuff, like run wind sprints and practice rebounding

If early skerry was still around, he would not be approved.  Talk about someone who cleaned their act up at the right time.  His words and other actions that were ok in 2011-2014 would not be acceptable in 2024!

Stoudemire really suckered Georgia Tech after his stint with the Celtics.  He was awful in Stockton. And Romar bouncing back for a his second stint was another poor decision.
WCC is the Zags & Gaels first tier then USF and Santa Clara second tier and then the rest is all 4th tier.  BYU left.  The conference is bad right now.

They sure as hell know how to get their best teams into the dance with their 8 game (seems like it) bye in their tourney. 😆

don’t they add the beavs and cougars next year? Washington state is gonna be the second team and only other team in the pac, besides Arizona, to make it.

As luck might have it, I think I have a winning scenario for us!

Dartmouth!! Dartmouth is a basketball graveyard in the Ivy. If they can just go ahead and sack David McLaughlin it opens up an absolutely fantastic opportunity for Coach Skerry to get back to New England and to a prestigious university. He gets them to respectability, we get a new coach…..it’s a win-win-win scenario!!

Will their union vote YES on Skerry?!😂

That would be poetic, wouldn’t it!?

Also, I’m thinking our neighbors down the street at Loyola might be in the market for a new coach sooner than later….maybe they like what they’ve seen from PS over the years?

Like they could afford him.  Would love if they could and made that move but ain’t happening

It’s a “which came first, the chicken 🐓 or the egg 🥚 “ debate. As I’ve said before, personally I’d be bitterly disappointed if we ever dropped football, which I doubt is going to happen in any event. I will say this though;  our new president comes from George Mason, which has no football program. It would be interesting to get him off the record, to see if he feels that ultimately we’d be better served by concentrating more on basketball over football

Just giving facts. The non football schools are and have been more successful in basketball. There’s more money for those programs since football is very expensive to field.
I’m not saying cut football. But if we do continue to play this fcs level of football or whatever, let’s hope our next conference (wherever and whenever that may be) has a full compliment of teams playing ALL sports so that everyone is in the same boat.

Cal Poly, Pepperdine, DePaul and Pacific, among others, will all be looking for new head coaches for the 24-25 season….any chance one of them (God willing) takes an interest in Pat Skerry?

Have to give the guy credit, he knows how to take a dismal program and get it to a respectable level. He just doesn’t know how to take it from respectable to great.

A coach who rebuilt DePaul came to Towson and burned it to the ground gets replaced by a  Towson coach who tries to go to DePaul and rebuild?! 😂   Circle of life

I just wonder if this isn’t an oversimplification. There have been recent seasons we’ve been in the top 4; W&M had some very good teams under their previous coach; JMU, before they left, had some good teams. Maybe the reason the non-football schools do so well in basketball is attributable to superior recruiting and in-game coaching.

That’s could be. But likely having the money, resources and fans to be successful in one big sport, rather than putting a few eggs in many baskets. How do they get superior recurring and better coaching???

       “Some good teams”.

I put $1 on CofC and UNCW

Is the Saturday slate of tournament games Flosports only?

    Flo only until Monday.

That makes some sense. You are basically betting on the winner of CofC/UNCW. I really have no idea what to expect from Towson, but something tells me we can take down UNCW in the quarters. Our style and poor shooting also leaves us vulnerable to keeping a game against William & Mary or NC A&T closer than it should be (although as TUTigers2012 pointed it earlier this week and as it played out, it feels like NC A&T is a good matchup for our strengths).

I have confidence in this team to beat anyone in this conference outside of Charleston right now (we haven't been able to beat them the last two seasons when the chips were really on the table, not to take anything away form an impressive win early this season) in a one game setting. However, as we mentioned all year long I don't have confidence that they can close out a tight game against one of the top teams or that they can put together 2-3 good performances in a row (two has been hard enough).

I think we can be overly negative at times on the micro of this team on this board. They have played well at times (UMass, at Charleston, UNC-W at home and a decent amount of the home slate). The macro part of it is where much of the negativity is deserved. I don't seen any evidence that we are consistent enough to accomplish the goal we all want to see, and we are probably right where we are every March. I could have summoned more optimism if we only needed two wins to get to the conference tournament final, but the combination of needing four to win it and three to get to the final, along with being stuck on Charleston's side of the bracket makes it tough to be overly optimistic.

Still, this the third segment of the season. I would give us a C in non-conference. The UMass win probably moves it from D+ to C or so. I would say B- in conference play. The Hampton loss, which ultimately cost us the bye takes it down from a B. I think we need to wait until the conference tournament happens to judge overall. Even though I think we all have a sense for what is coming.

I actually thought last year was one of our better conference tournament efforts from start to finish, but as usual it wasn't good enough. It might have been the most consistent level we have played at in the conference tournament under Skerry. Still, I have no argument for the lack of results in the CAA Tournament, which haunts this coach, this program and all of us fans. I just try to wipe the slate clean every March and bring us much positivity as I can to each one of these games. Once we find out who we play on Friday, Saturday's game is the business at hand and so so on.

Agree. Can win some, but also can very well lose the first. Think it’s way more likely we lose Saturday then beat uncw on very short rest.

you bring up home records, we are 0-5 in neutral floor games

Absolutely could lose the first game ……

    and

…… it’s also da same team that won AT C of C.

sooooo; yeah, I think the Tigers can win this thing (prob 6 teams that can).

I’m buying beers in DC  if (when) we get to the finals (TY Bitcoin  🚀) …. Will send my coordinates WHEN we get there.   Sorry to be so positive , but that’s loving sports/ being a fan.  Most of y’all dismiss the 18-20 reg season wins anyways 😂 ….. so, LFG.   NOW you can check in.  Playoffs !   Next game(s) (per the negative Nancy’s) is ALL THAT MATTERS.

    #TIGERSROARINDC

There’s 4 teams that can win it. 1-4 seeds. Tigers have 0 chance.  4-11 soon to be 4-12

Ok…. Fair, So You do give credit ( 2012 just can't ever get there )…. Cheers, you get it.  And yeah …. It’s kinda a big deal.  I love (degree soon I hope 😂) Towson; but …. Let’s be real.  If Kansas wants any of our guys - that’s a good, no…. Great thing

See above, credit given.  Said Nick was a pretty good shooter at Towson the last two seasons.  Besides that what else?

That will be the first and last player they want from here. And 100% of their fans and coaches would send him back to congress heights to play next week, rather than have him play one more second for them

Ahhhhh, you know Timber plays at KANSAS now (bit diff than Towson,  right ?  ) And ….. do you know how many other D1 offers he had ?
    I mean ……

if you are gonna kill the coaches for the “misses” you THINK they’ve made , I wonder why they don’t get credit for wins like ( ya know , a guy at KANSAS) 😂

88 mentioned Timberlake. Pretty good shooter. Not good at driving, finishing etc. lol what are you talking about?

He’s been bad at Kansas FYI so

Skerry has always had “try hard “ guys, which has gotten us over a decade of early exits from postseason play, and a trophy case full of participation trophies

Try hard guys are needed on every team but when you have a limited number of scholarships, that should be 2-3 at most not an entire team

but “skerry grAduTez da plaYers and winS dA gameS what else can ya Wantt?!”

Tarke has a lot of negative plays.  Just too many.  Turnovers killed us in this one but Tarke just needs to not put up senseless shots.  0 for 10, wow.  There a lot of guys that played hard today.  Rebounding was great, inside game was great.  Turnovers and Tarke just making too many negative plays.  This can be cleaned up.

Then why after 30 and 20 games hasn’t it?  Rebounding is always great. Defense is average.  Offense and coaching are pitiful. Game in game out.

Coaches style doesn’t fit for a player to score 14 or more a game. (Which every other team in the league has except us). Lack of composure in late games is ridiculous.  Not making shots fine. But the boneheaded plays  and actions? Simply un-fucking acceptable. Sorry. Year 13 and a player in his 5th year?!

  15. 3 minutes ago, TSU88 said:

Not a terribly surprising result, which is the problem. Tarke 0-10. You would think he would have made 1 by accident. Any chance Nicholls State wants him back?

Look, we desperately need a PG & some guys who can score next season. Needing these things and getting them are 2 completely different stories though.

CT with a headbutt? Is this the WWF? He’s got his name all over the TU record books, in no small part due to the volume of games he played, but it’s time to close the book on the CT era.

Honestly, is anyone excited/optimistic about our chances in the tournament? Maybe we win 1 game, though I certainly wouldn’t be shocked if we’re 1 & done

Need just 7-8 players and we are right there!

The lack of discipline in this program is ridiculous. New voice and leadership needed.. yesterday!
