Lst year, we couldn't stop Kurk Lee II in that double-overtime classic. But this year, I thought Briant Starr did an excellent job on him. Starr had a terrific all-around game. I thought Morman also played well, scoring early when we looked flat. Defended well as usual. Was great on transition.
Backup point guard still an issue. We really don't have one. Went ice cold in the 2nd half again. Wonder if it's the basket. Went 0-8 from 3pt range and there were some bad shots, esp. the one by Mike on that 1 on 5 break.
But you can't really dissect this one. It's just on to UNCW after a one-game homestand (thanks CAA).
Took the words right out of my mouth about Morman, ha.

Thought Morman was the player of the game. Provided much needed spark coming off the bench in the beginning of both halves when we were flat and also played phenomenal defense.

Consistency, consistency, consistency...but damn that was fun to watch!

1 hour ago, mat1992 said:You mean next year's lineup? The frontcourt will be much better but backcourt a big question. Just adding Sanders to the mix allows Gorham to play his more natural position at PF. Point guard play is shaky to say the least but that's a huge unknown even if they sign another PG. McNeill would be serviceable at the 3 but not a great choice. Zane might have to score 25ppg.
Yeah, next year. Backcourt scares me. I like McNeil, but he's no starter and Prophete is going to have to make some incredible strides. We'll need some serious help with those remaining ships.
-
Well that sucks. Has he already left the program?
Not loving that lineup either.

Tye Smith led the Titans in tackles (8) against the Rams last week.
-
I'm assuming the staff is high on him. Have you heard anything specific?
I tried looking for him at the game, but didn't see him. Wonder if he was there.
-
Agreed. Great atmosphere and love the venue. Not a bad seat in the house.
-
Absolute garbage. Sat right behind Pat and he wasn't a fan either.

Turnout was pretty decent. Good amount of students as well.

Not happy about this. He was playing just fine behind that garbage line before he got hurt.

We just offered a 6'6 JUCO QB, Mike Dare, from Lackawanna College. He transferred there from Rutgers.
If he's anything like a former Lackawanna QB of ours, I'll be happy.

I'm already up here visiting relatives in Boston, so it worked out!

I'll be at the game. I'll try and tune into the chat.

1 hour ago, Ihop said:True there was never interest or support until the T West days
I was happy with the attendance numbers during that time but I think there are a few things that occurred that knocked us backwards heading in the wrong direction again
first when we played Lehigh in the playoffs the place was packed there was a buzz, there was excitement, people were trying to get tickets. Fast forward to when we played Fordham in the playoffs - no excitement no buzz not even close to a sellout
and then you have the debacle that chased students away forever - when the university put the clamps down on the tailgating. I know it is their job to protect the students but they went way over the top and guess what - the students have never returned
as far as basketball attendance back in the 90's when we christened our new hardwood floor there were ticket giveaways excitement being pumped up, they made it an event! They brought in Michigan! Open up a new arena - no buzz and you play Navy, I think this was a huge mistake and a very big reason why there is no excitement. We should have come out of the gate on fire, making it a destination where everyone would want to come check out.
as far as the future, I'm sick and tired of talking about the future while we are still in season. This athletic department has made mistakes that I don't think will ever get us back to where we want to be
Agree with you regarding the tailgate 100%. I went to the Villanova game and was flooored. Virtually zero students tailgating in lot 14. What a change from when I was a student 4-5 years ago. Honestly, that old tailgate policy has killed student support more than our on field performance ever will. Ruined the game day college experience for many. It's hard enough with rampant student apathy.

Paye made a great pic & return for TD-I never saw a replay on the stadium scoreboard, so I don’t know if the flag that negated the TD return was legit or not. If we had better than a D-III offense we probably win the game.
I’m no QB guru, but after another afternoon of watching Stover fumble & throw multiple pics, I’ve seen enough of him to have serious doubts whether he’s the future of the program. Frankly, I thought the 3rd team QB, Harris, looked far better than Stover. Mahalak ain’t playing again this year (have to wonder whether he’s ever going to play again for that matter) so the question doesn’t become whether we’ll win another game this year, the more relevant question (and I’m not being flippant) is whether we’ll score another offensive TD this season). Of course, it would certainly help the inexperienced QB’s if we could run the ball, but we can’t.
5 games left-NH, Delaware, Elon, W&M, & Rhode Island. 3-8 seems best case scenario, though 2-9 is more likely.
BTW, I pose the following rhetorical question-can someone explain to me why the brain trust coaching staff opted to try a 50-TD FG (with a kicker who has inexplicably lost his touch) instead of going for it on 4th & short? Granted, it probably didn’t effect the outcome of the game, but I contend it is just another example of how we continually get out X’d & O’d week after week.
Agreed. Defense played well and the offense did nothing to help them out. I honestly felt bad for the D. 5-6 turnovers isn't going to cut it (I lost count). Harris had some good moments. I'd like to see more of him if Morgan isn't going to play. Still disappointed that his injury is so hush hush. Transparency would be nice.

1 hour ago, mat1992 said:Yes, Colorado is decent at hoops as well. I'm in football mode so I forget pretty much everything basketball-related. Still don't see him going there, but if he goes anywhere aside from Towson, it doesn't really matter where he ends up.
Speaking of point guards, Tre Wood is visiting this weekend
Tre Wood is super quick. Kid has some serious handles.

Great pickup! Several offers from high major programs.
Looks to be like a Benimon-type player.
-
Do we have a sense of who is still injured?
Will Mahalak play? Leatherbury? Kilgore? Simpson? CJ Williams?

I am suddenly not excited for this game. Disgusts me that it happens against MD...again.

And Leatherbury got laid out in the flat on that play. Thought he got injured for a second.

I went to high school with him. Same one that Rob went to and he played football under Tim when he was AD. Also lived in my neighborhood growing up. He’s a good guy.
