Again, folks here continue to miss the point that our playoff resume is as good as anyone in the CAA or the country .
-
Yes, non-issue. 8 and we are a lock.
-
We will always bid for a playoff game. CAA provides money to guarantee- as the MVFC and Big Sky do- a home game.
-
Agree, that 2012 team could very well have won the National Championship. The committee also looks at how you end your season. The fact that the CAA will have 4 teams and we have lost to the other 3 CAA playoff teams and UFL are major factors. I expect a bid (with a win Saturday)with a home game against Monmouth. However, I will never forget that Sunday back in 2012.

Football wins third straight, downs W&M 31-10

UNH is done! They ain’t gettin in with 5 losses. The most they could have would be 6 D1 wins in a 12 game year. Done! -
Will the Nova win over LIU count as a D1 win? That’s the danger of scheduling a program in transition. They also have wins over the weak PL teams. Could be a problem for the Cats.
-
I spoke with an NFL front office administrator who said the opposite. They know he can play multiple positions and that is a huge asset for him. $ talk and BS is BS. Teams won’t spend the money to send Scouts in at this time of the year unless he’s real.
-
Hope things work out for Terrance. He really should be In the NFL. I also hope that he finds guidance in his journey.

https://towsontigers.com/news/2019/10/17/-18-20-towson-football-revives-series-vs-bucknell-for-homecoming.aspx Has to be an impressive performance on Saturday. Anything less than a command of every facet of the game will be an abstract failure.

JMU and UD will start COA next year. Like I said before, we never funded FB correctly as an independent, PL or A10 member (deck stacked against Towson/Gordy) until Rob took the job. We are still adding the pieces to catch UD and JMU. Also, I never meant that we should not fly to these games to save money. Again, we are not 9th or 10th in “real money spent “ on the programs. Our budget is only behind UD and JMU in conference. COA will be a must for FB in the next year.
-
No, we also fly to Stony Brook. I forgot about Elon.
-
Those numbers ain’t right. We fly to every game except UD, JMU and Richmond. We flew to Maine. Rob was referring to the fans that were driving to Maine in his weekly teleconference that week. Maine message board was thinking he was talking about the team... wrong. Understand, we have a full summer session (I know that others in our conf don’t) with walkons attending. I know Madison and UD move numbers around in their budget and UR ,WM and VU have higher tuition costs. My understanding is that we are 3rd in “real FB dollars “ and between $29-30million in overall budget. Overall we are 3rd in AD budgets in the CAA.

Agree, but they have been spending well over $10mm a year on FCS football. They built a 25k seat stadium to watch the team play Robert Morris.
-
You again? Please, I m sure you’ve never picked a football up in your life.
-
Thank you for correcting the spelling in my post. Yes, should have read -abject. Damn spellchecker.
-
You do remember that we played Florida a few weeks ago, right? There ain’t nothing that JMU has that’s bigger faster and stronger than Florida! We moved the ball well against a superior SEC team.
-
This was an Alumni Assoc event. 95% of all college athletics do not make money.
-
Yes, because they realized having the gathering so far away from the stadium would not be a great idea. Traditionally, this was held on the lower practice fields.
-
The new practice facility has necessitated a move to Lot 20. Lot 20 is primarily used for administration and Presidential events. Can’t cook or have people ruining the new rug.
-
“Not expecting a large crowd “ and you Base that comment on what information ?
-
I agree. However, the entire premise of the California Bill is a farce. There is outside political funding that’s trying to influence College Athletics. Couldn’t get it done with Northwestern in 2017, so they moved it to a more favorable state (CA).This is why the NCAA killed the SMU program in the 1980’s. If this holds up, any auto dealer/booster can “sponsor “ a recruit/player and promise a contract. If the kids are considered employees, they will be entitled to all of the state benefits and perks. Scary scenario.
-
NEC is now meeting the “bowl counter “ requirements. 45 fulls and an additional 18 “need based” scholarships. Same package as the old Patriot and IVy model. That’s how Duquesne has been able to play two 1A’s a year. COA is undercutting the current FCS model. Expect big changes.
-
In the future there will be no FCS as we know it. There will be a hybrid of G5 and CAA types and the a reduced scholarship level for Patriot ,NEC etc.
-
Booger, I assume that you work for the program. So, you are saying let’s eliminate FB at Towson. We are not in the same market as VCU and will not be invited to the A10. Therefore, stuck in a watered down CAA,the chance to become a relevant MBB program on a National level is highly unlikely. At this point , if we shutter the FB program, you might as well eliminate the entire dept.
-
I know, they have never played a CAA game here!
