I watched most of that game last night.  We are lucky that it took 8 innings before the mercy rule took effect.  At the on set it looked like the game would only last 5 innings.

Look we were not beating Duke, but watching that game I kind of wonder how they won 4 games.

Beginning of the game the starting Duke pitcher got 6 outs on 12 pitches, where it took our guy 30 pitches to get 3 outs.

We had 5 total errors, 3 by the third baseman in the same inning which TuTigers2012 eluded to.  I think it should have been 6 errors but generous home scoring on one.

8 total walks, 3 hit batters, 4 wild pitches.

On to another issue.  First pitch last night was around 7:00 PM in Durham, NC.  Game ended around 9:30 PM.  It takes about 5 hours and 20 minutes according to Google Maps to go from Duke to Towson.  Assuming they were on the road at say 10:15 PM they probably got back to Towson at around 3:45 AM and back into their dorms/apartments at around 4:15 AM.  Plenty of time for these "student athletes" to get some rest, go to class (hahahaha) and then get ready for their 3:00 PM home game against GW today.  Who set up this schedule?

    Spring Break week

Someone please explain to me how on earth Towson baseball has been this bad for so long. I’m assuming it starts with the head coach?

Is there any hope of getting this program to respectability anytime in the foreseeable future??

Well,TL never restored all of the scholarships from the Loeshke purge.  Over the past 2 years, there has been an incremental return of some of the funding.  I expect that Steve will be  fully funding the program again, by the end of this year.

There are approximately 362 division 1 basketball programs.  You need very few players on a basketball team, unlike in football, to make a splash in a particular year (a splash is not a championship).  Who knows how NIL  will shake out but I can’t see how a program like Towson will benefit.  The resources just are not there.  Be careful what you wish for in dismissing Skerry and the players you guys are mentioning.  Every coach for those 362 programs wants to keep their job and fights like hell to pick off players and scrambles up whatever resources they can to pull this player from here and this player from there. Is there any doubt that the corruption of the last 40 years with essentially the same division FBS football teams dominating each and every year was not a coincidence?  The same teams don’t win for that long because they just have a great coach.  They buy mother’s a new home and they buy family new vehicles and many other ways.  Now NIL is expanding the corruption and schools like Alabama know that the gravy train is over and Alabama will lose players they never would have lost in the past for the foreseeable future.

My point is, is that no one knows how this will shake out because we are in the wild wild west stage.  Money is being thrown all over the place and I don’t know who you are going to bring in here that is going to be able to satisfy you guys in this type of environment for any extended period of time, because I think it can easily get substantially worse for a program like Towson.  The days of complaining that we need this type of player or a coach that understands this or that, I think may be over because it just may not matter more than who can pay off the most players.  I don’t believe you can get a Gary Neal, Jerrelle Benimon and Terrance West to come to Towson or certainly stay.   Those days seem to be over.  You may get lucky and get this kid to come here and the team then has a decent year but Towson dominating in the CAA seems highly unlikely and not because of Skerry.  I’m not sure Skerry hasn’t done a heck of a job so far.  I look at that Delaware performance against Hofstra.  Just a terrible display of basketball from a school that has a lot more resources than us and I wonder what you guys would say about the Delaware coach if you were fans?  They got smoked by an average Hofstra team when it mattered.  That game was not competitive.

I certainly wouldn’t want to coach in college sports in this environment and I think a lot of veteran coach's agree with me.  If you are a young coach and doesn't have money you join the corruption because that is the current system.  You keep moving from program to program seeking out a place that has more resources.  Resources are going to convince young coaches to take a job.  Experienced coaches that have made their money are going to retire.

Towson has spent over $31mm in a fiscal year on the AD. We are not in the bottom tier of NIL funds in the CAA or the Mid-major landscape.  Towson would be low-mid tier in Conf USA budgets … if we moved with UD.

Newark. Missoula. Bozeman. Fargo. Williamsburg. Just to name a few lol

12 game schedule next year. So 8 wins likely gets in. Del and Nova is atleast 1 loss so it’ll be tough

Have you looked at the Nova and UD rosters? What’s returning for next season?  How many will jump into the portal?  How many additions from the portal? Thanks for your pompous opinions and insight into all things TU.
BTW, rosters will change from semester to semester… that’s the new NCAA.

I’ll put this here since we are playing them tomorrow.  Maybe one of the final times..  rumors have hens linked to conference USA. That coupled with vcu to the AAC, which will lead Charleston to taking their place in the A10… changes are coming

VCU AD and other sources inside the dept “no merit to VCU interest or talks with the AAC”. UD “has had no direct conversations with any FBS conference in 2022-23”.

Game planning for the Hens will be interesting. I'm sure they'll try to shut down Runyon, so we'll need a new secret weapon. Any ideas as to who that might be?

And that’s the question for the chickens.  How can you stop Runyon?  Cover with a corner? Cover with a Safety? cover with a backer?  Answer = none of the above.  He wasn’t a secret weapon yesterday,  WM and the rest don’t have a player that can cover him @  6’6 243

If I’m reading this correctly, in addition to the prohibitive buy in fee, we would also have to have 16 different sports teams, and would have to offer 210 scholarships (over what period of time I’m not sure) which would have to cost 6 million dollars. Do we even have 16 different teams? Probably doesn’t matter, as I don’t see how we would pay the buy in fee. Perhaps I’m missing something, but it would appear we will be relegated to FCS in perpetuity, if this is enacted

Towson sponsors 16 total athletic programs. Meets the NCAA minimum of 6 men’s programs.  Total scholarships 204 aand above the  $6mm threshold .  $5mm would have to be generated to pay for the fee.  = move to FBS as soon as possible.

Taking a page out of the "Nick Saban School of Coaching Rehabilitation".  A smart move that keeps him plugged into the coaching community & network.  Maybe he parlays this into a full-time gig with the Terps next season or more likely lands at a school like ODU, Marshall, etc......a regional mid-major.

Yes, Mike Locksley parlayed an Alabama analyst position into a co-OC position at ‘Bama.

To want Towson to the be the best university and athletics department that it can be. That includes holding people accountable and criticism when it’s needed.
But runda will say it’s to cut our awful football program ..

Your words.  Yes,  he/she has been advocating for the demise of our Football program.

Since ironically enough an article came out, asking if Towson will ever go big, the same week we get embarrassed by a meac school, it has me thinking about to the hierarchy of the caa “all sport members.” Which teams are most attractive and willing to move conferences.   Not necessarily FBS

Based off of, performance, facilities, fan support, sports offered, academics, $, markets. Etc

    Tier 1: Delaware. Charleston. Uncw.

Tier 2: WM Stony Brook, Elon,

    Tier 3: Monmouth

Tier 4: Hofstra, NC A&T, Towson

Tier 5: NE, Drexel. Campbell, Hampton

Campbell is too new and an unknown but seems like they really put and investment into athletics so they will likely jump up a bit shortly.

I going to assume that you have not visited each one of the campuses of our CAA brethren.

Agreed. Give them a little time to build their team. Seems the intended system is not in place bc of current personnel. They're doing the best they can with the guys they have.

In todays NCAA 1AA world, you build rosters on a semester by semester  basis. The portal is going to destroy college football.
I was there on  Saturday.  We gave up 350 yards on the ground!  Telling, more about the scheme than the Jimmys and Joes.

There’s rankings for everything and they all differ. It’s kind of a crock but it’s nice for us to publish that ranking. Can’t hurt.

At least we know the ranking isn’t for football prowess… 😂

Thanks for your positivity.  I think most of us that have been on here over the years , have figured out that you have an agenda.

Well it does say "this weekend" and with the Twerps finally venturing out of the state this weekend...

As for the tailgating video posted earlier, great atmosphere but if only 50-75% of those there went into the stadium for the game then it is not tailgating but just a place to gather and have a party.  If that is the case then yes I can see why admin made changes.  I'm showing my age here but "back in my day" when I attended there was no tailgating and from the looks and sounds of it when it was brought back they gave the naysayers plenty of opportunity to shake their heads and say see "told ya".

Tailgating is not the end all be all for why more students do not attend games, yes it helps, but consistent winning needs to be a part of it too.  It would help if they could somehow find more "idiots" like myself and maybe some on this board that are sports enthusiast that come out and support their school in person no matter how they are doing and come out to Minnegan/The U even if it meant missing whatever ranked vs, ranked game was on TV.  This was pre smartphone days too so I sacrificed many Florida St. v Miami type battles to partake in Towson v Northeastern, Liberty, Buffalo (pre their moves to I-A), Central Connecticut to name a few type duels.

Actually, the ‘11-‘13 campaigns saw 5k in student attendance.  Sure, they may have left at halftime, but it was a great atmosphere. Tailgating means everything to college football and the general student population.  Winning is  not as big a factor as you may believe. Nobody cares about Towson vs Norfolk or Bryant or Monmouth.  The average student would have some interest in a game against ‘Nova, JMU, Richmond, W&M, ODU and Delaware.  The current CAA not a sustainable model.
