Negative.  I haven’t been able to follow any of this trip other than to know we’re 3-0.  Belongs in the Conway thread anyway but I’m nervous about what other layers there could be with that issue and thus lead to more shockwaves.

If you are suggesting that there is a possibility of others from the program involved, don’t. This is an Isolated incident according to the deposition. Has nothing to do with any other person in the program.

Obviously, I have no idea how the things will go under this new coaching regime but I can't help but feel that for the first time, in a very long time, there's some positive momentum about this program.....that there's a sound strategy in place to improve recruiting and build some buzz about the program.....that we're finally doing some of the things that other programs have been doing for years to help generate awareness and interest among players from all over the map.  I feel like we've finally busted out of the isolated bubble of recruiting that we had been trapped in for so many years.

I feel good about the future of Towson football.

Okay, what specifically makes you feel good about the future of Towson football?

Love the way the O’s have been playing! So happy we have the Orioles who are some winners (unlike the tigers football team the past 10 years!) Great night at Camden Yards to introduce our new coach. Nice pitch, Pete! You better score more points than that lame duck Rob Ambrose did last year! Shinnick seems like a nice guy, much like Pat Skerry!

Hope we had enough NIL money to get our athletes and recruits a hot dog at the O’s game. In other TU athletics news, I saw the women’s basketball team won a giveaway for a free vip table and bottle service at mosaic nightclub this Saturday! Good for them, gonna be some tall girls in that section, especially if they wear heels!

    …………………!

Not nitpicking Mat, but none on that list played in the Baltimore City public school league. I’m pretty sure Nolan, McNeil and Gorham played at private schools. Conway is Baltimore County public school. Again, just sort of a statistical anomaly that in over a decade Skerry’s never had a City public school kid.

In any event, it’s not that stellar of a list regardless. Nolan was only here 1 year; Holland never played a single game; McNeil stayed from start to finish, but was a role player. Gorham was the best of the bunch, but he transferred to Houston

How many of those Baltimore Public School  kids are qualifiers?

Same old same old. Still haven’t played for a championship. Still haven’t won a big game. Awful start to second half. Nice finish. Choke job with the lead at the end. Not surprising.

4-11 for skerry. Dude a is a wet hen And looks sick when lights are bright no wonder why the players choke too. next year could be 1-31 level. Keep bringing back same coach and players and expect different results. 12 years. .500 record.   The oldies on here (most) and 2024 will want a parade. Rinse wash repeat.

Give it a rest.  We know ..we know. Your constant “ see , I told you so” is nauseating.  “Rinse, wash , repeat “.. “Choke job’. Thank you for enlightening us.

  6. Looking for Cam to have the same approach to this game as he had against WM. Drive,  Don’t hesitate to shoot mid-range shots and look to dish when it makes sense.  Nick, set his feet and take good shots.  CT,  use two hands when being contested inside the paint.
Overall, square up on weak side rebounding,  hands up on defense and make good decisions with the ball.

Going into this thing I was not sure what I was expecting and after this hire I am not sure what to think.  Never going to happen but it would be nice to have had a crystal ball or something to look at the top 3 finalist to compare.  I think someone on this thread, probably Mat eluded to money in terms of what other candidates may have wanted.  Hiring a D2 coach means he is definitely making less than what Rob made.  Does the coaching pool for assistants stay the same or does that go down as well?  Hoping he was chosen because he was the best candidate and not a budget move to save a few bucks

Did Curt Cignetti move from IUP to Elon to JMU for less money than the going rate? No. My understanding of the situationis that during the interview processs, some of the candidates may not have understood the financial structure of FCS football.  ie (a private jet and an $8mm recruiting budget)

Sure the actual stadium could be expanded but why. We average 4k. The roads in and out with t west and co took forever.  Traffic is a nightmare there in game days. It isn’t as easy as saying “we can add seats”

Have you ever been to a game at Penn State Ohio State, Texas?  How about a Boston College game? We’re talking about 20k or so at a Towson game.  Very doable in the metro.

I’m not an architect, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Select last night 😆. Would seem to me that stadium expansion is possible. You’ve got the open end of the stadium that could be enclosed. You’ve got the track that rings the field. Anyway, the question in my mind would be, “if you build it, who’s going to come”?

As to the FCS, it’s pretty much reduced to teams in Montana and the Dakotas. It’s going the way of the 🦖. My guess…you’re going to have the P5, followed by a lower rung of D1 programs. Maybe the remainder, assuming there is a remainder, will be lumped into what is like the old IAA. I’m assuming our A.D. sees the writing on the wall and is formulating some type of contingency plan

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. No chance. A new Stadium would need to be built way off campus.  Infrastructure on and around campus can’t accommodate 11k fans. Asking for more wouldn’t work. Not that we could ever dream of drawing that for football. This also doesn’t take into account the community objections

Lol caa football since 2013. A real downhill league. There are about 4-5 good fcs programs left. Time to reduce the playoff field.

Again, give it a break.  Your constant anti-football rhetoric is nauseating.  We all see the story that you have been trying to craft over the years.....”Towson should drop football”. Well,  that ain’t happening!

You jump on this board to spin stories and factless assumptions about what’s happening inside the program.  You don’t have any idea... outside of what’s posted here and on TT.com.  You are like watching the news...

Well, there is a plan for the expansion of the stadium . The initial scope of design was done over 10years ago. The scope includes accommodations for the auxiliary services needed to support a stadium expansion. Partners are in place for a large portion  of the initial scope/ build .

However, I do agree with you that FCS football is/ won’t be able to sustain itself .  The programs ( yes, Towson) that are funding a the top of the scale... are being forced to leave for the FBS (  whatever iteration of FBS occurs).

Didn’t even cross my mind lol.

I’m for it.  With a renewed emphasis on recruiting freshmen esp at Gilman& St Francis, this may be a good move. However,  I would think a successful D3 coach may be our best bet. Towsons budget and pay scale are probably on par with the more successful D3’s .

Well, I guess there are coordinators out there who used to be HC’s, but that would beg the question in my mind why aren’t they a head coach now? The only way we’re getting someone who’s currently a HC would be to hire someone away from a smaller FCS program, I would think

There is tremendous interest in this program position from around the country.  B10. ACC SEC and AAC. Having these people interested in the job is very telling.

I make this suggestion based on a hunch that he’s not going to be with UT much longer. I don’t think Flood is the OC that UT is banking on to take them back to national championship relevance. I think his days are numbered at Texas but he’d be a great get for a program like Towson.

He’s P5 , period! Ain’t no way that he has to drop down to FCS.

Also we can’t forget that one sorority girl who tried to do a backflip off a pickup truck at the tailgate and hit her head so hard they banned tailgating and further set the program and fan base back. Without that nonsense I legitimately believe attendance would be significantly higher

Ah….. that 11pm wbal news headline.  A rouge administrator pops off and does her own thang!

I am overlysimplifying things, but it really felt like the inability to build off our national championship game appearance boiled down to two main things. Rob was never able to replicate the dominate offensive line we had for that run, which I think almost if not as much as Terrance West was responsible for that run. Also, we had way too many misses on transfer/recruited QBs. Enders and Athens both did a nice job of being high level game mangers for very good rushing offenses, and Flacco was a human highlight reel. Other than that, there were just way too many misses on that position.

It always felt like we had talent on our defense, but could never build a dominant unit with some of the schemes we employed. Our special teams was hit or miss at best throughout Rob's tenure. If we had better talent around Flacco, we probably could have made a better run.

However, what Rob did with not only West, but that offensive line should not be discounted. I was in Baton Rouge when our offensive line pushed around No 3 LSU for most of the first half and it is still one of the most impressive things this program has done.

Fantastic synopsis.  However,  I believe we had those offensive linemen in the program. Because of injuries,Guys like Flaherty, Antonio Harris, Shunke  only played 1/2 of a game together (2015 ECU) -and in that game they showed how dominant they could have been.

I also believe that some moves behind the scenes within the administrationled to a dip in performance on the field.  I trust that our new AD will not allow that kind of stuff to happen with our new coach.

    GOH-  Go On Home Rob!

After this latest debacle (unh hasn’t scored this much since 2017, gainers…? Towson),  the rob Ambrose era, save for another pandemic or the last couple teams forfeiting, is FINALLY over. This bum has obviously given up and it’s well beyond time to make a change.

While he made a trip to the championship game with an world running back, that fell into his lap, he did absolutely nothing to build on that short lived success. Questionable transfers, lack and unwillingness to adjust, and keeping baby brother around a few seasons too long plagued the program the past half decade plus. While the CAA dipped as a conference so has Towson football from the “glory days” with number 28.

The question now is, where does the new AD go from here and who does he hire?!  Put forth your best candidates here. A successful D2 coach,  fcs coordinator, an alum, even the SAFE person out in the parking lot to bust your tailgate party.  There are no wrong answers (besides the few who want to keep Rob) and hiring Jared.

What a juvenile post!  *SD..I’m embarrassed for you…

You are likely correct about being brought in to make changes. We will now see if the university is willing to put their money where their mouth is. Our sports are totally underfunded...all of them. If you are going to make changes and hope for better results......you had better throw in a bunch of greenbacks. Otherwise, you are merely replacing one face with another.

Quantify underfunded.  Your comment is merely speculation.  $30M budget!  Towson athletics  is not underfunded .
