I won’t bash names but will say I’m embarrassed to lose to a local school. On the 17th try a local team beat us and that should never happen. I’m fuming here in my seat at Royal Farms
-
Afraid it will look and sound like a JMU home game. Towson folks are gonna be ticked off when the walk up to the window on Saturday assuming they'll get a ticket. Wonder how many seats they hold for Towson students.

Construction on new fields complex coming soon
Tigerone94 replied to mat1992's topic in Football Talk
My guess that's why it's gonna be carpet. Also shows the fields being lit, which I believe we are the only conference school not to have a lit soccer field right now. -
Interesting...we've got offers out to 2 juco players for 2019. One offer was just made this past weekend to Trey Wade, a transfer from UTEP playing at South Plains College this year. If so, someone just might end up moving onto low D1 ball or D2.

Believe the soccer field is going to be carpet. Not a fan. -
MBB falls at No. 5 UVa, 73-42 (official story up)

Maybe I drink too much black and gold cool-aid from time to time but I really believe that this team will be different than most Skerry teams. Not saying our won-loss record will be something to brag about. It's only one game and between last night and this Sunday, we'll really not know for certain what kind of team we have. This team will be unselfish, will make the extra pass and will shoot well (including FTs). They'll rebound just as well as Skerry teams of the past. Defense and point production from down low is what will trouble this team the most, especially with so much young talent on the court. I believe every rookie played, which means no red shirts. Not sure how I feel about. Even a W&M poster on their board commented that he thought Towson would surprise a few after watching some of last night's game. I'm looking forward to seeing the team live against Vermont and Morgan and hoping I won't be yelling "pass the ball" much any more. -
What is up with Attendance & Game Promotion?

Not sure what to make of the hire below, but certainly hope it's the right call. Believe the job advertisement was looking for someone with successful experience marketing D1 college athletics in an urban market. Well we now have someone with experience in horse racing and the catholic church. God help us. -
I'm guessing Towson parted ways for at least this year with the golden retrievers. Quick comparison between 2018 & 19 schedules shows that we would have needed to agree to play UMBC between the Loyola game and trip to Charlotte. In doing so, we would have had to play 4 games in 12 days. Good call not to do that and hope that UMBC is open to getting back on the 2020 schedule. If not, see if Navy agrees to take their spot.

Came across this last week, but didn't get a chance to browse over until today. Good detail into every team top to bottom with the writer believing we're pre-season #7. Probably a fair assessment. Wonder though if our style of play will change some (for the good) this year with the players we have coming in. Practice officially starts tomorrow.

We're picked 8th on the busting brackets website. Decent detail into every team, but no way Northeastern finishes behind the Cougars and Flying Dutchmen. https://bustingbrackets.com/2018/09/21/caa-basketball-2018-19-preseason-power-rankings/

Game's not being promoted very well by Towson U. Whomever has access to tweet for @TowsonU doesn't even know the football team's twitter handle! Good luck to the Towson HS Generals in the big match up. Brings back memories of the band being announced on national TV as Towson HS for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. The neighbors heard me yell at the TV that morning.

Decent interview with Rob on Glenn Clark radio today, if you have a free 15 minutes... http://www.glennclarkradio.com/2018/08/22/rob-ambrose-says-quarterback-decision-down-to-ryan-stover-tom-flacco-a-week-before-season-starts

Thompson certainly is a mystery and hopefully some video does surface during his senior campaign. I did come across some random stories where he was quoted as saying other schools that were showing interest in his basketball ability. I'll have to go back sometime and share those stories. Maybe a late bloomer and one that our coaching staff sees something in that other mid-majors have yet to really take notice. According to www.verbalcommits.com, we have 24 open offers and now only 1 spot left for 2019.

I swear everyone must be taking an extended social media break. There was daily interest in men's basketball off-season and here we are in the thick of football pre-season and the only poster is Matt. God bless him.

No release from Towson yet, but CAA just announced conference schedule. Our travel partner is JMU, all games are Thu/Sat, except for opening weekend (Fri/Sun) and on the week we play JMU, both teams will have a bye on Thursday night. http://caasports.com/news/2018/6/27/caa-announces-2018-19-mens-basketball-conference-schedule.aspx

Think Gorham will be in over his head at Houston, but that appears to be his resting stop...
-
Hot off the press our non-conference schedule to date - according to the story the field is not set for the tournaments in the Bahamas and Atlantic City. Only one non D1 school on the schedule. I hope Leonard and Co. were able to get GW to agree to come back to Towson in 19-20.

Still searching for a place to play ball...
-
Bet every single person on this board agrees with that statement. In other news looks like Justin is making a visit to Houston. Only other report I remember seeing was a visit to GW. Think he'd do well in the A10 not so sure though about the AAC.
-
Off to visit Clemson now. Crazy how long the process can take for transfers. Players are already on campus taking summer classes and working out together while hundreds of transfers are still looking for a place to call home. Reports are still coming out of players leaving different schools and intending to transfer. Of the hundreds that transfer every year, wonder how many drop down to D2, JC or NAIA.
-
I pray that this is not our big opening game of the season. God help us....

According to Jeff Goodman, Zane has withdrawn or will withdraw name. Assume another school will gamble on signing him soon.

I've only seen one tweet saying that Juwan Gray is transferring from San Diego to Towson. http://www.usdtoreros.com/sports/m-baskbl/mtt/juwan_gray_1018253.html

I'll say it again, who's responsible for external relations in athletics now? Whomever it is should have oversight of marketing, promotions, tickets and perhaps development too. We had someone under Wayne, Mike and Mike II but who is it now? It's great that we spent all that money on the logo wraps for the Light Rail trains during football season (don't think basketball or lacrosse). They looked really cool but how many first timers did we attract to games? How much ticket revenue did we generate during basketball season when every single game included a promotion where you could get 4 free tickets? Unless your a die-hard lax fan, you're not coming out to watch Towson-Mercer in the dead of Winter. If you can't get a clear AM signal, have to pay to watch, don't know how to cast the game from your computer to your TV, etc....it's hard to get folks excited about Towson sports. End of rant.
