    Zane Martin asks for release

Well here's an under the radar player that we've reportedly signed. Only offer on verbal commits was from St. Francis? Are we desperate? Rolling the dice? Really good at finding that hidden gem? Time will tell...

Well can't believe everything we see on Twitter, but Looks like Charles Henderson Jr. has cancelled his planned official visit to Towson on May 4. Next man up...

    Zane Martin asks for release

As I've said before, Mike Waddell knew that success in men's basketball was the best way to gain mainstream national attention for the University. No one other than D1-AA fans will remember that Towson played for a national championship. I think winning a game(s) in the NCAA tournament always equates to the mainstream believing that Mason, VCU, Nevada, Loyola, Wofford, Davidson, etc have good basketball programs year in and out even if they don't like Mason. I'm not sure that Leonard thinks that way and I'd bet the last President to believe in basketball was Dr. Caret. My two cents now back to recruiting updates...

    Grad transfer for next season?

Board has been quiet for too long so thought I'd mention something I noticed today. Last we saw, Timberlake was making visits to Towson, Vermont and Elon two weeks ago. Think players can make 5(?) official visits so maybe he is waiting to see if he gets any invites from A-10, C-USA or MVC schools. I noticed on www.verbalcommits.com that Elon doesn't have spots left for 2018 and Vermont has 1 spot left with 3 open offers. It's been at least a month since it was reported that Skerry was making an in-home visit to Timberlake and the website doesn't even mention that we offered a spot to Timberlake. Wonder if it's all a dream and he's not even in the mix? I hope I'm wrong. Offers and signings seem to have slowed a bit over past week with really just Delaware, Charleston and W&M having recent signings. Sure we'll be behind a bit on looking at 2019s though we've made offers to 2, maybe 3. I think one of the players is from Gilman. And side note not seeing a thing on where Zane or Justin might be off to.

    2018 schedule

Elon just announced that they'll be opening their new arena by hosting UNC. Time for Towson to step it up, find the money and wow us with who they can bring to SECU. http://elonphoenix.com/news/2018/4/12/mens-basketball-elon-to-host-unc-inside-schar-center-next-season.aspx

    Grad transfer for next season?

So if we're still actively looking a pg/sg/cg and according to http://verbalcommits.com/schools/towson we have no spots left, the question still remains who is leaving? Players are still announcing a month+ since the regular season ended that they are leaving their program and will be a grad transfer. The only player that could do that here is McNeil since he came in the same year as Morsell. Someone has to leave in order for someone like Timberlake to come on board. Dottin the HS point guard that verbally committed gave a shout out to Timberlake on twitter to join the hunt.

    SECU/Basketball Game Day Improvements

Chris beat me to it referencing Grand Canyon. I remembered reading the attached article a year ago on what makes GCU so special and thought god I wish it was like that back in the 90s and still today at a Towson game. It's worth the 5 minute read and viewing the videos. I'll continue to dream that one day before I die that it comes true. I agree that we should hire TuTigers2012. Waddell might have run the department in the red, but he sure knew how to market and he had the support staff to make it happen. TL on the other hand seems to have trimmed his staff to bare bones while still giving the coaches the resources to coach/recruit and the players the support to be successful on and off the court. His #1 deputy had no athletics experience prior to Towson. He's a military vet thus the reason for all the cannons, US Army promotions, etc. Not a single person on his executive staff has any significant background in marketing/promotions. Appears to me that sponsorship dollars have dried up since TL came on board (notice blank ads in the stadium and blacked out ads on the back of the baseball scoreboard). How in the world can we bring in ticket revenue when every game involves a community partner (teachers, first responders, military) and they're offered 4 free tickets a game. GCU focused on getting students to the game first and then the community. Makes sense...I'd be more interested (and my kid would be too) in watching Towson play in front of 2500 students instead of 200 students no matter if we were playing U Made a Bad Choice or an A-10 school. Gotta think the community would feel the same way too. My 2 cents. https://ftw.usatoday.com/2017/02/grand-canyon-university-antelopes-basketball-best-student-section-havocs-dan-majerle
  14. WOW...I just stumbled on this opinion piece from the Towerlight, which in my opinion has gone downhill since switching to primarily online and only printing I think once a week. The opinion piece is followed by response letters from Tim and an intern. Might make for a good discussion now that we've filled the open scholarships in MBB and wait to see if we can somehow bring in another player http://thetowerlight.com/calling-on-tu-athletic-programs/ http://thetowerlight.com/tu-athletics-deserve-more-credit/ http://thetowerlight.com/the-state-of-tu-athletics-is-better-than-portrayed/

    Travis Ingram

Some guy with VirginiaPreps.com is claiming on Twitter that Travis is transferring from Towson and all he'll say is that its from a very reliable source. Say it ain't so. Anyone on here able to shoot down that claim?

    2017 Volleyball Season

Happy that they made the post season but sad they didn't make it to at least the CAA championship match. Both James Madison and Charleston made it into the NCAA field. First time the CAA has ever sent 2 teams to the NCAAs. Good luck to all.

    2017 Volleyball Season

Thought I'd start a thread on what tends to be one of the better teams year after year at Towson. Hopefully others will contribute. Volleyball has a new assistant on board this year who came from Georgia Southern. Pre-season rankings has the team finishing in 4th with Charleston, Hofstra and JMU finishing ahead of us. We have the pre-season offensive player of the year. The team easily went 3-0 winning the tournament at Western Carolina this past weekend. We play UVA on Labor Day weekend and they swept Hofstra to start the season. Side note, the games at Western Carolina were shown on ESPN3 so I guess the SoCon has a decent online deal with ESPN. I know the JMU board is livid about the poor online deal the CAA has with CBS and we all should be. Sad that we won't see games on Comcast anymore.

MBB heads to Florida Gulfcoast Shootout

I did as well. Won't see the team in person till January so trying to watch them as much as possible online. Side note...I swear during the Loyola broadcast that the announcers mentioned Loyola not playing Towson next season. Can anyone confirm that's true? If so, hope we don't replace them with Coppin.

MBB faces ODU on Friday at 7pm

Just paid my $7...hope ODU knows how to put on a good broadcast (unlike TSN broadcasts that don't show the game clock, can't keep the score right, don't show replays, yada, yada, yada). As much as I b*tch about TSN, I am worried that Towson doesn't show links on their basketball schedule to watch our home CAA games online. Home volleyball matches were available online this Fall. Anyone know if there is some sort of online broadcast contract that is expiring and not being renewed?

    Pre-Season Story Lines

Came across this article on 20 teams to keep an eye on for 17-18...Towson, Bucknell, Oakland and Northern Illinois among the group. http://www.hoopville.com/2017/11/02/twenty-teams-keep-eye-2017-18/

    2017 Volleyball Season

Huge match on Friday night in SECU against Charleston. Their only conference loss was to Northeastern on Sep 24 by a score of 1 to 3. Charleston turned around though and swept Northeastern on Oct 21. Doubt the win gives us any better chance for the top seed, but a loss could drop us into the bottom half of the bracket for CAAs. We still have to play Madison one more time (plus UNCW and Delawho).

    2017 Volleyball Season

Since at least the early 2000's, Towson has done very good job of hiring top notch volleyball coaches. I think they've had 4 head coaches in that time and only one didn't work out in wins/losses and his stay was short-lived. Just wish they had more banners in SECU that read CAA and NCAA volleyball.

    Javonni Bickham

Well I'm in the minority too. Waddell wanted Towson to be a basketball school. Leonard had grand hopes for FB when he arrived at Towson and I'm going to assume those hopes are now to a much smaller degree. It's much easier to gain national recognition in MBB than it will ever be for FB playing at the FCS level. And with that recognition comes revenue from the NCAA and donors. The return on investment is clearly greater in MBB. But back to the subject of MBB recruits, let's hope for some verbal commits soon. As someone else I think said in one of the posts, a player that will be a program changer for us.
