  1. Can't argue with these. Definitely remember 1 & 2. For # 2, the plays leading up to the TD made it even more incredible.

    TU was down 35 to 24, with 3 1/2 mins to go. Here it is as reported by local media;

    Towson shocks ODU

    " .... Tigers hit paydirt when Enders scored on an 8-yard keeper with 3:13 remaining. They converted a 2-point conversion on a halfback pass from Leon Kinnard to Mike Evans and ODU's lead was 35-32.

    Towson then recovered an onside kick as D.J. Soven hit a chip shot down the right sideline. ODU's Mitch Castleberry went up for the ball, but a Tigers player jarred the ball loose and Towson's Gerald Sheppard caught it."

    "Still, Towson's chances appeared bleak when ODU defensive tackle Ronnie Cameron sacked Enders with 1:50 left, bloodying his nose and knocking Enders out of the game for a play.

    Backup QB Peter Athens was then sacked by J.J. Williams, setting up Towson's last-ditch effort. And after missing a play, Enders returned to the field."

    From what I recall, Enders had his face driven into the ground, and along with the bloody nose had turf hanging off his helmet and Athens was in for 2 plays, with his other going nowhere.

    "Facing fourth and 29 from his 37-yard line, Towson quarterback Grant Enders scrambled out of the pocket to his right and somehow saw Tom Ryan racing across the field near the first-down stick."

    "Enders fired a pass and Ryan somehow out-leaped ODU safety Carvin Powell to catch the ball.

    Ryan then somehow escaped four Monarchs defenders and started running down the Towson sideline.

    And somehow, he dragged ODU defensive back Paul Morant into the end zone with 1:07 remaining as Morant tried to strip the ball from him the last 10 yards"

  2. I'd like to see TU dominate early, build a comfortable lead and control the tempo till the end. A blowout would be nice, but isn't necessary. Football's like a chess match & coaches don't want to show upcoming opponents all they can do.

    The Morgan St - Towson series needs to take a break every few years. Id prefer another FBS opponent. A very weak one? I.e., Liberty? UMass? UNC - Charlotte? Or any team from the Sunbelt conference.

  3. Can never overlook an opponent, but I think we'll win our opener, by a comfortable margin. As long as we're prepared, playing to potential.

    From 2018 previews of MSU, it sounds like most just expect them to improve over last year's 1-10 season, but not surprise anyone. 15 starters return, but top offensive players are gone. In addition, I read in the past 3-4 months 2 players have died (auto accident, illness) and another was shot on campus. The players themselves may not have factored in, the loss but could detract from players getting focused on the upcoming season.

    I also think restrictions they are operating under may inhibit their ability to be better prepared.

  4. Keep the info flowing Mat. Not easy to stay energized about one one of the biggest sleeping giant's of college athletics. Had we followed our FCS championship appearance with continued success? NCAA BBall Tournament runs, it would be much easier. Or if we were in a mainstream conference? I.E. if in the ACC, our student body is about the same size as Clemson, 1/3 larger than Duke and 3 times larger than Wake Forest. That, and we have a better media market. Am not dismissing other factors, but, saying were like Joe Flacco before he transferred to Delaware. Anyway, maybe other media apps could be integrated into this page. I.E., a Towsonfans.com Facebook page? Twitter & Instagram account? Would be more outlets to let fans know where to come for information, interaction, perspectives, they may not get anywhere else. 😎
