Mascots might score more points than we do
-
Crazy thing is we actually had a chance to pull out the W last night, until things went totally off the rails in the last 4-5 minutes of the game. Gee, I wonder if that’s ever happened to us before?
-
Yep, we’re in this weird twilight with Skerry. He’s immune from being fired, yet not good enough to get poached by a bigger program
-
Welcome to the club. I keep saying “wait’ll next year.” One of these days, hopefully not for awhile, I’m going to be out of “next years.” I have grave (pun intended) doubts if we’ll go dancing again in my lifetime. It may sound like hyperbole, until you consider the last time we went dancing was over 30 years ago.

I’m afraid we’re Alderaan, and just about every opponent is the death star
-
I hear ya, but I guess I would say let’s worry about this scenario if/when it presents itself. Sadly, if past performance is an indicator of future success, it’s not likely we’ll be confronted with this issue

Harvard is the TU of the northeast 😆 If he went 30-0, he’d be off to a P5 gig in a shot. And therein lies the problem-if he had won a conference championship, he probably would have moved on, in the natural progression of things. Instead, we’re now in year 13 of a seemingly never ending cycle, where he wins just enough to hang around, but not enough to get us to the next level.

There’s got to be a morning after, if we can hold on through the night. We have a chance to find the sunshine, let’s keep on looking for the light. Maureen McGovern-theme song from the Poseidon Adventure. With us, it should be called the Skerry misadventure

The twilight zone

It would be one thing if we were winning in a non-entertaining manner, but this is insult to injury; dull and losing
-
We made 16 baskets. While I wasn’t a math major, I believe that comes out to a basket every 2 1/2 minutes
-
There’s just no flow )no pun intended) in our half court offense. Most of the time it devolves into pointless passing and dribbling, culminating in an ill advised desperation shot as the shot clock nears expiration. Of course, much of that can be attributed to Skerry’s inexplicable inability to recruit a PG

If you break the game down into 10 minute increments, we scored 7 points in the first 10 minutes; 13 in the 2nd ten minutes; 10 in the 3rd increment and 13 in the the final increment. Pitiful. Watching this dreck was completely joyless

We can’t be as bad as we looked tonight, can we? I know there’s some crap teams at the bottom of the conference, but maybe we’re 1 of them. Can we win a conference road game? I guess 2-3 road wins is our ceiling, and that might be wildly optimistic. How does a D1 team shoot 16-60? I mean really? I thought the embarrassing loss to Bryant was the low point, but I gotta hand it to Skerry-he outdid himself tonight
-
How about burning it?
-
Dr. James Naismith is turning over in his grave after tonight’s embarrassment
-
I truly believe that if Steph Curry somehow joined our team, Skerry would turn him into a 38% shooter (25% from 3), but who would be a scrapper on D
-
Tonight was disgraceful. Obviously the coach should be fired (not just for tonight’s debacle). Sadly, that’s not going to happen. And btw, contrary to another thread on this board, I believe his contract isn’t up until the end of the 2026-27 season.
-
That dominant stretch CT had in the 21-22 season seems like it was a million years ago. I’d settle for him cutting down on the maddening misses at the rim. Patsos even commented on him needing to finish, during the Nicholls State game.
-
I hope your unbridled optimism isn’t contagious. Those of us who regularly, or even occasionally, post on here are painfully aware of our history of futility in close games. While I don’t consider myself a Pollyanna, I also don’t think it’s necessary to be ceaselessly bludgeoned with this fact in just about every post. Let’s see how tomorrow plays itself out. I do agree that if we’re going to make a run at finishing in or near the top 4 in the conference, tomorrow is the kind of game we have to win.

What’s the harm? One eye on this season (which will be over in a little over 60 days) and one eye on the future. Don’t worry, there will be plenty of time to dissect this season and do what will likely be the inevitable postmortem
-
Lot of ifs (if Watson comes back; if certain guys don’t get poached) but, for the sake of argument, Watson, May, Tarke, Williamson, Lowery, Sulaiman, Tejada, Cole, and the two incoming freshmen (who both pass the eye test) + let’s say 1 or 2 decent to better than average portal guys, and we might have something.
-
Why don’t we all just wish the few of us on this board a safe, happy, healthy new year and move on to conference play. Realistically, I think we all know what the end result is going to be. Past performance in this case is likely indicative of future results, but stranger things have happened…I guess.

I accept your wager. If Pistons less 10 games, lunch is on you, at a time & place TBD. If Pistons win more than 10 games, lunch is on me, at a time & place TBD
-
Hopefully not like the Detroit Pistons, who’ve lost 27 straight games. I certainly don’t want to damper your enthusiasm, but I’m not so sure Hicks’ return (assuming he does return) is going to move the needle to the extent you’re suggesting. However, I’d love for you to be right, and me to eat a heaping helping of crow.
