  1. I’ll ride it out, with the hope that there’ll be a new HC come 2021. I think we’re stuck in the mud & the current HC has taken us as far as he’s going to. 2013 just called & said it ain’t coming back.

    Quotes from the Maine game

Just words in the wind, following yet another mind numbing L, which is about to be part of another season without a playoff appearance.

    Adieu playoffs

I try to avoid calling out players, but I will say #25 is quite steadfast in his unwillingness to turn his head & look for the ball when it’s in the air. Perhaps there’s a different CB on the squad who’s willing to do so.

Epic Collapse: What will Tim Leonard Do?

Even a W vs Elon (unlikely, but hey, we can dare to dream) doesn’t get us in, IMHO, unless we follow that up with a W vs JMU. I realize this isn’t the Vad Lee JMU team, but they have a big receiver named Stapleton who will probably catch 10-15 passes by himself on our D.

Epic Collapse: What will Tim Leonard Do?

Ridiculous play calling. As I asked rhetorically on a different thread, how do none of the last 3 plays on the goal line involve a RPO for Flacco? Well, the playoffs are all but out of the question. 5th straight year. And the beat goes on

Nothing is going to change, at least until RA’s contract is up.

    And Yale dropped 35 on them, URI 36 & W&M 27

    Adams (de) commits

Adams was an internet phenom at an early age. Was hearing from big time D1 programs as a high school freshman. Then his older brother died & his game tailed off. He put things back together as a HS senior, making 2nd team all-Chicago met. His team lost the city championship to Simeon (perennial Chicago powerhouse) but went on to win the State championship in its Class. He averaged 13ppg & 5 assists playing in what I would assume is one of the best public school leagues in the country. He chose to go the prep school route, & will be playing at Link Year Prep, in Missouri this season, before starting his freshman season at TU beginning in the fall of 2019.

    Adams (de) commits

Interesting. 5’8 “water bug” type from the Windy City. Watched one of his highlight clips online & looks like he can really break a D down with his penetration. Also looks like he could make life miserable on D for the opposition PG trying to bring the ball upcourt. Don’t know anything about his offensive game, but if he can penetrate the lane & dish, & be an irritant on D, that’s a good start. So, at the moment, we’re done with the 2019 recruiting class (only 2 scheduled openings are when McNeill & Alex Thomas graduate after this season). Given the way kids transfer these days, I wouldn’t be surprised if we have at least 1 more ship to fill when all’s said and done.
  10. Mat, any word on how the not so secret scrimmage yesterday vs Rutgers went?

    Delaware Thread

TF54, I’ve been wondering the same thing...whether Flacco is going to come back next year. As you point out, he’s a little older (though not radically so) than most college athletes but, more importantly, he already has his degree. If he finishes the year strong, what would he have to gain by coming back next season? Remember, T. West had a year of eligibility left, but it was pointless, under the circumstances, for him to come back. What if Flacco comes back &, heaven forbid, sustains a serious injury? Perhaps it will turn on what feedback he gets from the NFL (or maybe CFL). So, let’s enjoy the ride, as there’s no guarantee he’ll be back next season.

    play-offs

Are there enough card carrying members of the Screen Actors Guild to play the role of TU students when Central Casting makes that call? Because otherwise, GameDay ain’t coming here.

    play-offs

Anything’s possible in the abstract, but if we beat Elon (especially on the road) & win just 1 of our other 3 games, we’re dancing. There’s a million different permutations, but the simplest is win the next 2 games, and take our chances in the last 2 (Elon & JMU). I just don’t see how we don’t make it at 8-3, regardless of who the 3 L’s would be against. I mean I guess something goofy like losing the last 2 games by a combined score of 100-0, but let’s take it 1 game at a time. I’d love for Stony Brook to beat JMU, and/or URI or Maine beat Elon, but if we handle our own business we’ll be fine.

    play-offs

8-3 & we’re a stone lock. Take that to the bank. But we’ve gotta get there. Beat UD then come home & hold serve against Maine. Lose this Saturday & we may very well have to beat Elon or JMU to go dancing.

    Week 8 Polls

Guess I’m just unclear how moving up 4 spots, into the coaches poll top 10, is being disrespected.

    #13 Football rocks Albany, 56-28

If such a thing is possible, I would suggest Citadel has less than a zero chance. What will be interesting (mildly) is whether Bama scores more points on them than we did.

    #13 Football rocks Albany, 56-28

So, if a miracle occurs on 11/17 & Citadel beats Alabama we can lay claim to the FBS championship

    Week 8 Polls

Didn’t we move up 3-4 spots, into the top 10, in the coaches poll?

I think we’re a good team also, but following Runda’s logic, TU>Nova>Temple>MD>Texas>USC A W on Saturday would go a long way towards making the playoffs and maybe even setting up the home finale as a winner takes all for the conference championship. LONG way to go though.

    #13 Football rocks Albany, 56-28

Upon further review, UD’s opponents have a 25-24 record, while ours have a 21-28 record. We’ve only played 1 team, Stony Brook, with a winning record. Our win over Nova has lost a little luster, given that they are 3-4 on the season thus far.

    #13 Football rocks Albany, 56-28

Valid point about their schedule. Other than NDSU (who blew them out) & Elon (who they beat) the combined record of Delaware’s opponents is 13-22.

    #13 Football rocks Albany, 56-28

Actually, though he’s only averaging about 190 ypg passing, the UD QB has 13 TD’s to 4 INT’s. Their top 2 RB’s average on total a little over 100 ypg.

    #13 Football rocks Albany, 56-28

I looked at the stats of their QB, & they are fairly pedestrian. I think his completion % is a little over 50. Looks like they have a good 1-2 punch at RB. On D, they only give up 18 ppg. Only 15 a game if you factor out the 38 that NDSU hung on them.

    #13 Football rocks Albany, 56-28

Did Clark play today? As good as this O is, imagine what it would be like with a threat at TE. Btw, I thought there was some sketchy calls (and non-calls) by the refs. Those 2 PI calls that went in our favor were dubious, & how they missed that personal foul on the Albany goon who had 2 other personal fouls is beyond me. (The one where he clearly hit our guy way out of bounds).

    #13 Football rocks Albany, 56-28

We’re averaging 40ppg. Huge game coming up vs Delaware, who is one of a bunch of teams right behind us in the conference with 1 loss. I would anticipate a large, hostile crowd. Hopefully, we’ll have a nice contingent of our own fans in attendance. No doubt the Flacco angle will get some play this week.
