Stranger things have happened, but that many new players screams lack of cohesion. It’s as if we’ll be starting from scratch. Really, with what, 7 points a game returning (Tunstall & Thomas) we will be starting from scratch. Forgot McNeill. So let’s say 12 points a game returning
-
Oh I forgot Fobbs (JUCO). So that was already going to be 7 new players. Now could be up to 10
-
Well, there certainly will be a lot of new players next season. If ZM, Gorham & Prophete all go, that’ll be 3 more slots to fill. With Drayton, Sanders (both sat out last year) the 3 freshman + Howard (the JUCO PG) we were already going to have 6 new players. Now could be up to 9. If ZM & Gorham are gone, conventional wisdom would have us at, or near, the bottom of the conference next season, wouldn’t you think?
-
Hell, at this point, Dion Sanders and/or Wiley Coyote make sense now. If Gorham is also gone, the only returning players from last year are Tunstall & Thomas?
-
This is an interesting area for discussion, in that it seems like recruiting these days is like walking through a mine field blindfolded. If the kid doesn’t get enough minutes immediately, he transfers. If the kid gets minutes & produces, his peeps start telling him he’s too good for a low to mid-major, and he transfers. What do you do? If Gorham goes, combines with ZM, how can anyone conclude that this is anything other than a MAJOR setback for the program. What, if any, reflection is this on Skerry, in terms of the kind of kids he’s recruiting? (Don’t forget Ingram who quit on us, & Morman, who got booted). Or do we simply chalk this up to the epidemic of kids everywhere transferring at the drop of a hat?
-
Ugh. If Gorham goes, we’re up to what, 70ppg to replace?
-
Btw, for anyone counting, that’s 58 points from last year’s squad (Starr, EK, Morman, Morsell & now ZM) that have to be replaced.
-
As I feared. He’s either done with college, or he’s transferring to a P5. I haven’t been sold on the theory that Prophete is automatically the odd man out, & this confirms my belief
-
For whatever it’s worth (and it may be worth nothing) Prophete is following & being followed on Twitter by the Eastern Florida JUCO basketball team. I’m not trying to start a rumor, but rather just passing along a piece of information that is available to anyone with internet access
-
I just got my degree in reading between the lines 😊
-
The logical assumption is Prophete is the odd man out, but isn’t it also possible there’s a player on the current squad, other than Prophete, that the coaches know, or strongly believe, isn’t coming back, but we on the outside don’t know about? Just strikes me as interesting that IF Timberlake signs, we’re accumulating a lot of players in the 6’3 to 6’5 range (McNeill, Martin, Drayton, Betrand, Fobbs, & Timberlake if he commits to us). That’s 6 guys for 2 spots (SG & SF). Just seems like a gallon of players to pour into a shot glass of playing time.
-
Wish we were the final visit. Can we lock him in SECU until he signs?😊 If he’s not going to come here, better he go to UVM
-
I agree that, from a fan perspective, probably the best we can hope for is he comes back for his junior season & fine tunes his game, because I don’t see him coming back, at least here, for his senior season
-
If he were transferring to a P5, presumably he would have announced that already, unless you’re suggesting he’ll transfer after next season. We’ll just have to play the waiting game & see
-
There are a myriad of reasons he could be doing this, ranging from he simply wants to see what the NBA thinks of his game, to he doesn’t like school (a shocking concept, I admit), to his family is in a bad way financially, to someone is whispering in his ear that he’s NBA ready. Regardless of his motivation, it’s extraordinarily unlikely he’s getting drafted. He has until 11:59pm on May 30th to withdraw his name. So meanwhile, it seems to me that leaves Skerry in limbo somewhat; does he recruit another kid, to be on the safe side or does he assume ZM will be back. Even if he comes back for next season, my strictly uneducated guess is he won’t be around for his senior season
-
It would appear we’re actively looking to add someone
-
So, the question I have at this point is are we still actively pursuing a grad transfer or a HS kid who hasn’t committed yet? Because, as has been mentioned before, someone would have to go from the existing squad, to make room. OTOH, if we’re only looking for a transfer, who would have to sit out this upcoming season, that would not implicate anyone’s spot on the current squad, as a sit-out transfer would count towards 1 of next spring’s open ships (Alex Thomas & McNeill). At least I think that’s how it would work.
-
Also wouldn’t be surprised if we look at Wichita State transfer CJ Keyser, who is from Baltimore & I believe we originally recruited before he commited to Wichita
-
Lee was a scoring machine & has an NBA body. His departure from Drexel helped greased the path to Bruiser Flint’s firing. Lee went to Louisville as a grad transfer, but I believe they were ineligible to go dancing the year he was there
-
I realize the season is 5 months off & a lot can change between now & then, but it just feels like it’s slow torture waiting the end of Ambrose’s contract out. If we don’t make the playoffs this year (not saying we won’t, but I’m also not incredibly optimistic) this will be 5 straight years, but he’ll still have 2 years after this coming season on his contract.
-
This should have been an opportunity for Stover to put a vise grip on the starting job. Instead, he’s in “the dog house.” Great. And no transfer QB yet to be brought in. Meanwhile, still no big RB, a starting CB is gone & the coaching staff is in flux. Things seem to be going very smoothly 😳
-
You beat me to the punch. I was just going to post this. I’m still hoping we can somehow bring Anthony Higgs or Nick Timberlake onboard. At least we get 2 years with Fobbs, rather than 1 from Wiley. Also saw Justin Jackson has hired an agent & is leaving MD

Hire TUTigers2012 to run the marketing department

Though I will admit to being envious that they’ve done something we’ve been unable to do. Other than that, F UMBC, & the horse they ride in on.
