Don’t blame him for passing on directional Tennessee State. He should bet on himself and hold out for high major or P5

All props to UMBC, but the ceaseless slurping on them should be kept in the context that they caught lightning in a bottle for 20 minutes in the 2nd half vs UVA. In the 1st half they scored 21 points. In the 1st half vs K-State they scored 20 points, & 23 in the 2nd half. I suspect that had they drawn Kansas, Villanova or just about anyone other than an offensively challenged UVA, they would have been beat down by 30-40 points. The real challenge/opportunity for UMBC is to build on this, now that Lyles & Maura are gone. In that regard, they do play in a cream puff league (other than Vermont) & they have recruited a highly thought of JUCO PG for next season, & had a kid who sat out this year, who transferred in from Providence. Perhaps Odom will capitalize where Ambrose failed to after our magical run in football a few years ago

I’m going to assume he’ll be back...for next season. I don’t see him getting drafted. If he really hates school (and I have no clue whether he does or not) and/or his family has dire financial needs, he might not come back. But even if he does come back, I think it would be prudent for Skerry to be prepared that he might not be back for his senior year
-
I think we all agree he’s not getting drafted. The potential problem though, as I see it, is if he’s hellbent on playing for pay, he could leave & go D-League
-
Wonder if there’s any chance he’d commit to us? He did have some other significant offers though, such as ODÚ, Cincinnati, K-State & Colorado.
-
Gotcha. We’re pretty deep upfront. I wonder where we’d fit Higgs in, assuming he wanted to come here. Someone already on scholarship would have to go.
-
Mat, I can’t read the article because I’m not a Sun subscriber. Just curious though about your Timberlake comment. I assume that’s not in the Sun article, so, to the extent you can, can you elaborate?
-
In case JWF leaves?
-
Btw, if verbal commits is accurate, Howard chose us over JMU, Hofstra, Drexel, UNCW & NE. Not to mention interest he had from non-CAA schools
-
Yep, I hope I’m right in thinking don’t sleep on Solomon as far as getting decent minutes next season. If he’s up to that task, we would be really strong up front with him, Sanders, Gorham & Tunstall. Throw in ZM’s scoring, & we might be on to something, provided Howard comes through at the point.
-
You’re right about all the new guys, 7 to be exact. I was thinking the same thing about Canada 🇨🇦, but we tore it up on the tour last summer & what did it ultimately amount to? Also agree about Alex & McNeill. Them & Prophete could have limited minutes next season, but time will tell.
-
Games aren’t won on paper, but I think we have potential to be pretty good next season, between the new guys & addition by subtraction, with the guys from last season who won’t be back
-
At the risk of stating the obvious, this can’t bode well for Prophete. It would seem like he’s the last guy off the bench. I hear though he’s a good kid & goes to class, so if he stays, so be it

I’m not so sure we’re totally done. I hope we can still make a run at Timberlake. I’m probably looking at this through TU colored glasses, but I do see a distinction between Starr and Howard. The former had few, if any other, D1 offers out of JUCO. I suspect he didn’t have any D1 offers out of HS either. Meanwhile, Howard was pretty coveted out of HS. I believe I read somewhere that the reason he might have transferred out of WKU was due to a coaching change. I believe Howard was also more heavily recruited out of JUCO than Starr. With ZM, Gorham & Sanders, we don’t need him to score 20ppg. 10 would be nice, with hopefully 4 assists per game, minimal turnovers & play D.
-
We can put to rest speculation about a grad transfer. Looks like Howard & Dottin at the point
-
Originally signed with Western Kentucky. Transferred out after his freshman season. Played one year of JUCO. Appears to have been heavily recruited out of HS. Verbal commits lists 30 schools that were interested in him.
-
I think we needn’t worry about a grad transfer anymore.
-
Dude’s a scoring machine. 5th in the country this year. Hope he leaves, but I suspect the NBA will tell him he’s a marginal draft candidate, at best. Of course, he could always do the D-League, or go overseas.
-
And to think, I was kidding about JWF leaving Hofstra. He could decide to stay, but I hope he gets a strong grade from the NBA
-
Never mind, TU2012, I just found the link by going to the UD message board. Someone on there is also concerned their PG, Ryan Allen, might transfer out too. Would love to see him go too. All I can say is boo hoo for poor UD😆 Now, if we can get JFW from Hofstra & the kid from NE to leave, we’ll be in great shape
-
Source? I just googled & nada
-
Do you have any sense if we’re actually waiting for a grad transfer or not? We’ve been looking at a number of JUCO PG’s & the JUCO D1 championship tournament is going on now through Saturday
-
Maybe simple math for you, but math was never my strong subject 😊. I’m really hoping between Fobbs & Drayton (and whoever else might be coming in) that we improve our 3-pt shooting next season. Btw, Betrand has had 2 monster games in a row in the PA HS playoffs. Nice to see a recruit who seems to thrive in big games. Also, I watched this kid Timberlake’s highlight reel...geez can he elevate. Some really impressive dunks, with some jumpers mixed in as well
-
If you shoot 3-9 from three you score more points than shooting 50% on 8 two point shots.

Watching Lyles at the charity stripe tonight, I thought I was watching ZM for a minute. He missed 3
