Mustafa Lawrence-latest transfer we’re following & who’s following back. 6’1 G out of Fresno State. Actually, his next school will be his 4th; started at Missouri State, then JUCO, then Fresno. This past season he avg 20 mpg; only shot 37% overall; 30% from 3; 72% ft; 3apg & 6.4 ppg.
-
His numbers this past season were pretty pedestrian. He did shoot 56% from the field, but only took 24 3’s, hitting 9. Only shot 65.8% from the foul line. Avg 4.7 rpg, 4 apg & only 8.6 ppg 🤷♂️

I’m not too old-you kids get off my lawn, before I call your parents!!!! 1 open ship. Fobbs, Howard, Sanders & Tunstall depart; Barnes, Jones & Biekeu arrive
-
Come home, Randy
-
Some of these kids have twitter pages that make no sense to anyone but themselves (can’t figure their name or who they play for). You would think, if they’re hunting a ship, they’d want people to know pesky little details like, oh I don’t know, their name and what school they play for
-
FWIW, Coach O’Connell is following him, & he’s following back
-
Per verbalcommits.com, we’ve offered Jaylen Holmes, 6’6 JUCO from Lincoln Trails CC. He’s from Indiana & also been offered by Portland, Eastern Illinois, Chicago State & Detroit. Odd stat line: shot 66% from the field (obviously very high) but only shot 66.7 from the foul line. Add to this that he shot 53.3% from 3 (extraordinarily high-maybe he didn’t shoot that many?) Avg 5.5 rpg & 4.4 apg. Avg 17.5 ppg. Maybe these statistical anomalies are because for some reason he may have only played in 8 games this past season 🤷♂️

Maybe we can get that Drayton guy 😆

In death, Valvano has assumed an almost saintly image, based on his “never give up” speech while he was battling cancer. As a result, many don’t recall that he resigned from NC State under a huge cloud of suspicion, including horrific academic performance by many of his players, along with allegations of having paid players, & players engaged in point shaving
-
He & Rick Mahorn formed the “beef brothers” while with the Bullets. The Celtics radio broadcaster had a different moniker for them ... “McFilthy & McNasty.”
-
And the star player on Iona, who helped catapult Valvano to the NC State job, was...wait for it...Jeff Ruland. Upon Valvano’s departure for Tobacco Road, Kennedy, as mentioned in Mat’s post, succeeded him at Iona. Valvano, Kennedy & now Pitino. Iona has had some big name coaches
-
Actually, Iona was during his upward trajectory. He coached there from 80-81 season, through 85-86 season. FSU was his next stop after Iona
-
Just thinking about next season, given current events, gives me some optimism...assuming there’s a fall season. Nashville & St. Pete sound like good destinations to me. Any idea who some of the other teams in either tournament are?

Today’s list of D2 transfers we’re following: Riley Farris. 6’9 from Ft. Lewis College. Avg 24ppg this past season; Sekou Sylla. 6’4 from College of St. Rose. 22 pts & 11 rpg; Darweshi Hunter. 6’5 from Central State University. 20.7 ppg Sylla is the only one following back, this far
-
Dwight Wilson of JMU is the latest to enter the transfer portal. IMHO, a better version of Nakaye Sanders; avg 10ppg & 9 boards. Can Matt Lewis be far behind?
-
Another D2 guy we’re following, who’s following back: Devin Whitfield, 6’5 170 lbs, from Lincoln Memorial U, which went 32-1 this past season. Avg 19.2 ppg; 53% overall from the field; 44% from 3 (99-223); 82% ft; 4.8 rpg; 2apg; 1 steal per game. A skinny Brian Fobbs???
-
You’ll be shocked to learn one of our coaches is already following him on Twitter 🥺
-
Disregard my blank reply to last post. Heres an interesting guy one of our assistants is following, and who’s following back-Cam Martin, from D2 Missouri Southern. Started at Jacksonville State, where he avg 4.1ppg. Transferred down to D2, where this past season he averaged 24ppg & 9 boards. 6’9 240lbs. He’s played 2 years at D2, plus his fr yr in D1, so it looks like he’s got 1 year of eligibility left
-
According to ESPN.com, Caldwell played 31 games last season. In any event, Tomas Murphy (NE) has transferred to Vermont. He should do well in America East
-
Don’t know if this guy has been mentioned yet in this thread, but we’re following him & he’s following back-Alex Caldwell from SEMO. 6’0 G. Shot 40% overall this past season; 33% from 3; 79% ft; 3 apg; 11.7ppg
-
NM will be known as the TU of the west 😆 He could serviceable at a school comparable to us, but I agree, if he actually winds up at Xavier or Ole Miss it’s as bench fodder
-
Howard has heard from Xavier, Ole Miss & New Mexico? Why, for his opinion on social distancing? Hey, if he goes to NM, he can reunite with ZM. If he goes to Drexel, that would really be interesting
-
Banks might be the 1st domino. I wonder if Lewis, who averaged 19ppg, will bolt next? He’s got 1 year of eligibility left. Not sure if he could go the grad transfer route, or if he’d have to sit one
-
JMU’s Darius Banks has entered the transfer portal. Lit us up for 27 points at SECU last season
