His tournament record speaks for itself. This is not a small sample size. I don’t see how even his most ardent supporters can defend it. BUT, he’s not going anywhere for quite some time. It was Ill advised to give him an 8-year extension & downright malfeasance if there was not a buyout clause in the contract. Like it or not, we’re stuck with him

Disheartening. The opposite of AB last night was Dottin-full of energy and effort. He’s not the most talented guy in the world, but I love his intangibles
-
I’m wondering the same thing. Not wishing for it, just wondering. Could be a coach’s decision, player’s decision, or mutual.

I sat behind our bench. AB’s body language was terrible-mopey & brooding. Makes me wonder if he’s capable of being the leader on this team going forward

And TU2012 is right-the Elon coach, in 2 days, has as many conference tournament W’s as PS does in 7 years (I’m not counting PS’s 1st year or the year we weren’t eligible for the conference tournament. That leaves 7 conference tournaments & a record of 2-7).

We’re all the “wait til next year” folks. Each & everyone of the few of us who are passionate about the program. Each & everyone of us who has waited 30 years in vain to get back to the dance. Each & everyone of us who has suffered through the miserable record of this coach in the postseason. Each & everyone of us who wonders if we’ll ever get back to the dance under this coach. We are the damned-each & everyone of us

Betrand was dismal, but Sanders (as usual) got in early foul trouble, & Gibson was a non-factor tonight. NE, in the 1st half, got in the lane anytime they wanted to & got lots of easy looks. As for us, we’ll, as usual, every offensive possession was a death struggle to get off a shot. Same as it ever was. And for the “wait till next year” folks, imagine this offense next season, without Fobbs

I agree we need a regime change, but it simply isn’t going to happen. The reality of the economics (i.e. buying him out) make the question of getting rid of him a non-starter. I for one wasn’t even all that upset after tonight’s L. After all, I felt deep down we were going to lose before the game even started. That’s where this program is, at least for me-I have come to accept we will never get back to the tournament under this coach, but there’s not a blessed thing I can do about it, because the people who can do something about it have botched the situation. Now, those of us (there aren’t that many) who are truly passionate about the program must suffer for the next 6-7 years & then hope at that point that whoever picks the next coach gets it right. I have serious doubts TU will get back to the dance in my lifetime.

IMHO, DE & Hofstra have the best starting 5’s in the conference. Agree that it has the potential to be a helluva game

Section 105 & will be at Willie’s

Elon beats JMU at the buzzer. It was the only time in the game Elon had the lead. No sympathy for JMU, after they beat us at the buzzer last year. Any chance Elon beats W&M tomorrow?
-
Nice. I think he could be helpful on D & if nothing else to give our other bigs a breather
-
Any idea if Gray is going for us tomorrow?

Meant to say he’s following them on Twitter, not that he’s literally following them around 🤣

May turn out to be totally irrelevant, but one of our assistant coaches is following a number of JUCO’s. Of course, a grad transfer, a HS kid, or even a sit-one transfer are other possibilities for the last open scholarship

It’s going to be challenging, though not out of the question, to beat NE 2X in 9 days, even more so if Walker and/or Murphy are in their lineup this time. Cant give Roland & Brace uncontested 3’s. Have to win on the boards & get out in transition. Sanders needs to be a key element of the offense, Betrand has to as well. Fobbs & Gibson knock down their shots & get some meaningful contribution out of the 3-man bench. Simple as that 🤓

MBB gets 3rd seed; Squeezes by NE 75-72 in finale

Spot on. It’s not just his offensive game that’s been off. At one point yesterday he ran away from Bolden on D, resulting in Bolden draining an open 3. I sat there yelled at the TV, “why are you running away from a 3-point shooter?!!” Unfortunately, my tv failed to give me a satisfactory answer, and the 3-pointer counted -

If the website informedathlete.com is correct, he’ll lose a whole year of eligibility if he plays in the tournament. According to the site, if a player plays after the halfway point of the season, he’s not redshirt eligible -

For our eligibility experts-could Murphy, who’s only played 4 games this year (thus clearly making him eligible to redshirt) come back and play in the conference tournament, and not burn his redshirt? I always thought it was for guys who got injured early in the year and never returned. Or is it simply that you play less than 30% of your teams games, regardless of when you play the games -

I hope Murphy doesn’t play, but if they want to burn a whole year of eligibility, it’s up to them. Thought I heard them say on the broadcast today that Walker wanted to play today, but Coen nixed that, with an eye towards him playing in the tournament -

Dottin has improved at the line. Last year I seem to recall he was pretty atrocious Im doubtful it’ll happen, but I’d like to see Gray in uniform next Sunday -

I’m no coach, but it occurred to me at the end of the game, when we struggled 2X to inbound the ball, that it would be nice to have Gibson, a great foul shooter, not being the guy inbounding the ball, but instead having 1 of the bigs do it. I guess PS trusts Gibson’s decision making as far as inbounding, but how nice would it be to have the guy throwing it in have 3 great foul shooters (Gibson, Betrand & Fobbs) to have as options -

Really impressed with how we finished the season. Let’s see a show of hands-how many people had us going 2-0 on this road trip? I know I didn’t. Honestly, I was concerned we’d go 0-2 When we were down by 5 in the 2nd half, we could of folded, but didn’t. That was refreshing. Can’t say enough about Fobbs & Gibson. The latter has turned out to be quite a recruiting coup by PS. Also loved Thompson’s offensive game in the 1st half. I’m hoping he’s one of those guys who improves his game between freshman and sophomore season. A couple of highlight reel blocks by Tunstall & kudos to Sanders for hitting 8 foul shots. Rough game for Betrand. We need him to bounce back starting next Sunday. Soooo, for us, the road to the conference championship game does not go through either C of C or Hofstra, so we got that going for us On to DC -
As a fan, I say go. Don’t these tournaments require teams to pay to play? My guess is we wouldn’t pony up

MBB beats Hofstra 76-65 to break their 8-game winning streak

No matter what time the game starts, some people are going to be happy, others not so much. I’ve been wrong before, but I would think, on balance, the TU contingent at the game would be higher if the start time is 2:30. Of course, it’s possible the difference would be negligible
