    Demetrius Mims transfers to Towson

If I’m not mistaken, only Puerto Rico & US Virgin Islands are exempted

    Demetrius Mims transfers to Towson

I don’t disagree with your analysis. In fact, if the stars align (Gibson seizes the PG job; Timberlake becomes a double digit scorer; Gray does likewise; Betrand & Solomon make the freshman-to-sophomore leap; Tunstall, Sanders & Thompson grab 20+ boards a game; Howard comes off the bench to drain a few 3’s; Dottin improves from being a miserable shooter to even an average shooter; & Fobbs avgs around 20ppg) we could be a sleeper this coming season. Problem is, I just think that’s asking an awful lot for all those things to go right. But every team in the conference, maybe with the exception of Delaware (though they did lose Eric Carter) has question marks, which is why handicapping the outcome with any degree of success might be a fools errand

    Demetrius Mims transfers to Towson

So much, this coming season & next, will depend on the quality of the PG play. With the talent drain that took place around the conference this offseason, who knows what to expect this upcoming season. At this very early juncture, I see us as a middle of the pack team. Now, if Gibson, Timberlake & Gray all meet or exceed expectations, and if Betrand & Solomon U significantly improve, and if Sanders can average around 12 & 7, then maybe we can move up in the standings. Personally, I think they’re are too many ifs, but that’s why the games aren’t played on paper. I’m not going to speculate on 2020-21 yet. Too many things can change, plus we don’t know what will happen with the 4 open scholarships that will be available after this upcoming season

Same CC that JJ Matthews transferred to when he left here after the 2017 season.

    Demetrius Mims transfers to Towson

The signing of Mims suggests 2 things to me: (1) one reason to recruit kids you might not get on the front end is to, no pun intended, catch them on the rebound if things don’t work out for them at the school they choose originally; & (2) kids like Mims (& Victor U) are the types of transfers TU is generally going to get-kids who went to bigger programs than Towson, & when things (for whatever reason) don’t work out, they’re looking at a smaller program where they might be able to be a big fish 🐠 in a smaller pond. I just don’t see us getting transfers who’ve actually had success at the program they’re leaving, as I believe those kids are generally looking to move up to a program that offers more limelight

    Demetrius Mims transfers to Towson

This could be a good get. Local kid who won 2 State championships, scored 1,500 points & was a State POY. Was recruited by legit programs like VCU. Went to Long Beach State & for whatever reason it didn’t click for him out there. Now he’ll have until November 2020 to hone his game & has 3 years of eligibility left. We’ll need someone to pick up the slack for Fobbs; hopefully Mims can be that guy.

For starters, I hope we don’t have a D3, though in fairness, other CAA teams also play D3’s

    Interesting new hire

If you’re at the U of Alaska, you better have a helluva game day experience, cuz there may be a lot else to do!!!

    MBB lands big transfer

I think most of the remaining transfers are sit 1 players. If there are any transfers who can play this fall, and are that good, I’m skeptical they’re coming here.

    MBB lands big transfer

It’s unfortunate that Victor & Fobbs won’t play together. That’s why it’s imperative that the coaching staff use this last ship for the fall (or one of fall 2020’s 4 ships) to bring in a high volume scorer to succeed Fobbs. As to being an excuse for PS, truthfully, with his contract, he’s not going anywhere anyway. It’s way too early to prognosticate how we’ll do this fall, especially since it’s unclear if the remaining ship will go to someone who’s eligible this year or next. My suspicion is it will be the latter.

    MBB lands big transfer

A swinging bunt infield single? Astroth was Chris Davis striking out after watching 3 pitches right down the middle, & not swinging at any of them. And then shaking his head as he walks away from the plate, like “I can’t understand for the life of me what just happened.”

I’d say Moto was a double. Can’t call him a home run, because we didn’t win anything during his 2 years.

    MBB lands big transfer

I dig your enthusiasm. Assuming your info is correct, I’m not sure I would have gone public with it, at least until it happened. In any event, assuming it does happen, why do you think he’s eligible this fall?

Mat, what’s the word on this guy? Is he an OT or OG? How many years of eligibility left? Any scouting report?

    MBB lands big transfer

This is just a guess on my part, but maybe the poster is referring to Anthony Higgs, who is 6’8 & went to Perry Hall HS in Baltimore County. Higgs originally committed to Ole Miss, where he would have been a freshman last fall. However, he de-committed from Ole Miss & committed to Illinois. He never got on the court last season at Illinois, as he had some kind of injury (might have been a foot injury). Just recently, Higgs announced he was transferring out of Illinois. When he was in HS, Towson was one of the schools recruiting him. I have no inside information one way or the other as to whether Higgs is coming here. Also, I’m not sure he’d be eligible or not this fall.

    MBB lands big transfer

I’m not questioning B-ball Mat, but unless & until something is announced, I’m not making any conclusions. We have 1 open ship for the fall. I have good reason to believe we’re looking (or maybe I should say also looking) at 1 or more sit 1 transfers. The waiting is the worst part. Hopefully we’ll know something soon

    In other CAA news

LJ Owens transfers from W&M to UMBC. W&M fans must be apoplectic. Someone on there board referred to UMBC as a “glorified community college.” What will be interesting is if Odom will even still be coaching at UMBC in the fall of 2020, when Owens will start playing after his sit out year

    MBB lands big transfer

Given recent trends of 700+ D1 transfers a year, it’s not unlikely that 1 non-senior on the team that takes the court this fall will leave after the season. I just hope we don’t have anyone quit during the season, which has happened 2 straight years now (Ingram & the kid from Turkey) and/or get kicked off the team (Morman).

    MBB lands big transfer

We have 4 ships for 2020, right? Tunstall, Fobbs, Howard & Sanders will all be seniors this coming season. So even if everyone else stays, we still have 5 scholarships (1 more for the fall, though I think it’ll be another transfer who will sit out this coming season, + 4 for the guys who will be seniors this coming season). Definitely need some SG/wing types who can score
  21. As a wise man once said, “it ain’t bragging if you can do it.” Now, as far as basketball, who knows how he would fare against D1 competition. If I were any school, I wouldn’t burn a scholarship on him, but I’d certainly give him strong walk on consideration
  22. I read that article. Very interesting. He averaged 14ppg in HS. His brother will be an incoming freshman on Loyola’s basketball team in the fall; big scorer in HS. Pat gets good reviews from some notable local basketball players. Did I read that he dunked on Kurk Lee? Pretty cool, even though Kurk is a bit long in the tooth at this point. So, I would assume he’ll walk on at Loyola, if he gets clearance to do so. Just think, if he played with them in the fall of 2020 it would be the Spencer brothers vs the Uyaelunmo brothers

    D1 Transfers from Verbal Commits

It’s not just Furman, TU & WSU who have expressed interest in Iorio. The list also includes Colorado State, S. Alabama, Nevada, LaSalle & Delaware. If we don’t get him, I hope he goes anywhere but Delaware

    MBB lands big transfer

FWIW, which may be nothing, he’s following one of our coaches on twitter. I don’t see that he’s following any coach from WSU or Furman, but WSU is P5 & didn’t Furman have a really good season last year?

This is the guy I’ve been clamoring for.
