What list are we talking about?

In all fairness, I assume W&M, with its well heeled alum, is in a much better position to eat salary than we are.

Alex, who are Jefferson (not George), Monroe (not Earl) & Tyler

Without using our friend Mr. Google, who were the 3 presidents who graduated from W&M? No question W&M is a fine academic school & having 3 former Presidents as grads speaks for itself, but how many colleges actually existed in the U.S. when those 3 went there?
  5. Ingram scored more than 8 points, didn’t he? Drayton scored 20+ vs a D3 this year. Your point is correct though; we cannot afford any swings & misses like those guys with the remaining open scholarships. We need HR’s not K’s

They have a relatively new AD apparently. The football coach had been there since before leather helmets, now he’s gone. Shaver had a 16 year run, which is almost unheard of at this level; either you get fired way before that, or you get cherry picked by a bigger program. Having said that, with the talent they have returning, I would have given him one more year. Maybe some of their top players will jump ship. I’d love to see Knight & Pierce move on.

The early reviews on the W&M board (obviously a ton more will be posted) are negative, in terms of him not being retained. Certainly that could change, depending on who they hire.

Very surprising. The ultimate irony will be if the new coach gets them to the dance next year, with Shaver’s players. Also, will any of the current players transfer out?
  10. With the coronation of NE as the 2018-19 tournament champs, here are the records of all the current CAA teams in the conference tournament since 2011-12, Skey1st season: NE: 12-6 (2 championships) College of Charleston: 8-5 (1 championship. Note, Charleston didn’t join the CAA until the 2013-14 season) UNCW: 9-5 (2 championships) Delaware: 8-7 (1 championship) W&M: 7-8 (no championships, but 2 title game appearances) Hofstra: 6-8 (no championships, but 2 title game appearances) JMU: 5-7 (1 championship) Drexel: 4-8 (no championships, but 1 title game appearance) Towson: 2-7; no title game appearances Elon: 1-5; no title game appearances. Note, Elon did not join the CAA until 2014-15
  11. Gray (the USD transfer who sat out this year) + Timberlake (who will be a R-Fr. next season) + Thompson (the early sign incoming freshman) + the now 3 open ships. That’s how I calculated 6 new players next season. It’s not 4 ships because Thompson has already filled 1 of the 4.
  12. As many predicted. Officially makes the Prophete, Ingram, Drayton recruiting class an unmitigated fail. Didn’t take long for Skerry to presumably have a “come to Jesus” talk with Drayton, who clearly wasn’t going to get any meaningful minutes here next season. Now we have 3 open ships. Get a (quality) PG, a 2 guard who can actually shoot 3’s, & a 6’8 type who’s not a stiff. See how easy that is! All of our problems solved😆 Wonder if anyone else will depart? We’re now going to have a minimum of 6 new players next year (Thompson, Gray, Timberlake, for all intents & purposes, + the 3 open ships). Kinda good news/bad news. Good news would be if we bring in some quality players; bad news is the revolving door/lack of continuity. Also wonder if he’ll now use 1 of these ships on a grad transfer or a transfer who would have to sit out next year

    CAA tournament records since 2011-12

Btw, speaking of people not leaving, a poster on C of C msg board claims the AD told him Riller is not going to do the grad transfer thing & will be back for his senior season

    CAA tournament records since 2011-12

Same thought I had, but Wikipedia says he makes $462K & if it’s on the internet it has to be accurate, right?

    CAA tournament records since 2011-12

It is puzzling how Coen hasn’t been cherry picked by a larger program; I don’t think he’s too old, is he? If Mihalic couldn’t win the tournament with JWF... Coen will be 58 in May; surprised to read he makes $462K a year, though a bigger program would pay him more
  16. Come on down. Plenty of good seats still available!!!

    Best backcourts in school history

That ship sailed a long time ago. But, since we’re in the wayback machine, if Mason & Amayo & Benimon, Damas... played together, Skerry would be long gone. Although, Amayo’s best year was only 8ppg at Iona. Also throw in Dion Jones, who transferred out of TU to Monmouth

I see your sarcasm & raise you Dottin & Howard

Uh oh, Hofstra choking against Chickens

I’d love to see JWF go up against Murray State & Ja Morant. Probably won’t happen in the tournament, but maybe in the Association

Uh oh, Hofstra choking against Chickens

Interesting observation. With Anderson, Horton, Allen & the 2 transfers who sat out this year, that’s a lot of guys for only 1 ball. We should have such problems 🙄
  21. TSU88

Uh oh, Hofstra choking against Chickens

When you’ve got JWF, how good of a coach do you have to be? 3rd game this season he’s dropped 40. I don’t care how many players Hofstra has returning next year, JWF is a once in a generation (maybe once in a lifetime) player. Unfortunately, Delaware on the other hand, could be quite formidable next season

Skerry Era by the numbers, Part I

Now I’m depressed thinking about how other teams have talent coming back (or in) next year, & all we have at the moment is Fobbs, a bunch of freshman who need to get a lot better, & a couple of open scholarships. My only hope is homemade Prozac
  23. TSU88

Skerry Era by the numbers, Part I

On paper, W&M & Delaware should be favorites to win next year. If NE has a transfer from Illinois then I say lookout for them too. Coen has struck gold in the past with multiple transfers; no reason to think he won’t do it again. As you also point out, Hofstra, Drexel & JMU all return a lot of talent. Rowe can’t beat anyone else, but he is Kryptonoite to Skerry. Said it before & I’ll say it again-Skerry must hit home runs with the remaining 2 (or 3) scholarships. Even though we return practically everyone next year, TU2012 is right-none of our returning players other than Fobbs scare anyone. It’s about the quality of returning players, not the quantity

Skerry Era by the numbers, Part I

    (1) Tiger93: good analysis in your post. I love a courteous debate. I will also say that I have posted on multiple occasions that next year is the “make it/break it” year for me. We return virtually all of our scoring from this year; our freshman this year will be sophomores (and thus improved) & we still have 2, maybe 3, ships to fill; (2) Tgr4life: I understand your argument. I’ll just say more than 1 thing can be true at the same time. In other words, I want a program that is successful both in the regular season & postseason. Right now, I suggest we have a program trending in the wrong direction as far as the regular season goes, & has been an unmitigated failure in the postseason under this regime (as well as all his predecessors, going back to the early 90’s).
