    Tom Flacco article on ESPN

Anyone else surprised that Flacco wasn’t at-least picked up as an undrafted free agent? Sounds like he was going to have a pro day if it weren’t for the virus and the local media outlets and even ESPN who ran a front page story about his potential to be drafted. Obviously know being brothers with Joe will bring more media attention but seemed like he had a decent shot at getting drafted?

    W&M II preview

I understand the athletic department has to start with small goals, but they are pulling out all the stops to try to get get 1,200 students to the game. TU is nearing an enrollment of 25,000 students. So if they somehow do get 1,200 students in the arena tonight, that’s less than 5 percent of the student body in attendance. Pretty insane, we have so far to go. I watched the VCU game on Monday night (former CAA school), the arena was filled to the top and their student sections on both sides were packed and going crazy. They play in the A10, those schools don’t have much more if any, name recognition as the CAA. Where did TU Athletics go wrong? Has attendance always been this bad? I graduated in 2018 so have only been following for a few years.

    Basketball TV schedule

I don’t understand the Flo Sports agreement. Most casual CAA fans are not going to pay to stream games on there computer. Being only online and on a network most people have never even heard of makes no sense to me for growing the league. Why not go back to the one or two games a week on CSN regional networks and let the schools do the rest of there games on TSN for free? Or get a partnership with ESPN, and do most of the games on ESPN3. A name brand channel that’s free and that people are more likely to check out. And then have the conference tournament on ESPN2/U. I have Direct TV and don’t even get CBS Sports Network, so I know no one with cable gets it either.

    Florida scouting report on Towson

Couldn’t agree more. If we ever get a win over Maryland, I think it will be up there as being as big as going/winning the national championship. Especially in the state of Maryland/region. The casual and even most hardcore college football fans (unless they went to an FCS school) do not follow FCS football and just think of it as NDSU and everybody else.

    Update on practice fields

Are the lacrosse teams moving there games from Unitas to the soccer complex. I’ve seen Towson mention on twitter and elsewhere that it will be used for lacrosse, but not sure if they just mean for practice? Seems like a lot of top tier lax schools that have a big football stadium do not play at the football stadium and have a lacrosse specific stadium. Ex. Penn State, Michigan, Duke, Virginia, etc

Is Flacco not practicing with the team this spring because of baseball?

FCS Playoffs announced at 12:30pm (chatting)

You guys have a link to watch the selection show or is it on TV only?

    Playoffs?

By bid do you mean pay the NCAA money or just explain why we should get a home game (up to date stadium/camera stands/attendance). I personally thought the top 8 teams get seeds, bye, Home game, and then the next 8 best teams get a first round home play off game. I thought it all had to do with the quality of the team?
  11. The master plan in 2015 had there being a track there instead of practice fields. I think down the road they were planning to get rid of the track at Unitas and put a fieldhouse type structure in the end zone. Also the new dorms in the Unitas parking lot are interesting. Limiting tailgating/parking even more https://www.towson.edu/facilities/masterplan/documents/execsummarytufinal.pdf

TOWSON 41, ELON 10 (story up)

Let’s say Maine wins today, they are up big. Everyone at the top of the conference has 3 losses, with Maine with 1 conference loss and everyone else with 2 conference losses Next Week - Towson (7-3) JMU (7-3) Elon (6-3) Maine (7-3) SB (7-3) Albany UD (7-3) Nova Winners of the top 2 games are in for sure. If UD and SB win they are in. That leaves the losers of the top 2 games in who knows land... Would be crazy if Elon and we lose, do they put Elon in over us even though we blew them out today? Also gotta hope SB losses to Albany

    TOWSON VS. ELON WEEK

21-3 against #5 in the country, we can do this. This has to be the tougher game right? And JMU is at home?

TOWSON 52, STONY BROOK 28 (story up)

As a graduate from Towson in May I completely agree. My junior and senior year going to the game wasn't even a thought among my friends/frat because of all the rules and regulations. Everyone goes to day drinks uptown Saturday during the day so why bother going to the tailgate/game when no one is there. It's pretty sad to hear by other people on this thread that the SAFE security was harassing people last weekend. It seemed like there was a decent amount of students and greek organizations which is big, tailgating and at the game. Seemed like they may have gotten something going with getting them out to homecoming that I was hoping would continue and change students mindset but sounds like SAFE ruined any progress, sad. Even alumni in the the alumni lot were getting harassed, crazy. I know it's like at-least $100 to rent a space down there, what makes Towson think treating alums like this is going to make them want to spend money next homecoming on just a place to tailgate lol

    #13 Football rocks Albany, 56-28

Texas beat #4 ranked Oklahoma. A playoff participant last season in FBS lol
  16. 5-1 @ Albany @ Delaware - beat #5 Elon by 2 scores today vs. Maine - 3-0 tied with us for first in conference @ Elon - lost but still a top 10 team, beat JMU last week vs. JMU - top 5 team Only easy game left is Albany and that even may be a little tricky on the road, 3 wins will be tough but I think achievable? Do we definitely need 3 wins?

What is up with Attendance & Game Promotion?

As a 2018 Towson grad I would like to share some of my insight on this topic. During my time at Towson, (2015-2018) going to football games was never considered cool or even a thought in most of my friends minds. My freshman year, yeah we went to the first one for the free t-shirt and then never went to another. Most of my Saturdays were spent going out and drinking during the day at Uptown bars (hundreds of students are found here during the day on Saturdays). It's not that I wasn't interested in going to the game, it was just nearly impossible to try to find friends to go with. Most students at this school after freshman year don't go to a single game and do not even follow or know when games are. My friends that graduated before me all used to go (tailgating era) and as soon as tailgating was banned (wasn't actually banned but with all the stupid regulations everyone basically considered it banded) none of them had any interest in going to a game. It's pretty simple in my eyes, no tailgating culture = no strong student attendance. The whole tailgating thing is a joke. Without a strong tailgating atmosphere how do you expect the community/older adults to come out. Tailgating is a major part of the atmosphere of going to a college/NFL game. Add on top a weak student section, you have a crowd that resembles a high school football game (I've heard students call it a high school atmosphere before). The attitude by school administration to cover there asses by implementing all these tailgating policies is idiotic. Look at schools down south in the SEC or even UMD. There are thousands of kids on top of tables dancing, in tents, jumping on tables, doing keg stands in the parking lot and the school still allows it. Another thought to increase attendance is schedule Maryland every year, (or Navy, or WVU). In 2017, many of my friends made the trek down to college park for the game. The same friends who have never attended a Towson home game. Most Towson students are friends with many students at College Park and it was an excellent atmosphere in the tailgating lots and at the game between both rival schools. I know Maryland would never come to us but still it raises the profile of Towson football among students that the games can be fun and may result to them coming out to a home game. I would love to hear the feedback from you all, figuring most of you may be older and have an older perspective.
