mat1992 Posted January 31 Report Posted January 31 Towson came back from five down with about 4:00 left to beat Delaware on the road 76-66 on Thursday night. Dylan Williamson led the Tigers with 27 points on 11-of-19 shooting and went 5-of-9 from three-point range. Towson shot just 1-of-10 from beyond the arc in the first half, but wound up shooting 6-of-11 in the second half. Tyler Tejada added 15 points and five boards, while Nendah Tarke contributed 14 points off the bench. Towson also had 11 steals including about a handful late to sew the game up. They also shot 15-of-19 (79%) from the line. The Blue Hens shot 49.1% from the field and 6-of-18 (33%) from the 3-point line but turned the ball over 16 times. Here is Pat Skerry on TowsonTigers.com (About winning 250th game) "Didn't know that. Wish it didn't take this long. The way the first year went it would have taken a couple of centuries. We were down 5 at the 4 minute timeout. Finally got some stops .They are very good on offense. How good was Dylan? Incredible. We made some foul shots We went small late. Messiah had a couple of big steals. Nendah continues to make a lot of good plays on both sides of the ball. Good team win. We didn't foul a ton. Did a good job of guarding the threes (but not great overall). Tejada had some great drives and finishes. Dylan lives for the moment. I took him out early in the second half to send a message to him and he responded." Quote
TSU88 Posted January 31 Report Posted January 31 Never imagined we’d be 8-1 at the halfway point of conference play. With W&M getting trucked by the Camels 🐪 tonight, we’ll be in sole possession of 1st place going into Saturday’s game vs Drexel. With decent weather, no football to compete with, students back & team on a roll, we should have a nice, and raucous, crowd. DWill is on a heater, and the other 2/3 of the 3-headed monster kicked in about 30 points tonight. Pretty amazing that we start 3 guys who combined avg less than 20ppg, yet we keep winning. Let’s enjoy the roll, and slay the Dragons 🐉 next 3 Quote
Chris Datres Posted January 31 Report Posted January 31 Once Dylan got his shot back after that slump through late November and December, it's elevated not only his game but everyone else's. That defense in the final 4 minutes was outstanding again and is what put us over the top. I'm sure there's a lot of brow furrowing over allowing so many offensive rebounds and putbacks but hopefully that gets ironed out. This team has shown a ton of resiliency during this winning streak and it's something I really didn't expect to see after those first 10 games of the season. It's great to see and they really have a good roll going. So...first place all alone in the conference and the next home game is on big TV at a pretty advantageous social time. Marketing has a big challenge ahead over the next 36 hours but there's really no reason that there shouldn't be 3500-4000 fans in attendance on Saturday evening. Go hit the $1 beers for your early buzz before heading uptown. There's a winner on campus and it's time to make that arena loud. 4 Quote
Bay Area Tiger Posted January 31 Report Posted January 31 (edited) “Ain’t no stoppin’ us now we’re on the move… There’s been so many things (Lethbridge 🇨🇦🚍) that’s held us down but now it looks like things are finally comin’ around.. I know we’ve got a long, long way to go and where we’ll end up I don’t know (🪩) But we won’t let nothing hold us back we’re putting’ ourselves together we’re polishing up our press.. “ Credit to Coach Skerry for driving up today instead of last night. Now 44-49 all time vs Delaware. 7 in a row sounds so damn good! 4 conference road wins! 1-10 from 3 in the first half. DWill was DWade tonight! I’ll say it once again the parts just seem to fit this season! 👏 Edited January 31 by Bay Area Tiger Quote
mat1992 Posted January 31 Author Report Posted January 31 Ok, where do I start? Did anybody think we'd be here after that six-game losing streak in non-conference play? Do you think we missed Tejada for six games and May's defense for four games? Not even going to go into the travel issues. I have to still say that this team is still an unfinished product. I thought they played about 35 incredible minutes on Monday. They moved the ball well, they pressed and forced turnovers. Tonight, I didn't see a lot of that other than some incredible clutch shooting from Dylan Williamson. DWill was incredible tonight though I'm not in love with all the ISO stuff and lack of ball movement (6 assists). If that's what it takes to win. If we can beat them off the dribble, then go for it. I thought the defense was going to struggle some tonight. We just played on Monday and they didn't. Plus they have some good offensive players, especially Camden. But the rest were just ok, I thought we got caught ball watching some and gave up too many backdoors and then the fouls were ugh, especially on No. 11. Not bad calls, but he fouled out in 16 minutes, yet still gives you six points and two rebounds. Starting Tarke in the second half made sense and we probably should have gone small earlier since the Hens didn't really play a center. Embeya, Jones and Samb combined for 3 points and 15 rebounds. I love the board work but yeah, they also took just three shots combined. I know people are just waiting for the shoe to drop. Maybe it does Saturday or next week, but all I know is that we're in first place in the CAA and it feels a lot better than it did in December. 3 Quote
Bay Area Tiger Posted January 31 Report Posted January 31 So we are all clear.. dinner invites will only be issued to fans on this board.. no late arrivals or gravy trainers hoping on the bandwagon will be able to attend our fan message board gathering in March. City TBD of course. First place in the CAA right now. What a run we are on. 3 1 Quote
Moleman1 Posted January 31 Report Posted January 31 I'm simply speechless.. Around 7th January, I figured we were digging a hole so deep, even the Mariannes Trench would pale by comparison. And like many on this board, I was sad and highly disappointed, and like others, vented my steam on TowsonFans. Being up in years, I just concluded I'm never gonna get to see the program even come close to measuring up to the teams of the early-to-mid 1990's.. And there's still something about this season's group that's kinda Don Stanhouse-esque: We're in a hole much the games, yet by some heavenly intercession, these guys have found it within themselves to pull through W's 8 of the last 9, including road games!!!!!!!! Talk about a 2nd wind - even Lazarus would be proud❗ I for one take back all the nasty negative remarks of 3-4 weeks ago 😞 Please forgive me... Yes, please forgive me by winning another 7-8 games. Or, at least the key games in March 🙏 3 Quote
