Never mind, just read the article....

Did he take a job somewhere else or did he get let go?

Jordan Mailata, from Fiji (via Australia) was 20 years when the Eagles picked him in the 7th round of the NFL draft. He had no football experience, but had been playing pro rugby. Just turned 21 & made the 53 man final roster cut.
Gotta stop reaching with the rugby stuff. You're talking about a needle in a hay stack. He is 1 of 1,700+ guys in the NFL.

Nice to win in dominating fashion. I didn’t see a ton of the game but followed along. I’m not totally shocked they kept it vanilla. Try to give Wake as little as possible on tape. They barely beat a below average Tulane team this week. Would be awesome to get another FBS win next week.

What a joke....

Other stuff impossible to answer after one early practice. Other questions answered up top.
Seriously, does anybody read the recaps of the practices? If not, I’ll just post the comments or find something better to do on a Saturday morning.
Read all of them, just trying not to get my hopes up because if this team stays healthy I think they can be very dangerous.

Really hoping we let this talent shine in 2018. I like being the underdog and trying to prove everyone wrong. A playoff season would be a great way to shut up all the haters (especially on this board).

This is realistic and makes sense....

Opening at home at the end of September is too late (especially if we're 1-2 -- or 0-3 -- by then).

New Mexico's last NCAA Tournament appearance was 2012 (it will be 7 years) and Houston was 2010. Used to be big programs but not a lot of production lately. I think this was all about trying to prove they can play at a higher (slightly) level and show scouts that they can play pro. Justin may have other reasons. I like Justin's game more than Zane and I think we could miss him more. But I do like the kids we brought in. Unfortunately you can't win at this level relying on too many freshmen. That's why you have to hope that the Jucos and Sanders can come through.
Didn’t Houston make the tourney last year and lose to Michigan at the buzzer?

While I don't want to burn Miller's red shirt I'm not sure if Ambrose cares. I'd think he has to be feeling the pressure of not making the playoffs. We've had some bad breaks and injuries but you can only keep saying that for so long. He knows it's time to put up or shut up.

We only draw 5,000-6,000 a game. You have to question why we spend millions on the program. Division 111 sounds more reasonable unless they change the tailgating rules and do a better job with getting the students to attend the games.
Division 111, is that 108 worse than D3?

Let’s face it, it wouldn’t be fair to constantly have it in Charleston, no matter how hospitable folks are in the low country, & it doesn’t make sense, IMHO, to hold it anyplace north of Philly (Hofstra & NE are just going to have to be the geographic outliers). Furthermore, no one should be heard to gripe it’s a home tournament for TU; after all, having it at the Civic Center for 3 years (sorry, it’ll always be the CC to me) didn’t help us win the tournament even once.
DC is a great town (tons to do for out-of-town visitors to the tournament) & a 4K seat arena seems perfect for a tournament that averaged 5,400 for a 4-day tournament played in Charleston (keeping in mind that the 5,400 average was likely inflated by the fact C of C made it to the championship game. This reduces the ratio of fans to empty seats-I’d rather see 4K in a 4K seat arena, then 4-5K in a 7K seat arena.
Agree with all of this. Increase the demand and create more buzz.

Let's hope he's more JD than ZM

Why does everyone expect the NBA to care about the college game so much? The NBA does what’s best for its product.

Obviously I don’t have any inside info, & maybe we’ve got a shot at this kid, but it seems like getting in on recruiting a kid this late in the game is generally not a recipe for success, especially when he has over 10 other offers. It would seem to me recruiting is about building a relationship over a period of time. That’s why some kids get offered a year or two before their senior year. Just feels like we’re johnny come latelys with some of these offers we’re now making. Of course, this last minute scramble has been necessitated by ZM & Gorham jumping ship.
How are you so sure a relationship hasn't been built over time and the official offer just came?

The reason UD got ND at home is due to the fact they celebrated the 1998 Hens team that made the tourney and wanted Brey there.
-
Are there any rumors floating around about Betrand backing out? I'd assume him and Zane have some sort of friendship, didn't know if he'd be second guessing.
Same goes for Dottin, he's only a verbal like Betrand.

I feel like we are playing with a double edged sword here. We can't say Skerry isn't getting good enough guys and guys are staying 4 years. The best player on the team is leaving because he wants to go to a Power 5 or play professionally. That means he is upgrading from his current situation which is a compliment to Skerry if you ask me. It stinks that we are losing him but at the same time Skerry found a "diamond in the rough". Let's see where he ends up and what he does with that opportunity.

It would be amazing if you actually knew what was going on in our athletic department the last 15 years.

My opinion is that you drop football completely and sink that money into the other sports. Focus on men’s lacrosse and basketball. I don’t care if we win 30 CAA titles in volleyball. NO ONE CARES.
I don't think TL is hanging the programs hat on beating UMBC, Morgan and Coppin. He is just making all the uneducated readers aware who also "felt a huge sense of pride" that we are a better program than them and we've proven that for the last 5-6 years.

31 minutes ago, sr16 said:Yeah I like how this contrasts with the basketball schedule. I think I would rather lose (1 goal games) to the best in the country to prepare us for the CAA and one and done games.
That's fair but this game doesn't hurt Denver if they happen to lose, that's where it differs from hoops

Here University of SF has only 1 senior so they wanted more games.
Not to rant but St Mary’s is the first top 40 RPI ranked team not to dance. Formula my ass. Oklahoma lost of 8 of 10 but tv wants Young in there. Texas was a mess all season but Shaka factor. Syracuse.. ha.
And I keep hearing the 2 for 1 line. Yes you can get 2 for 1 games if you pay but you can also be denied because many BCS schools still don’t want to lose at your place. St Mary’s would play anyone anywhere. 28 wins and not in. Just sad.
While I agree that USC is better than Syracuse and Arizona State the fact of the matter is they beat NOBODY. Their best win is an 11 seeded UCLA. At least Syracuse beat Miami on the road...
I look at St. Mary's and while they may be good there is at least 3-5 teams in the NIT that are better than them (ND, Ok St, USC, Louisville and Baylor). We make excuses for the mid majors all the time. You have opportunities to go play games, go do it (St. Mary's lost to Georgia and Washington State). Who cares if it is 2 for 1, 3 for 1 or 5 for 1. Go play in showcase tournaments, do whatever you have to so when you end up 26-5 with 20 wins over Quad 3/4 teams you don't get left out.

Its not like we are in a bad league. If we finish in the top 2-3 in conference I find it hard to believe we are left out.
