Nads lamented in the post-game presser that the team failed to apply what they'd practiced to the game. It's not the first time he's seemed baffled by his players' lack of passion/focus. We've all praised him as a coach, but the fact is that he's not a rah-rah guy, not a motivator. That's a problem this year.

Except for a few close games, we've been overmatched every time out. I know the new coach is just in his second year, but we're even worse in 2019 than in '18, and that wasn't a very good team either. Is there reason to be hopeful?

Softball seems to be all about pitching -- JMU has it in spades -- and we lost our only bona fide star when Meghan Diejter graduated last year. WLax is more of a mystery. We have a good coach and two of the top players in the league returned from last year's playoff team, but the season has been an utter flop.

I'm a little puzzled by RA's comment about TEs. He only mentions Clark in passing and the says, "I'd be hard-pressed to bring a wide out in but a tight end? Possibly." Does he really think we need help there? Is Clark not the clear starter/star we expect him to be?

Given that this has been a season-long problem, I've come to the conclusion that too many of our players just aren't fundamentally sound. As with our deficiencies in basketball, maybe we just can't get top players (or enough of them) to come here.

Problem was that we'd give the ball back right after making a stop. The key, I thought, was not stretching our 6-4 lead. We blew about five different opportunities to go up three (or four, or five...). When you let a team hang around, we all know what happens. Of course, the illegal procedure penalty late in the fourth quarter and the off-sides at the end were just mind-boggling. I worry that our No. 1 ranking was the worst thing that could happen to us -- we started thinking that we're better than we are, and forgot to stay hungry.

Not sure what the problem has been with this year's team; 1-6 is shocking.

Well, we've certainly shown these last two weeks that we're not the best team in the country, at least for now. If Nads can clean up the turnover/clearing problems that everyone has pointed out, then maybe we can get back into that conversation.

This makes me wonder if the staff is cutting corners. Almost sounds like their heart isn't in it. (I hope I'm wrong.)

JMU coasted past Hofstra during the regular season, so today's outcome was a shocker. (At 25-5, I suspect the Dukes will get an at-large bid to the NCAAs.) I see that Madison had two starters go down with injuries, but Hofstra must have played well. I like our chances tomorrow, but hope don't take them for granted.

I'm hoping the poor showing against Cornell was a kick in the ass for this group. We had survived some sloppy play, but that didn't fly on Sunday and it won't fly this week either. I expect a much better performance, even if we don't win.

After the OT loss at Madison, we seemed to lose our mojo, and things got ugly at the end of the season. Let's hope the ladies can reestablish the level of play they showed for most of the year.

Like everyone else, I thank you for your time and dedication. Does anyone associated with the program ever express their appreciation? Also, at what event were those awards given out? Is there a spring banquet?

Skerry wasn't just a point guard at Tufts, he set the school record for assists. (Though, at a brainy school like that, maybe the bar was low.) Regardless, you would think he'd stress passing/finding the open man...

We were up 62-54 when Howard hit a three. The scorer's table gave the three to JMU, so the score read 62-57 instead of 65-54 (our biggest lead). For the next few minutes, the scoreboard remained not just uncorrected, but added to when Madison made a basket (62-59). I'm not sure at what point things got straightened out, but it made a shrinking lead seem like it had all but disappeared.

The video production was definitely a low-rent operation. Maybe they'll have more than one cameraman in Sunday. Speaking of Sunday, I wonder what shape the field will be. Penn State and Cornell are probably doing more damage to it than we did.

It's not just that Dottin is a poor shooter -- he's not even looking for an open teammate when he drives to the basket to put up those out-of-control/off-balance shots. Yes, he hit his first few on Saturday, but even a blind squirrel finds a nut every so often. And that's bad coaching as much as it is a selfish player who's unrealistic about his ability.

Diana Richardson deserves a lot of credit, not just for bringing in good players but for creating a winning atmosphere. I've seen us play twice, and she's a strong in-game coach too. PS could learn a thing or two just from watching her substitution groupings.

Woodall needs to keep up the good work, as do Sunday and McLean, but I think our chances mostly hinge on Canto. He needs to be really good against Loyola.

It was a terrible loss, but we had the game won with a few minutes to play. We forced CCU to punt -- we could have run out the clock, but some moron special-teamer ran into the kicker (he wasn't even trying to block the kick, he just deliberately ran into him well after the ball was on its way). Of course, CCU took advantage, marched down the field and took the lead. We got the ball back with a minute or so left, but Frazier didn't have the passing ability to make any magic happen.

I missed the game, so am catching up. How did we squander an 8-point lead in the first OT?
