I'll say this: The Hens' QB was dynamic. We may have allowed his receivers to get open, but he didn't miss them. And as Mat says, he's very quick. He eluded pressure and found the open guy. But here's the thing: He played last year at Iowa Central Community College. There had to be other guys out there like him, but somehow our coaching staff couldn't find anybody to come in and challenge last year's 4th stringer for the starting job. How does that happen??

The weather should be great (for once!). I hope the students both to come out and actually enter the stadium.

Game planning for the Hens will be interesting. I'm sure they'll try to shut down Runyon, so we'll need a new secret weapon. Any ideas as to who that might be?

We just went on the road, against a ranked team, in front of the largest crowd in their history, spotted them a 17-point lead, and then ripped their hearts out with a stunning 34-0 run, and this snarky response is the best you can do? Would have been better if you just exercised your right to remain silent 🤫
Couldn't have said it better myself.

Like everyone else, I feared a third loss. Morgan didn't look like the same team I saw beat Richmond two weeks ago; presumably our scheme/execution had something to do with that. The QB coach needs to work with Kent on looking to his secondary receivers -- too many times he forced a pass to someone tightly covered but missed the back out in the flat with no one near him. I suspect Pete will be focused on special teams this week, given the two blocked FGs and his emphasis on special teams as "special forces." Despite these reservations, glad to get the W. Congrats to the new staff (and players, of course).

Do we know what Mason Woods' status is for this week/season?

I watched the 4th quarter, and Morgan's defense was ferocious. Maybe Richmond is bad this year, but Morgan definitely looks much better than in the past. Big hitters on D, and some speed demons on O. I had penciled in our game with them as a win, but we'll need a much better performance than usual to pull that off.

Has he been practicing? Will he play anytime soon?

The Sun article on RA was encouraging to read. Glad to see that he and Steve E. had a relatively amicable parting, and that Rob understands the need to give his successor space but also wants to be supportive.

Not much evidence of excitement for the season on this board. Maybe that's because fewer people pay attention to TowsonFans.com in the summer, but I hope that changes. I think there's a lot to be jazzed about, even if the new staff was behind the 8-ball on recruiting this year. I think we'll see an improved brand of play, even if the end result is a 5-6 or 6-5 season. And maybe -- just maybe -- the 2023 team will outperform expectations.

Overall, an encouraging performance, but utterly dumb-ass TOs will sink us in the CAAT.

I didn't realize the start time had been moved up from 3 to 2, so I saw just one possession before that weather shut things down. But Nathan Kent looked impressive, got the ball out quick and accurately, moved well to avoid pressure. Maybe he was playing against backups, but I though Kent (and the receivers) were operating smoothly.

Or do I have that wrong? (I stepped away for a while).

First time all game.

Well, whaddya know. We wrote a new ending.

We're up 1, 57 seconds to go, Hofstra ball. I have a sinking feeling how things are going to go, just given how many times we've seen this movie
-
We struggle even against weak teams. Hampton may be our only sure win left on the schedule.
-
I've been watching about five minutes of the Hofstra game -- during which time we've thrown it away FOUR times. Pathetic.

Right. It shouldn't even be close.

1 minute ago, mat1992 said:17 turnovers to 13. I think Stony Brook had just four or five in the second half. But the real stat that mattered? Long had just 7 saves and McLaughlin had 17.
After a strong game last week, Long falters this week. That's one of the (many) differences between us and good teams -- consistent goalie play.
-
I just don't see us turning this season around. Like the b-ball team, we have a tough time closing out tight games. Frustrating.

Bench that guy. I've seen that sort of boneheaded play from him again and again

This was essentially a play-in round, and the Lions edged us 195.700-195.450. We bested them on the bars and vault, but were nosed out on beam and floor. Helluva year, though.

He shot 4 of 5 from the field (3-4 from three) in 20 minutes. Looks like he'll be significant part of the rotation. I hope he does well.
